The office is very busy and noisy but it seems to be cheerful chaos. I was worried at first that they wouldn't be competent, but both Dr. Lin and Dr. Peng know exactly what they are doing. The front office person is very courteous (although the office manager who settles insurance questions- well, she is pretty intense to say the least). The waiting room has a lot of signs telling you not to leave your chewed gum under the seat, to refrain from violence...that's kinda weird. Bit overall, I liked the place. Dr. Peng is highly competent and meticulous. Dr. Lin is a bit of the absent-minded professor, but he really did a fine job with my problem. So I say go there and see if you like them. I do and I recommend them. All these mean reviews before mine are very ugly to read and I do not believe half of them. Who knows why patients can be this mean? Skim the bad reviews as they are not even close to the kind of experience myself and many others have had. Taking one star off because of the insurance lady's abrupt manner. I ended up going to the office to schedule an emergency Tooth Extraction. I currently have an infection in my tooth but also have been sick due to lack pf treatment. I called to schedule an appointment and was told that 3pm they could see me. I agreed to get there and have limited transportation due to finance difficulties and had my friend bring me to the office. I arrived with my Medical Card and my ID and they failed to book the appointment for me and I was left to suffer and actually have been getting sicker because of it. I attempted to contact them again with the situation to try to reschedule or to even talk to the head of the company just to only get madder because of their unprofessional service which leads me to my justified anger / rage for the fact they wasted my day and now I lost work and money due to mistreatment. All of the front desk employees and admin personnel are rude and unhelpful. They all do not know how to check/ work with insurance to make sure you are able to have your cleaning appointment the day it is scheduled. They keep canceling my appointments (this happened 3 times) due to understaffed or other issues and did not tell me until I showed up at their office. I have been trying to have a teeth cleaning for 5 months. One time they double-booked my appointment and did not let me go into a cleaning because they said I got the date wrong but I showed up with my printed appointment date from them and not an apology. I was shocked at how unprofessional this office is, until I read the other reviews here. 15 of 25 reviews are one-star (over 60%), so this a is a pattern of behavior and problem for them. Like others have mentioned, the staff was rude, confrontational and incredibly dismissive. I can't even critique the actual quality of care because we never even got that far in the process. I tried to make an appointment today, January 22 2026, and when calling the office, the young man I spoke with was incredibly rude and hostile. He took my information, then began to ask about health conditions, specifically do I take a pre-med. I answered yes, and he said for what the heart? I said no for joint replacement. He then said I would have to get medical clearance in order to be seen by the dentist speaking very rudely as he said it. He asked about my employer, and I told him, and apparently he has never heard of the Federal Government as a employer as he then said that's not a real employer. A employee at the front desk denied a cleaning for my autistic five-year-old son because she claimed that they needed an updated insurance card that I did not have. With the type of insurance we carry, it can be looked up several ways. This older woman (who would barely identify herself other than "The manager" or "Part Owner" and then at one point the sole owner) who came up to the front desk was immediately rude, immediately abrasive, and seemed like she enjoyed being combative and denying us my son's visit. It is very hard for me to find a place to bring him, get him in for an office visit, and in the dentist chair due to him being on the spectrum, he had been here twice before and was just getting comfortable. I suggested the two other things that would give them our coverage information which I had already used to get into the office in the first place, and she refused to even be polite let alone work with me. She also taunted me on the phone by saying "Well we are the only dentist in the area that accepts your insurance and we can deny you as a patient" Do not go to this office if you want your children (and yourself) to be welcomed and treated with respect and dignity. read more

