Napoleon is AMAZING, generous and thorough! Consummate professional. I just bought my first typewriter and really didn't know how to load the ribbon. Typewriter ribbon here costs around $15 and it normally costs $25 to have him load it but instead he taught me for free. I insisted on paying for the crash course because that's knowledge being shared. He even insisted on checking all the keys to make sure it types smoothly! Okay -- so after a very long conversation with the folks at AF about the issues that you can read in my previous post, I will still admit that they have some communication issues. But I can honestly say this: every step along the way the clearly were just trying to do what they thought was best for their customer. They did a poor job keeping me in the loop about it, but they clearly had been trying to do the right thing. When all was said and done, they ended up bringing me a refurb printer to make up for the one they never fixed. And it was generations ahead of the one that died! A really, really nice upgrade for our office. My advice: make sure they're talking to you about their steps, but you can trust them with your needs. read more

10 stars! It's hard enough to find somewhere that repairs inkjet printers, let alone a place with this level of old-school, truly exceptional service. They've been in business since 1982, and I can see why. My Canon MG6220 printer was smudging on colored paper stock and labels (I had already tried all the cleaning processes in the Printer Utility window). I took my wireless PIXMA printer to this Canon-approved repair company. The unit would not power on. I paid the $25 deposit and left the machine for diagnosis. They called to say the machine was fixed and with applying my deposit, the repair would run about $100. When I got there to pick up the machine and plugged it in to check on how it was working, the repair had not been done. The employee was confused but was still insisting that it was fixed and I needed to pay the balance. Both the bank and AF wouldn't return my $25 deposit. I believe this is the right recourse: they didn't look at the machine and still charged me. My only recourse is to tell you what an unscrupulous company this is. read more

Terrible. I took my typewriter in to get checked out and to fix a specific problem. They charged me $85 for service I didn't authorize, and were unable to fix the actual part I wanted repaired. They were nice folks, but I'm out $85 for no reason. I would never use this business again for any repairs. read more

I worried about finding an honest and competent repair person for my Brother HL5140 laser printer after I was unable to remove a thin narrow sheet of paper caught around the fuser unit despite all the usual tricks, watching internet videos about taking apart the fuser unit etc. Some repair folks that I called suggested that they would help me buy a replacement laser printer "at a good price and help me set it up [no thanks!]," or that for $100 they would check out the machine. Then I was referred to George at A.F. Office Machines through a computer repair place. He was very reasonable ($25 to examine the machine, and an additional $50 to complete the repair), fast (machine ready the next day), and very professional (returned the jammed sheet of paper to me). I hope that my printer, photocopier etc. don't break , but if they do, I am very happy to have found this gem of a store and repair person (George)! Quite possibly one of the best product repair experiences I've ever had, anywhere. My wife's Brother MFC-7840w all-in-one printer was continually jamming paper inside. After reading the many positive reviews for Af on Yelp I bypassed a few of my local repair centers and called Af. I spoke to the owner, George. He correctly diagnosed the problem right over the phone: a sticky clutch on the paper feed unit. He told me to bring it in to his shop on Fairfax in Los Angeles. When I got there George noticed I had driven all the way from San Marino (Pasadena area) and told me he would try to do the work immediately and save me another 40-mile round trip to pick up the printer. George had it repaired in less than an hour and it works perfectly. All for just $75 out-the-door. And he even gave me some helpful maintenance tips for my old IBM Selectric typewriter. I had three machines that needed help, and I called and talked to Napoleon first over the phone, before dragging them all in. He was very willing to help me with all 3, so off I went. The first was a fax machine, that indeed was a setting issue, even though I had tried every which way I could to check settings. No charge. The other 2 I had to leave for service because they had to be opened up, but they were ready the next day, and Napoleon was super helpful. Easy in, easy out. Thank you! Great friendly service ~ they were fast, honest, and very knowledgeable! I dropped off a printer for repair and since I was pressed on time, authorized repair and whatever amount of cost it would be. Instead of ripping me off, they called me and told me that the repair costs would exceed 3 times the value of the printer and suggested that it would not be worth it. He came to my house to pick up the printer (I have a newborn and it is hard to get out...especially with a printer so heavy), fixed it, and then returned it to me with no extra charges. I've had my Canon Pixma MP620 since about 2009, maybe longer. It's old but it works GREAT. A super little workhorse. The first time I went to AF was in 2012 because of paper feed issue. George fixed it and it's been running awesomely ever since. I'm a book designer, and after printing a gazillion pages of proofs without a problem, the "ink absorber pads" warning message came on, saying the pads were almost full. I made the mistake of ignoring it and continued printing. Finally, a month ago, the "ink absorber pads" became 100% full and my workhorse stopped printing completely (a locking-out safety feature of the unit). I looked at buying another printer bc they're so cheap now, though the inks are probably more $ with the newer models. I love LOVE my Pixma MP620. I didn't want a new one bc my was still working properly. Just needed ink pads replaced. I didn't want to toss it into the landfill and I didn't want to have to get use to another printer all over again. I googled how-to fix it myself but couldn't make sense of the instructions. I still had about $100 worth of new ink cartridges. So, I bit the bullet and looked up AF, to see if they're still in business. Lucky me, they were! Rula was friendly and appreciated the fact that I was a return customer after all these years. George came through for me again. This time, when I came in, I noticed a small glass display case with old and vintage watches, rings, etc. Turns out a long-time small business neighbor a few doors down had lost their lease but still needed a place to do business. So George and Rula let them occupy a little space to keep that business running. Refreshing to know that there are still kind people in the world who will help out a neighbor. made an appointment with these guys. stayed home from work to meet them: they NO-SHOWED. when i called them, they said that they had no record of making the appointment, but they'd check and call me back in 5 minutes. half an hour later, NO PHONE CALL. i called back to cancel the appointment and they told me that now, mysteriously, the repair guy was on the way to my house. 2 AND A HALF HOURS LATE. I told him no thanks, at which point the salesperson became very rude.
