Mixed Feelings at a Fair Price My first time flying Volaris…read moreleft me with enough good and enough bad to land firmly in the middle, which is probably the most honest place a budget friendly airline can occupy. The round trip between Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta ran about $320 USD, sitting comfortably between the bargain basement pricing of Viva Aerobus and the premium end of AeroMexico. For what you get in the middle of that range, the value is reasonable, with some important caveats. The planes were clean and in noticeably good condition. The seats were more spacious than I expected, comparable to what you would find on Delta or AeroMexico, and for a smaller traveler I had enough room to cross my legs comfortably. The staff was friendly throughout both flights and the check in process was straightforward in both directions, counter delivery in Mexico City and self service machines at the Puerto Vallarta national terminal on the return. Now for the caveats. The outbound flight to Puerto Vallarta was delayed one hour and forty minutes for a wheel replacement. Mechanically speaking that is the right call and the responsible one. Emotionally speaking, being told your plane needs a new wheel before you board is not exactly the confidence booster you hope for at the gate. Fortunately I had lounge access during the wait. The return flight departed right on time, which helped restore some confidence in the operation. The base fare includes one checked suitcase and a small personal item like a purse or backpack. A carry on suitcase costs extra, which becomes a genuine inconvenience when you factor in the thirty minute baggage claim wait on arrival. Paying extra to avoid checked luggage only to wait that long at the carousel would understandably frustrate most travelers. In flight service is water only at no charge. Sodas, snacks, and anything beyond that comes at an additional cost. Three stars for an airline that gets the basics right but leaves enough friction in the experience to keep you from becoming a loyal customer without shopping around first.

What a terrible airline. The good is that it got us there safely. We were only 30 minutes late…read morewhen we went to Mexico City. We were on time going back. There's a lot of bad: 1) The seats feel like bus seats. They were really firm and hard, reminding me of elementary school chairs. 2) I paid to choose my seat, but we didn't have those seats on our return flight. It would have made little difference, anyway, because the rows are virtually identical from the front to back of the plane. Space is limited. 3) The loading process is disorganized. Most logical carriers will load elderly and people with disabilities before loading everyone else. For some reason, Volaris does not do that, and it causes loading to be far longer. 4) Customer service doesn't exist before, during, or after the flights. If you try to check reservation information, you can only talk to AI or chatbots. They give you the option to text customer service through WhatsApp if you have questions; however, they will give a generic, unhelpful answer that mirrors what the AI/Chatbot says. 5) Flight attendants are there to do the bare minimum. Carry a credit card if you want anything (food, water, etc) as there is a cost to everything. Flight attendants could not even care less if people were getting up when the plane was ascending/descending. 6) If you are tall, you will not enjoy the limited seat space 7) If you didn't pay an extra fee for a seat assignment, then you will not be assigned your seat till the day of the flight. If you did pay for your seat, they could still move your seat, despite you paying for it. Because of their literally absent customer service process, if you have legitimate disability accommodations, they cannot accommodate that till you arrive at the airport. By that time, the seats have already been assigned and there is little they can do to accommodate you. This is the reason people with disabilities were limping without assistance onto the flight in group 6, rather than being boarded prior to the general population. 8) Even if there is a delay to the flight, they do not consistently update their passengers. I had a 30-40 minute delay going from LAX to MEX, but it did not show that there was a delay until we arrived at Mexico City. 9) This is a low-cost carrier and it can be considerably cheaper than other alternatives if you don't carry baggage. If you are carrying baggage and choosing a seat, there may only a 10-20% difference (compared to 30-40%, as you'd see on google flights). Volaris is completely unprofessional. I hear Viva Aerobus is even worse. This said, I'd probably stick with AeroMexico next time I go to Mexico.

So we have to stand in that line just to get checked in? Are you going to search this guy with these giant square-ish shaped packages that look like something you don't want on the same plane? Once at the front of the line, the flight attendant at this window got us checked in. Now off the the security part so no weapons or liquids. We were so early, we waited at the gate for 3 hours before we could board. The flight was great because you get a whole drink and a whole bag of chips.

SHAME ON INTERJET! DO NOT BOOK FLIGHTS WITH THIS CROOKED COMPANY!…read more I had booked a flight to Cancun from LAX in December of 2019 to fly out on the 25th of March 2020. I get a notice from Interjet 1 day before my flight that all international flights have been cancelled due to the Corona Virus. I went to change my flight to another date and they want to charge me 139 dollars each way since I did not make the change 24 hours prior to my flight?! How are they not going to honor my change when Interjet didn't even give myself a 24 hour notice!? So they are going to notify me on March 24,2020 about international flight cancellation and I try to adjust my flight on that same day and they want to charge me 139.00 each way for not changing 24 hours in advance?! I wasn't even asking for a refund! How is that even possible! You guys are absolute crooks and I will fight tooth and nail. I will take legal action if need be. It's not even about the money anymore. Its about principle! Do what is right Interjet and stop being so greedy! I won't stop till I get reimbursed. To everyone else, contact your bank/credit card company because this pandemic is in legal terms "an act of God" and out of our hands. We are being unfairly charged for these flights that Interjet is not reimbursing! All other airlines are reimbursing their customers with no issues, but Interjet is not!

They sold us business class tickets on an aircraft that didn't have business class. We had a delay of a total of 28 hours with the partner companies they put us on. Worst of all, to this day, our two bags have not arrived at our final destination (it's been 5 days). We've made several complaints to the company and they only say there's no way to get back to us. The AirTag tells us that our bags are lost somewhere in the airport in Brazil. This is completely absurd. We will never use this airline again.