Extremely Unprofessional Experience I recently moved to the area and have been searching for a reliable dental office for myself and my family. On April 15, 2025, I began experiencing a toothache and decided to reach out to local providers. After consulting with my insurance, I chose Affinity Dental from the list of in-network offices provided. When I called, I was assisted by a very kind and helpful receptionist named Vicki, who answered my questions as a new patient and scheduled me for an appointment the next day. However, within five minutes of our call ending, she called back and informed me I would need to contact my insurance and find another provider. Naturally confused & even she was confused I asked to speak with whoever had made this decision. That's when I was connected to someone named Betsy, who identified herself as the office administrator. Unfortunately, she was shockingly rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. When I politely inquired why my appointment was suddenly canceled, she told me it was because I was listed as an "inactive patient." I explained that I had never been to that office in my life and expressed concern that someone else might be using my personal information. Rather than investigate or respond with concern, Betsy became defensive and dismissive, stating, "You're not the only person with that name in the state of Connecticut." I acknowledged that possibility but pointed out that it's highly unlikely someone would share my full name, date of birth, address, and insurance member ID. She continued to speak over me and refused to let me explain, eventually saying, "Well, what do you want? You won't be happy at this office, so now what?" This level of disrespect and lack of professionalism was shocking and completely unacceptable. I even offered to visit the office with my ID and insurance card to clear up the confusion, but she refused and stated they were closing at 4 PM--despite their website listing a 5 PM closing time. What started as a great first impression quickly turned into one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a medical office. Unfortunately, after reading other reviews, I realized this type of behavior seems to be a pattern. No one should be treated this way, especially when trying to resolve what could be a serious issue involving personal information. I'm not understanding these reviews. From the first phone call to the first visit to my extraction, everyone in that building was extremely nice to me. I'm terrified of medical procedures and was in excruciating pain. They showed great empathy and care immediately. I was even late and they were busy, and still helped me further than they needed to or was expected too. Timely polite and friendly. They got me in ahead of expected time. I'm a big guy. My tooth was terrible and In smaller pieces. He calmed me and maid it almost painless. It was incredible. Back in a month for a check up and a cleaning. Great ready for the nightmare dentist visit! The front office staff is like a zoo. They don't communicate with each other and only accept cash when I went there. They are unknowledgeable about how to bill the correct amount based on my insurance. It took me multiple phone calls to fix this. Eventually I found out it was an oversight on their part and they never even offered me an apology or compensation because they said it wasn't their problem. They said that these mistakes are a part of business and they occasionally happen. Some staff are unknowledgeable, and the other half are just rude. Some of their equipment certifications are out of date and their staff is not friendly. The dentist that saw me when I went wasn't friendly and caused a lot of pain. I want a dentist who's nice and knowledgeable. It would also help if my prescriptions were sent to the right place. Maybe I just got unlucky... Everybody has a bad experience occasionally. read more

My experience was kinda crazy good. Tiffany was an amazing dental hygienist. She kept me really well informed during my cleaning and just made me feel really taken care of such a treat. I have been a patient at Affinity for about 3 years now. I have no complaints about the hygienists as they always did a great job. But I have serious reservations about the actual dentist. A couple of years ago, they filled a cavity for me. Within a week, I was in excruciating pain. I called and they quickly took me back in. The Dr. didn't remove all of the decay before placing the filling which led to an infection below the filling and ultimately required a root canal. The crown they placed never fit correctly. I complained about it several times, he checked my bite and said it all looked fine. Thats because my jaw adjusted to rest comfortably, and over time has not only aggravated my TMJD but has caused my teeth to shift dramatically (I now need braces to fix the spacing and correct my jaw issues). Additionally, the crown broke a filling on an upper tooth requiring a new filling. I was not happy but still grateful to have a dentist. The final straw came about 2 months ago. I was having tooth pain and I had determined the location of the issue on my own. When I went into the office, I explained where the the pain was, and pointed to the exact tooth and the dental assistant proceeded to take x-rays of the incorrect tooth. The doctor came in and said there was nothing wrong with that tooth. I explained they x-rayed the wrong tooth. 3 more rounds of x-rays and they never got a decent image of the tooth in question. Having been in the medical field, I can read x-rays - the one they settled on was a terrible angle and there was no view of the spot I knew the issue to be in. The Doctor looked and said he couldn't see anything except a filling already in the tooth. Said I probably need a root canal. Very quickly looked inside my mouth, and not in the specific spot I said was the problem. He prescribed antibiotics and sent me on my way with a referral to an Endontist. Well, here I am 2 months later, my tooth hurts more than ever and now an area of decay is visible and obvious in the exact location I said was the problem. They missed a massive cavity above my filling. I have an appointment with a new dentist for the filling. I will not be returning to Affinity. read more

