My family went to this Wells Fargo branch to put money into a CD for a member of the family who is…read morea minor. Prior to going, we asked a bank teller if any documents were required and was told "no, you don't need to bring anything." When we got to the bank, we were told that photo ID was required. Frustrating to get mixed information, but miscommunications can happen; we went home to grab an ID since we live just 5 minutes away. We waited in the bank for about 30 minutes with no one acknowledging our presence. Understandable if the bank was busy, but there were 4 tellers and no customers the time we were waiting. When we asked if one of the tellers can help us, we were told that we had to wait for a specific person to open a CD. When she was available, she told us that we didn't have an appointment and should come back the next day because she wanted to go home early. Our frustration lies in the following: 1. No one told us an appointment was required the in the three trips that were made to the bank. 2. After making us wait close to half an hour, we were told that we couldn't be helped because someone wanted to go home early. We were told this at 4 pm and the bank closes at 5 pm. 3. No one apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged that we had made multiple trips and waited, only to be turned away. We have been loyal Wells Fargo customers for over 35 years and this was the first time we were treated and dismissed as second-class citizens. I am writing this review on behalf of my immigrant parents who are not able to articulate how they felt at this branch. They are remorseful for their frustrated reaction, but they went there with my younger sister to open her first CD (a big milestone for a young kid), but ended up being dismissed and turned away. This branch is an unfortunate example of racism and is represented by a group employees who look down on non-English speaking immigrants. I am disappointed by how poorly this branch treated my parents and sister, and hope that this review will serve as a training and learning opportunity to treat all customers equally. Until then, we will taking my younger sister to a different bank that values all customers, whoever they are and where they come from.

I had a very uncomfortable experience at David Check Cashing Place of Rockland. I came in to cash a…read morelegitimate work check and was immediately treated with suspicion because of the amount on the check and the fact that I'm from NYC. While the attendant assisting me was polite, it became obvious that he was being micromanaged by what appeared to be the manager or owner. I was repeatedly questioned about why I was in the area and whether this was my first time using a David's Financial location. The situation escalated when the manager took a picture of my ID and stated he "didn't want to take the risk" cashing my check, heavily implying that I was involved in check fraud. I understand businesses have policies and fraud prevention procedures, but there's a respectful and professional way to handle those situations. Instead, I was made to feel singled out, embarrassed, and racially profiled in front of others. No customer should be made to feel like a criminal for simply cashing a paycheck they earned. I hope management reflects on how customers are approached and treated moving forward.

I have been a patron of this bank for years & can not possibly say enough positive things about it…read more First off, I switched banks from a large bank to Highlands State Bank after I got tired of being robbed with literally illegal fees. Highlands State Bank is smaller but that's the best part. There is absolutely no fee checking. Open it with $50 and you could take $49 out the next day and there is no fee! Savings accounts just have to have $100 to prevent a monthly service fee. I am disabled & currently don't have a car. Not a problem, there is free completely mobile banking available. Get a rebate check from ebates.....that's ok, take a picture and deposit it with your smartphone. No need to even go in. The staff are amazingly kind & helpful! They go out of their way to make sure that whatever you need gets accomplished. I'm moving out of the area but because the mobile banking is so awesome, I will not be leaving them behind!

I went into this bank today to open an account and have a document notarized. I was dealing with a woman behind a desk when another employee, Mr. Jamal Ahmed became very engaged in my business dealings. He was an extremely unpleasant man with little to no manners and no sense of how to treat a customer. I am in the high tech security systems business and have contracts all over the country. My home is in Arizona, but I have another home in Saugerties NY. I currently have a very large contract that I am working on in Ridgewood and for various reasons, mostly due to superior local knowledge, I prefer to use local banks like this one. As I mentioned, I was going to notarize a document and open an account. I asked the woman to notarize the document and at that point the rude Mr Ahmed butted in saying that they would not notarize a document unless I had an account there. That in itself I found very odd. Most customer- centric banks just do that as a service. Not Mr Ahmed and Freedom bank though! I then asked to open the account first and then I would do the notarization. At that point Mr. Ahmed stooped to telling me an outright lie, that I cannot open an account unless I had a local address. Actually, as per RBI Guidelines you can open a saving account in some another city. If this is the treatment you get when trying something as basic as opening a bank account, I shudder to think what they would be like if you needed them to have your back in some matter. Take my word for it, do yourself a favor and bank elsewhere.
