Not the best airport I've been in, not the worst. Upon arrival it took quite a bit of time for our luggage to come out. Then it was a small adventure finding the rental car stand and leaving the airport. However beyond that, the arrival was uneventful. When we were departing, the crowd of people was very difficult to navigate. With lots of people and limited elevators and entrances, it created quite the scrum. We eventually got checked in and through security. The lounge options weren't great, but better than nothing. read more

By far one of the shittiest airport's. No one works there it seems, 35 different kiosks, yet 1 - 2 workers (Ryanair specifically) only. If you go to Ryanair, you might as well show up 12 hours early, if you just want to barely make your flight. So efficient for how many flights and people travel through the airport. There was no line around 8:30pm in June at the security for all gates and boarding process was complete within 25 minutes. The loss of your bag at this airport is guaranteed; it is a simple physical law, like gravitation or conservation of mass. To retrieve your bag, the process is quite simple. First you go to the airport help desk. The man there will roll his eyes and jab his thumb vaguely in the direction of the bathroom. Upon walking the half mile towards the bathrooms, you will find nothing. No help desk, and no airline counters. You will see a helpful sign "Ask here for lost baggage." The private group that operates this kiosk will demand 15 euros from you to assist you. Do not pay them. You are beyond the help of mere mortals. If you scan the northern wall, you will find a sole black telephone. Beside it is a greasy laminated card with a list of airlines. Look for your airline on the card. If you flew an obscure and rarely-used airline like Lufthansa, Delta, or United, you will find that their name is not on the list---instead you need to find the name of the third-party vendor that they use to handle baggage. Your best bet is to dial random numbers from the sticky list. They will not answer you the first time. They like to play coy, a little hard to get. Life is all about the struggle, the journey, you see. Once they answer, you will say the name of your airline and they will hang up. You will call your airline's help number, and they will tell you to come back to airport in 3-4 hours and call from the black telephone again. Upon returning and playing phone tag, a very nice woman will appear through a nearby door and escort you to your bag. The whole process will take about 5 hours. Welcome to Mallorca. read more

This review is about the airport not helping me as a disabled passenger. I cannot speak knowledgeably about their other services. It is possible that what Felipé was screaming at my helper, that his department did not know I needed help, is true, but they certainly did nothing when ITA, the Italian airline, repeatedly contacted the airport. They certainly did nothing when other employees of the airport were contacted. After a very nice young man, who should probably get Filipé's job because he cares about people and Filipé does not, rolled me in a somewhat broken wheelchair that I spotted for a couple of hundred meters, we found what you see below in the video, in which Filipé's reaction (white shirt) was that I was at fault for being frustrated with the lack of service. This is after waiting on the plane for half an hour, and then walking with my cane for about 300 m., which was quite difficult/dangerous. if you stop reading here, and make this about me insisting on getting off the plane, you're an idiot. This is after we could not exit the gate. I asked airport staff what would happen if there was a fire at the gate exit, to which they had no response. You do not need to write reports, government officials. You need to give demotions and promotions. You need to make sure that every airline has the following information card provided at the exit of the airplane, laminated, and in multiple languages: 1. The number for emergency services. * doctor * fire * police * airport security * flight control 2. The direct phone number for airport operations. 3. The direct number for disability support office, or whatever they call it. Pretty sure these incompetencies mount to legal transgressions, and are all quite fine-worthy by the EU. A quick in and out from this large airport that is bigger than any "regional" airport as I've experienced in the states. During the offseason, much of the airport was not busy but during the summer months, I can see how these large number of jetbridges and baggage carousels could get some use. According to the airport operator, they'll have as many airport movements here as a regular day at London Heathrow! I did not experience customs or immigration here in Palma as my flight from Madrid was domestic. The usual ticket counters in the European style are here. Signage is great. There is a lounge. There is allegedly a bus from PMI to downtown Palma but I simply got a taxi. €25 to the top of the Passeig de Born. read more

