So discovered Aerotucan as an alternative solution to an 11 hour windy bus ride from Oaxaca city to Puerto Escondido.
Full disclosure was throughly sketched out from beginning to end but now that the flight as passed I definitely recommend.
Their website is almost unusable from the US- and their flight charters are very small so book in advance. They fly once a day at 7am from Oaxaca airport. I booked via their WhatsApp agent. Their carry on and checked luggage allowance is very small and I was worried they couldn't accommodate our 50lb checked bags even though he said we could in our chat. Their t&cs say they deserve the right to refuse our luggage if they need to so it was stressful leading up lol. We ended up paying 800 extra pesos which was SO fair compared to other international experiences I've had like on Vietjet.
The plane felt like it was form WWII.. pilot was holding up the sun shade while driving- we were packed in like sardines, but alas we survived the 35 min flight to the coast :). Everyone was pretty friendly fly- no checkin in Advance available so be sure to arrive an hour plus early to make sure your bags get on board :).
Oh also- three of my credit cards got declined because of "fraud" when trying to purchase. Capital one couldn't help after four tries, chase reserve didn't work, I believe my AMEX was the only one to go through. read more