I recommend people to stay away from this dental practice. Office manager is unprofessional. Dentist not worthy to practice. Temp crowns shouldn't break twice in 24 hour period. Never called to verify coverage of the crown till after they drilled my broken tooth. Made me pay for crown prep 400 never received the crown. The prep work was useless if a temp crown couldn't stay on the tooth and the crown was ordered. Meanwhile I've had an uncovered tooth for a month now. Would not submit to my ins even though I had coverage nor would she call when the cobra ins to verify even though I had it covered and paid through the end of July.Office manager refused to submit a claim and insisted I pay out of pocket even though I had active ins. I was going to let my minor issue go, however, when I got a letter in the mail, that out and out lied, I decided to write. The receptionist is terrific. She was welcoming. She communicated. It ends there. I rescheduled my cleaning appointment. I had chipped a tooth. I needed to see a dentist ASAP. The cleaning was quick. The drs examination lasted 10 seconds. When he said, "It all looks good", I asked, "Do you know that I changed my appointment? I chipped a tooth. It is uncomfortable?" He answered, "Oh yah, you need a crown. We will schedule you for a silver . . . . " I made it clear, I did not want silver. I wanted white. It cost $900. The insurance will not cover. If I pay, I may lose my insurance. Already angry at the factory like approach, I told them not to worry. 30 minutes later, they called to suggest I schedule an appointment with their crown expert. The following Tuesday, I showed up for my 2 pm appointment. At 230 pm, I thanked the receptionist and walked out. At 330, the receptionist called. She nicely said, "I did not get a chance to say goodbye." I explained to her, that I have a rule. I wait a half hour for appointments, not a second more. You called me. You told me what time to b there. I waited long enough. I then told her, that although she is nice, It ends there. The cleaning was the fastest that I could remember. When finished, my front teeth were still brown. I know that techniques change, but I would be surprised if the modern approach to cleaning is supposed to leave your teeth brown. I told her I was unhappy with the apathy displayed by the doctor, that the examination lasted no more than 10 seconds. He told me everything was fine, that is until I asked him about my chipped tooth. I explained that you asked me to return and that a half hour is enough leeway to give. She asked if I would like to talk to anyone else. I clearly said, "NO". The call came anyway. I did not answer. This happened in February. I had let it go, that is, until I got a nasty letter in the mail, telling me that since I had NOT SHOWN UP FOR MY APPOINTMENTS, they would no longer be able to provide service. Of course, I did show up for ALL my appointments. This place is disgusting. They treat customers like a herd of cattle. It is all about money. It is NOTHING at all about customer care. They told me they would no longer provide my dental care. Five months prior, I had already told them, I would never return. If I were you, I would consider the same. read more

I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life. went in having trouble with two front teeth. Instead of filling the tooth he told me I had to have not only the two teeth pulled but two others that I found after we're perfectly healthy. In fact when they sent out the x-rays for the partial dentures, they were told not to pull the teeth. The office manager has the worst customer service skills I have ever experienced. Refused to get any information for me. Kept telling me because I was on Husky she didn't know how to work with them. when more than 50% of clients of their clients are husky. I left seven messages for a follow, after pulling teeth and going through a severe infection. Refuse to call an antibiotics told me I had to go to the emergency room. When they were the ones who pulled the teeth. more calls were never returned. CUSTOMER BEWARE!! I spoke with Diane a receptionist, she was extremely rude. I think it is because i am Chinese and do not speak clear english. I have been going to this practice since they opened and haven't needed their services for a good three years. Three years ago i would have given them four stars! Since i am covered by anthem blue cross i had to pay co-pays every visit. Suddenly i am hit with a 900$ bill for all my previous visits. I spoke with a Caitlin who seemed frustrated when i asked her questions about my bill. Then my call was transferred to the "head practitioner". She took every chance to flip things that i said around, and she told me that i was speaking in a threatening manner. In fact i was just asking a lot of questions because i am concerned about my bill. She was probably overwhelmed with my questions. But as a result she said shes reporting me to my work company as well as my insurance company. Then she told me that she was going to call the police because of my threatening manner. She is willing to exhaust our emergency resources in order to sleep happy at night. I think the head practitioner acts in an uneducated and immature manner. All i did was ask for proof that they have attempted to contact me as they've stated. No certified mail, no tracking. Looks like they've lost my family as customers. I suppose their yelp rating of 1.5 stars is a testament to their service quality. read more