Based on my llooonnnggg wait between flights (5 hours) Waiting 2 hours before I can even re-check my bag this seems like a Stone Age airport!! What do I mean? I wanted simply to charge devices and send some emails from my computer - not much to ask huh??? Well here at this Flintstones airport it is wwaaayyyy too much to ask. Never did find any WiFi that actually works here on level 2 as I wait to check in - and a total of (drumroll please) three yes three electrical sockets all together with people crowding around to get 5 minutes of juice. It seems like Palma Airport is a bit too big for how small an island Majorca is. But that is good! Judging how busy the check-in and security areas were on our departure, we were grateful for four dedicated terminals and a lot of open space. Once you are past security, it is through the duty free torture chamber, err... shop and to the right. For Terminal A, turn left and go down all the travellators/hilly corridors. For Terminal B, turn left and go down the escalators. For Terminals C and D, turn right. All the UK flights go from Terminal A which looks recently refurbished. There isn't really much in it though with just a café, a Burger King, a Subway, a Duty Free outlet and a few tourist shops. Passport controls were surprisingly smooth and stress-free, as I was warned of long queues stretching through the terminal but it only came up to the final travellator and we were through in about ten minutes of joining the queue. Although, only two of the six booths seemed to be open which would be a bit of a bummer at peak times. The terminal building is nice with clean restrooms, sleek surroundings and ample seating. There is also now free Wi-Fi which you have to watch a short advert to get connected to. The connection speed is fast and this makes a great change from the limited access at some of the UK airports I have flown out of. It is easy to get to from Palma city centre, with an express bus going every fifteen minutes from the main station at Placa d'Espanya - this bus is the Number 1 and takes thirty minutes to reach the airport. I would say that this is the best out of all the holiday airports I have gone out of. (Dalaman in Turkey is a nasty place!) read more

I'm sure it's fine as long as everything goes well for you while you're there. But if you have a problem, almost everyone before going through security is shockingly unhelpful. The people at the information "ask me a question!" kiosks were always on the phone and looked at you as though you were a giant bother and inconvenience when you approached them. I was shuttled back and forth between 5 different groups and all of them were completely useless, including the police. Only one person was even a tiny bit kind to me and did make an effort, even though she couldn't resolve the issue either. Also moving between floors is ridiculously inconvenient. As large as the airport is, there should be more central options for maneuvering between floors. Likee, even stairs would be great. read more

Been through Palma a few times now and I have to say this airport has treated us pretty well. We have always been around the tail end of the main summer season, so this was our first just inside peak tourist season. We were departing with Easyjet though concourse 'A'. Arrival was late night/early morning and went off without a hitch. If coming to 'A', you are likely (but not exclusively) going to be flying with a tour company/low cost airline and as such will be taken to/from the plane and terminal by bus, although there are still plenty of sky-bridges. It was a well enough run system with good efficiency and was done quickly. The terminal is well enough sign posted and immigration and baggage reclaim were also both fast and efficient. This was late at night as said, so can't vouch for busier times. Right the way through to our Transunion bus connection to our final destination was fast, friendly enough and hassle free. On returning home it was largely the same experience. However when under pressure to meet a flight, I was much more conscious of just how far you have to walk from check-in to the gates, esp as we were the very furthest gate away (11 I think it was) in 'A'. This was compounded a little by the check in agents holding the queue for our flight before letting us join the main check-in/bag drop queue. This meant that by the time we dropped off our baggage, cleared security, and walked to the gate, there was about 10 mins before we boarded, so no time for coffee or even a brief glance at the shops. Also of note was that due to the layout there are security procedures to pass though (showing passport/boarding passes etc) on the way into concourse 'A', after you have done the main X-ray metal detector bit for hand luggage. This means that you cannot re-visit the duty free or shopping facilities here and once through this second security point will be limited to the food and beverage offerings in concourse 'A' and your gate area. I believe this is to do with 'A' operating like an almost separate facility due to closing during the winter months when tourist season is over. read more

I had no idea how massive this airport is. It is HUGE!!! I flew in and out in June and the place was a total zoo. Security was surprisingly quick but huge lines for food everywhere. Very poor selection of quality food options. Lots of fast food. Little if any choice for a nice sit down dinner. Good bus connection to the center and rental car facility is close and walkable from terminal. Overall this place is a huge massive sterile place. Can't wait to get out of here. read more

I felt sexually harassed at the security check. After going through the magnetic gate that got set off the security woman came to me to scan me with a detecting wand device, which was totally normal, however her male colleague also came over to look at my body while giggling and talking something in Spanish while asking me to lift my tank top around the belly to the woman which I found totally unprofessional and exposing. read more

Small airport but big for a regional airport. It is pretty easy to navigate through to grab your luggage and grab a taxi too. We even rented a car here, which was conveniently next to the luggage pick-up so everything is all in one place. read more

Massive airport for this tiny little island. The WiFi is is super fast. It's fairly easy to get around. Some of the service at some of the restaurants is less than great as the staff is less than friendly and don't seem to know much English. However it's clean. Overall not a bad airport. read more

A huge airport serving millions of sunseeking tourists every year. Once you get here, you realize that this is one of the most popular charter destinations in Europe, served by loads of buses parked outside the terminal. And i wouldnt bet my fortune against that the most common way to travel back and forth the airport is by bus. The airport is spread out over a large area which means you have to walk quite a while to get to assigned gate if you are unlucky. They have a couple of eateries, and shops, but nothing that really blows your mind away. Certain areas inside has recently been remodeled, but they could probably do some more to make the experience more lushy. This airport is def. doing what its meant to do, transporting ppl in and out, but its not the airport that you wanna have a longer layover at since its kinda crowded and boring. read more

