My daughter went there for a wellness visit. She had some labs done. Got a "hospital" bill for $1500 besides a provider bill for $300.

TLDR: This is a very poorly-run office and a very hostile environment for people of color -- read…read moreto the end. Every year there are scheduling issues. This year I was rescheduled less than 24 hours before my appointment (which had literally been scheduled the previous year) and all I was told on the phone is that there had been "schedule changes." The new time I was offered was extremely inconvenient for me, but I felt compelled to take it because I am conscientious about my health and otherwise the appointment would be 2 months away. At the time I was rescheduled, I had already filled out the extremely long form they send you to fill out in advance, and after they rescheduled me I got texts asking me to do it again. I was later told, at my appointment, that it wasn't necessary to fill out the form again and that the front desk should have told me that, but clearly they didn't. At my appointment, the person (nurse? PA? they never tell you) told me that the reschedule was necessary because "a doctor who was flying back from vacation had her flight cancelled and so Dr. Felle had to cover for her." In other words, doctors' vacation needs take precedence over appointments that were literally scheduled a year in advance. Their office is ALWAYS freezing and on multiple occasions. I have waited, shivering in one of the thin gowns, for over 45 minutes. So, patient time is completely disrespected by this practice, but THEIR time is treated as extremely precious (signs are everywhere saying that if you are 10 minutes late you will be rescheduled -- I never have been late but I am sure they wouldn't hesitate to send you home if, say, your bus was a bit late!) I see Dr. Felle for less than 5 minutes per visit -- she is always in a hurry -- so I don't have much basis for an opinion on her. The most offensive thing of all is that this office has one of those cartoon photos of Ruth Bader Ginsburg with the words "I Dissent." To be clear, RBG was a racist old white lady who only hired ONE Black clerk (out of over 100) during her entire career on the Supreme Court and said that Colin Kaepernick's silent kneeling to protest police violence against Black people was "dumb." Also, if RBG had retired earlier in Obama's second term, he could have appointed someone to replace her and maybe we'd still have more protection for reproductive rights. Anyone can research all this in 5 seconds on the Internet, and maybe think twice about putting RBG on the wall in a gynecologists' office, but apparently no one has taken the time at this office. It's typical liberal white lady stuff -- virtue signalling without actually doing your homework. I have vaguely thought about finding a new practice but I am very busy (especially since I am burdened with tasks like rearranging my schedule at the drop of a hat to accommodate their doctor's vacations, and filling out lengthy forms twice!), and there's something to be said for continuity of care, so I haven't done it yet. I definitely don't recommend this practice to any new patients who are people of color. I am well off, highly educated, and able to advocate for myself, but I shudder to think of how poor people of color must be treated here.

A note on Dr. Rosemary Andrianakos during a particularly challenging period in American healthcare:…read more Some people require medical attention only once or twice a year, but my family and I are not among them. For those with chronic or complex conditions who require scheduled meds, doctors like Rosemary Andrianakos are rare treasures. Dr. Rose's work ethic is characterized by empathy, personal responsibility, and courage, especially in light of the obstacles primary care physicians have faced in recent years. As the Dean of Medicine from a major hospital in the area rightly said, "Don't be too hard on family doctors; many specialists are delegating the sensitive prescribing to them, and it's unfair and messy." Drug abuse is a critical problem, but patients suffer when doctors must choose between providing individualized care and potentially losing their jobs. I've realized that deviating from policy often involves scrutiny, heavy paperwork, and retaining a lawyer, which is unimaginable in a profession already notorious for high stress. If you have ever been turned away from a primary care physician because of the medication you or your family members are taking, you'll understand what I mean. If you're deprived of a humane medication taper to comply with new prescribing guidelines, you'll relate. And if you've lost sleep trying to locate a specialist in time for your next refill because your PCP's decisions are under scrutiny - by any party in a complex equation, you're sure to empathize. In addition to the ailments you struggle with, the policies designed to protect you become an overwhelming burden. As clients, we have limited influence on the mechanisms that shape our care. Under such circumstances, I'm very grateful for physicians like Dr. Rosemary, who strike a brave balance that allows them to stand firm in their beliefs and when necessary, take an active role in finding reasonable alternatives for their patients.
