The pre - booked taxi man turned up 10 minutes early this morning and didn't know our name - we had to give our room number. As we left the hotel by the port the Norwegian Epic was arriving - we've spent hundreds of nights aboard it. This airport is about 15 minutes from Alicante city centre. On our way in 10:30 night time 9 days ago the taxi lady meandered and took a long time charging £24 and on our way out at 5am this morning 17 April 24 the taxi man took carriageway the whole way at a real pace and £17. It's a fairly compact airport and the taxi rolled up to the door right next to a busy Starbucks - folks getting caffeinated for their red eye flights hither and tither. Once inside you can't miss a giant Tim Horton's and a big Canada logo. We won't do Timmie's as he's (well he's dead by his own hand) his brand is in Northern Ireland a while and serves rubbish coffee and even more rubbish food. Security here was a dawdle and they are all so courteous. Once airside we bought from a local Spanish cafe as I'd rather be ripped - off by a Spanish local than an American or Canadian global brand. Being ripped off is a cert. It's not often I give an airport 5 stars but this place was almost pleasant. read more

Modern airport - new terminal opened in 2011. One of the busiest is Spain. Fast check-in and security services. Short term parking is inexpensive (€1.3/hour). There are several restaurants inside the post security zone: Subway, Starbucks, Chocolatería Valor, Rodilla, Cañas y Tapas, Burger King. Most if them are closed at night. The duty free shop is more expensive than regular stores in Spain. Buy wine and olive oil before you go to the airport. Currency exchange office offers rip off rates as it always happens in airports. Seriously - nothing to complain about, not a typical situation for an airport. Flew in and out this airport probably a hundred times. All issues I ever experienced were due to air controllers strikes in France. Cruel people! Spain rarely offers good service but this time it does. Fly to Alicante! read more

An international airport that can call itself that. Fast, courteous, security get you through pretty quickly. Duty free not too 'in your face', you visit if you want to, not traipsing through to get to your flight. Plenty of bars and eateries at reasonable pricing. Plenty of places to sit and relax. Nice airport, all in all. read more

The Alicante airport isn't huge, but it's got some interesting architectural features and metalwork in the ceiling, and surprisingly it has a fair amount of US based restaurants like Burger King and Starbucks (though who wants to go to Spain and have the same food and coffee they could have back home?). This airport also has an authentic looking Carling Pub where one can get proper British foods and Carling beer while watching soccer and other sporting events. This airport also has a good amount of shopping options, especially considering the size of this facility. Signage is clear and abundant and as a result, I had no problems navigating this airport. We had a few hours to pass here, but due in part to the many food, drink and shopping options, the time went by quickly. read more

First time using this airport. It's very spacious, clean and modern with a number of retail outlets and places to get food and drink. Waiting for your bags to be offloaded from the plane and arrive on the collection belt took forever. Eventually everyone from the plane was stood around waiting to collect their baggage. I went off to make a phone call and took a peek into a nearby shop and was still waiting... Apart from this it was a good experience. I would use this airport again but certainly wouldn't be in any rush to leave the plane and would take my time. read more

One of the biggest airports in Spain and you can tell at the first step you take inside the building. Great connection with the most touristic cities in the Valencian coast. The duty free is huge and there are all the things you would like to buy. The check in and the security control are fast. read more

Modern and middle class airport in the south east of Spain. Close to many touristically relevant places like Benidorm, Calpe, Valencia or Murcia. The place is new. Less than 5 years ago a new terminal and parking were built. Inside is ok for food or drinks. Only few options for shopping. Don't risk parking the car for "10" minutes in the forbidden areas. You can get easily a fine for that. read more

As visitors we can only say that we love coming through this airport. Always so clean and no offensive odours, as we have experienced elsewhere. Staff have exceeded themselves in the Help department. Again, vendors trading inside the airport charge outrageous prices. This seems to an international scam, wherever you go!! read more

The airport is large open plan and very spacious and is easily accessible to many of the local resort towns in the area . The airport appears to be very well run with friendly, helpful and efficient staff and a reasonably quick check-in. The departures lounge has everything the traveller needs. However, the reason for 3 Stars is the unbelievable prices they charge for food and drink. Even by airport standards it is absolutely shocking (a friend was quoted 40 Euros for a 12" pizza!!!!!). A bottle of Coke, a sandwich and a chocolate bar..almost 15 Euro!!. I know Spain is in a bit of a mess financially at the moment, but surely they cant expect to reduce their national debt by over charging at the airports ;o) read more