Palma Airport isn't enormous as airports go, but it definitely is VERY busy and crowded. Mallorca is a huge destination for pasty Europeans looking for sunshine, so be prepared to half-drown in a sea of mostly British, Irish, and German tourists making a mad dash to get to the beaches. The airport has a decent number of mediocre restaurants and bars and for being so busy, it really does seem to be a fairly well-run place. Spanish police and airport security are everywhere and can be a bit heavy handed, but in the main, it's all (mostly) friendly. When you leave the airport, it's a madhouse of tour buses waiting for the package holiday crowds and representatives trying vainly to locate all their wayward flock. A total cluster f*** that's best avoided entirely. If you're an independent traveler that wouldn't be caught dead on a package tour (like I am), just get your rental car and go. Too crowded and hectic for it's smaller size, Palma Airport does seem to handle it without total gridlock. It's the only airport you can use to get to Mallorca, so grit your teeth and bear it. read more

Not much in the away of food that I found, but I had a relatively short time until my flight boarded after going through security, so it was no big concern. For an airport on a small island, it was remarkably difficult to navigate. For starters, there are no signs indicating where baggage claim is. I searched and searched, yet could not find a logical place where it might be. Finally, I asked someone at the information desk. Apparently, you have to go down the escalators that only reference Gate B and not baggage claim. OK, so I am on my way. But, once there, I am presented with 16 baggage carousels. Again, this is a small airport on a small island. Naturally, mine was the very last one. While not a big airport by any stretch, it is an enormously busy one. This is particularly true when I was there in August, as many Europeans are there on holiday. Hopefully my experience departing from this airport is better than when arriving to it. read more

Airport was pretty smooth at arrival, but finding our way out to the car rentals was a bit tricky. Nothing serious, but anytime you need to ask for direction, means, to me, it is not seemless. (Members to any car rental proceed to the car park, no need to stand in line in the arrival hall). When we were to depart there were some difficulties: There is only one way in after check-in, no matter what LETTER (A, B, C or D) your boarding card says follow the signs to Gate A resp VIP. If you are looking for the business lounges follow VIP. One is located right after security and before module B and is suitable if you are departing from A or B. The other one is located in module D. You have to go up and down to find these lounges. Helpful staff. read more

Incompident staff being rude and not helpful at all. Don't update boards to keep you informed on where you need to check you luggage in. Qued where we was told for half an hour before it was even mentioned that we can't que there wasting out time sending us to the back of the que to then pull us back into the same que BC she made us late for our flight. As well as trying to make us pay to get out bags onto our flight BC she is the reason we are late. Trying to pass the blame onto us. Spent too much wasted time BC of them causing us to rush to our gate. read more

My experience here was very good. The security lines were thorough, but there were plenty open - so you got through rather quickly. There were more than a few places to choose from for a drink or snack. Plenty of room in the terminal building for the kids to burn off some of that energy before the flight home. The only complaint would be the arrival. It took quite a while for the luggage to make it to baggage claim. But, hey, I was on vacation. No complaining allowed. read more

Appalling lack of seating for anyone waiting for their gate numbers. Anyone having mobility problems, or not able to stand for long periods will really struggle here. Seating is only available at eating places, so if your flight is delayed, be prepared to be uncomfortable. Once you get airside, it's slightly better. We saw plenty of people sitting on the floor, not good! read more

Arriving was okay - the bus shuttle driver was salty and told me he had been waiting for me for 2 hours at 11:30 p.m when I arrived at 10:30 p.m. Finding the luggage was a bit much. As for the departure and primary reason, I'll probably not return to Mallorca because it is a "Silent" airport. No announcements regarding gate changes, flight delays or last call for boarding. Missed my plane along with another couple scheduled for the same flight. I could blame them but the ultimate blame is on the customer service agents who work for Norweigan airlines - they could've let me know to stay GLUED to the flight display. Alot of other workers with few who actually speak English but they did mention alot of people have missed their flights here!! I loved the Smooth Jazz Festival at Sa Coma Protur Biomar Gran Hotel - which would most likely be the only reason for a return visit. I'm thinking Portugal next time. read more

We visited the airport lounge between areas B & D on September 27 2014. This was very busy and there seemed to be only one member of staff to manage food and clear away from tables. Once a small tray of sandwiches appeared a queue of 4 people would quickly take what was there leaving about 96% of passengers to eat a few nuts, small pastries and a few crisps. The tables were messy and we noticed that the receptionist had to help out. The staff were overworked and as a consequence the experience was very poor indeed. We did not pay for this as thanks to our banking arrangements we are covered. However if I had paid as I'm sure other people had, I would have been furious. You'd have a better experience not using this facility unless they get this sorted. From our experience you would be wasting your money! read more