My host daughter, an international student from China, complained of tooth pain. My wife took her to Affinity Dental Center in Uncasville. Since they speak Chinese we thought she would be able to communicate easier. The Dentist at Affinity said she had a impacted molar (still below the gum line) that was intruding into a sinus cavity. It needed to be removed quickly. He set up a referral appointment (with another dentist in the same practice). He also stated that she had several cavities and that all four molars needed to be removed eventually. The office manager stated the cost for the first one would be $1600. My wife said our host daughter would contact her father. Her father told her to wait till she came home. That he thought Chinese dentists in America tended to overcharge students from China. My wife called the dental office to pass on the fathers' decision and cancel the appointment. The receptionist (after supposedly consulting with the dentist) stated that an airplane trip would cause intense pain, that our host daughter would probably not be able to complete the flight and the doctor would not authorize the flight. Then I called my regular dentist and asked about the possibility of airplane low cabin pressure causing additional pain in an impacted molar. He offered to take a look. My wife went to Affinity to request that the x-rays be sent to my dentist. They agreed to do so. My dentist's office received an email from Affinity, but it appeared to only be the key. Not the encrypted file. My dentist stated that the pain from an impacted molar would not be affected one way or the other by airplane cabin pressure, but could not offer anything more specific without the x-rays. My dentist has extensive experience treating Naval pilots. My wife called Affinity, complained to the receptionist and was referred to the office manager. When my wife said that she thought that they did not send the x-rays because they might not indicate all the work was required and mentioned a review on 'Yelp' the office manager attacked. She threatened to call DCF because my wife was trying to get major surgery done on a minor without parental approval. She also threatened legal action. At that point I took the phone. The office manager stated that they were unable to send the encrypted file because we had not provided a secure email address. One that went direct to a doctor. That they did not send the x-rays because that would be a HIPPA violation. I questioned why they had not told my wife that when she gave them the email address and release form in the first place. I told her my dentist had said there would be no additional pain cause by airplane cabin pressure and asked why she had said that. She said my wife was lying, that she had never said that (my wife told me after that it actually was the receptionist with the no-fly line). I said that's a 'he said she said' she said she had witnesses that she never said that and the file notes would back her up. Furthermore she said that most of the local high school Chinese students preferred to go home for treatment. Our host daughter then flew back to China. There was no additional pain from the plane flight. The dentist in China treated an inflamed tooth caused by a failed filling. He said there was no problem with the wisdom teeth. read more

Had a few appointments with them years ago. They did a filling and the time they were doing it, they were discussing the dentist's personal problems. And the filling was horrible and left me with a gap between my teeth where food always gets stuck. Wouldn't be surprised if i didn't even need the filling. Just so unbelievably unprofessional and to top it off with a bad filling as well left me feeling so disappointed. Didn't feel the teeth cleaning was as good as my old dentist as well and I know of someone else that had a bad experience with them as well. read more

All I can tell you is that I've found somewhere else and this office and staff are truly amazing! They have bedside manners, they understand your situation and they take things seriously, unlike Affinity. All of you that have given this place more than 1 star and/or are "praising" them, all I have to say is, good for you and to each their own. Definitly the worse Experience I have ever had at a dentist office IN MY LIFE! If it wasn't for the dental assistant I would've given the review with zero! Dentist Thomas Lin was the worse! Not only did he not take the time to floss my teeth properly only popping the floss in and out of my teeth once and then moving onto the next but he also did not Buff my teeth properly, only putting the gel on my teeth and then telling me he was done! He did not take any time doing any of these things and rushed threw the whole process. My teeth looked and felt the same when I left as when I first walked threw the door! The dental assistant was very sweet and kind he took the time to talk to me and listens to my concerns. I feel bad that he even hast to work in an environment like that ! He is the ONLY reason why I'm even giving the place a 1 !!!!! Definitely will not be going back to this dentist office ever again!! read more

I had to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. It was horrific. They messed up and had to go back in to take out a piece they missed the first time. Only the second time I was required to sign a paper, the first time I was not! And I had I known, I would have fought it. I only went here because it was the only place my insurance covered at the time. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more