While I didn't get beat up by the staff, I did…read moreget lied to and (attempted) cheated, so I guess I still had the authentic experience I don't know where to start on this, so I'll just give a play by play of how things went down: Left Ecuador at 0400. Arrived at Bogota with enough time to make it to Mexico, and then to Vancouver. Flight to Mexico delayed due to reasons, that's fine, that happens. Arrive at Mexico at 1515, and miss the 1600 flight. That shouldn't be the end of the world, it happens with flights. Well.... Then it gets weird... Getting off the flight, every Avianca person I speak to says everything will be fine and that I'll make my flight. However, once out, there story changes to, I should have made my flight (?) They should have been on time! Avianca tells me it's the two other airlines that will be comping tickets to make up for the missed flight. Two hours wasted as two other airlines don't know what's going on. Avianca issues a "ticket" for a 0110am flight. I'm given one 10$ food voucher to make up for the hassle. Another guest who also missed the flight was given not only two vouchers, but also an hotel for the night. 2300hrs comes around and I go to check in to X airline, who all but one staffer, were absolutely horrible with regards to dealing with this, even threatening to call security for having a fake/invalid ticket. Let's come back to that point: I was issued a F A K E ticket. Everything on the ticket looked real, but it matched nothing in the system. The police said "must be mistake, must be mistake!" Have you ever heard of a mistake like FAKE TICKETS FROM A MAJOR AIR CARRIER? So the 0110 flight would not let me on board, this means that I just waited eight hours in the airport, while the other guest got an hotel room. I also of course was forced to miss work back in Canada. On the phone with Avianca, whenever I would call, they would say "we don't speak English", and hang up. Yes, a major international airline call centre, that doesn't speak English? On the phone to the other X airline, Avianca said that the ticket was correct, but I was in the wrong, and also that I should buy another ticket home at cost, and thankfully X airline's staff pointed out that they were just trying to scam me, and if I did that without anything in writing, I would never see a penny back from it. All of this on top of my paying $750 to get home before, and them being unable to honour it. I then had a legally savy Mexican friend call in, and suddenly everything was peachy on the system, and they couldn't figure anything out, but without a valid boarding pass, I was forced to stay in the terminal two until 5am, when I could finally go BACK to the Avianca offices in terminal one, to sort this out. Thankfully there was an extremely understanding lady available to help me, and who looked shocked at the nonsense ticket I produced from last night. On top of solving things, even if it means I was stuck in the airport for 27 hours, when it should have been a simple xfer, OR the affiliate flight later the night of the day in question. Hell, why wasn't I just put on the flight the first day, that I got the second day? It wasn't empty at all. And I was handed another $10 meal voucher, which the manager tried to veto, even. Bonus points to the morning (female majority) staff, who actually solved all the problems in twenty minutes, thank you. You're the MVP, getting me on an actually real ticket out of this hellish ordeal. So 25 hours locked in the airport, unable to sleep thanks to security waking people up, and two $10 vouchers compensation. What a lovely experience. Fly anyone else if you can. I'm not reviewing the X airline, because as shitty as they were to me, it really wasn't their problem, and one of their staff did defy orders and try to help me, so there's good people in there somewhere.

I wouldn't worry too much just because I've seen some negative reviews. Almost every airline has people who have had a bad experience and left a review, while people who had a perfectly normal flight often don't post anything at all. I booked my trip through a travel agent because I didn't have much experience with the booking process, and they handled everything for me. After coming home, I started looking up the airline and found quite a few negative reviews, which naturally made me a little worried. I also looked at reviews for some other airlines, and some had better ratings while others had worse ones, so I'm not sure how much importance I should actually give these reviews. What matters most to me is having clear communication and reliable customer service if I need help before or during the trip. If I have a question about my booking, cancellation, refund, seat upgrade, baggage, or a flight change, I'd like to get a clear answer and understand the process properly. Hopefully, the staff can explain everything clearly and help resolve any issue without too much hassle. The booking process itself has been straightforward so far, and I haven't had any major problems with my confirmed flight. My main concern is simply whether I should be worried because of the negative reviews I've seen online or whether this is something most travelers shouldn't overthink. Could someone please share their experience with customer service, flight changes, cancellations, refunds, seat upgrades, or baggage allowance? I'm mainly looking for some practical information so I can have a better idea of what to expect and have some peace of mind before my trip.

On both my flights to and from my destination vacation they made me feel as if I did something wrong. First in the way to Mexico they pulled my suitcase and told me that I couldn't take it on board and must check it in when I explained how this would possibly make me lose my bus they didn't care and said I better listen it will not be allowed on. Then on my way back to Los Angeles they selected me to check my bag right before boarding . Again really , I just went through your high security check point , soooo rude to do this and make their passengers feel like they are being picked on. Then as she rummaged through my things and obviously found nothing and made me now lose my priority because supposedly I am on priority boarding the next person selects me to say that my bag needs to be checked in because it might be too large which it wasn't. But since I refused to lift it up on her baggage check since I can't lift bags (the reason both my brothers were with me paying to all board together) she said too bad I'm going to check your bag in now. Seeing that three people all chose to stop me and choose me to stop for each their own reason felt like bullying and harassment. I had to be on this plane feeling awful with a bad taste in my mouth; feeling defeated and picked on. Sad to see others after me not bothered and having purse, backpack and carryon and not stopped while I just had that one carry on. I am so disappointed and disgusted with this airline. I'm Done!!! Done !!!I strongly suggest everyone to fly anything but American Airline. Not my choice in the future and I will make sure to tell my friends and family to chose another.
