We're fairly new to the area and booked a last minute vacay. I've read mixed reviews about Affinity but honestly I needed boarding last minute and chose to trust it. The front desk associates were nice but place smells horrendous. I've never seen the accommodations in the back but my children were teary eyed listening to a man yell at the dogs as we waited for ours to be returned to us. For reference my kids are 3-6-9 and they ALL said mom we can never bring him back here. I was filming it to get their reactions being reunited. Our 8 month doodle required over 200 worth of vet bills. He had a fever, uti and gastro issues. I shouldn't have waited to make boarding arrangements. I told my neighbor about our experience and she shared a worse story. I hate we ever dropped him off. read more

I have been using Affinity Retreat for almost two years and while they are not perfect (no place ever will be) - they truly care for the dogs staying with them. My dog has been both for the daycare and boarding. I trust her staying in their care. Followed her special medicines, diet and health concerns. My dog is bonded with each of the staff and gets very excited on daycare days. Affinity Retreat has also gone the extra mile when my dog needed to see the vet next door. read more

We left Rosco for 12 nights at Affinity Retreat and he came back with his nose scratched, but that isn't really that important (at least for now, I hope it doesn't get infected). We had to take him to our vet because he got UTI while being in there. I was out of the country with my husband during the time we left Rosco there and so, I sent them an email to check on Rosco and they responded he was okay and then, I asked them to send me a picture (this was actually something one of the owners offered, he offered to send me a picture)... Well, that picture was never sent... And think we were even nice enough to tip them... If I had known, I'd have kept that tip for our trip to the vet. This place is terrible! I specified what I wanted when I made the appointment and my husband said to only trim certain areas when he dropped our baby off. When I picked him up he was shaved!!! My 3 year old bloodhound stayed there for 3 nights while we were on vacation and came home with open wounds near his paws. We had to pay over $150 in vet bills and our dog, Brady had lost 10lbs. IN 3 DAYS. Luckily the team at Town and Country Vet Hospital in Hattiesburg was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions. The owner of Affinity Retreat, Richard, told us "this happened over night" but the vet said there was no way that the severeness of his injuries could have happened in 12 hour span. I am incredibly upset by the lack of attention given to my dog after trusting them to care for him! read more

This is my dogs favorite place! The owners are the groomers. They are amazing and truly have a heart for what they do. They treat each dog like the little prince or princess that they are!! My dogs always leave looking and smelling wonderful. I highly recommend these doggy groomers. Plus, Affinity does doggy daycare and dog boarding. What I like about Affinity Boarding and daycare, is that the dogs run around and play; they are not in cages. read more

I asked my vet where she recommended I board my dog. Her kennels were full and so was all of the places she recommended. I asked her about Affinity Retreat and she said to avoid if at all possible. Well I had no other choice. I waited too late to get reservations elsewhere. When I brought my pup in, the person at the front desk was not very friendly. They just said okay we will see you when you get back. Didn't ask questions and toted my pup off without me giving her a bye hug and kisses. I called to check on her while I was gone. I asked how she was doing to only be told "fine". When I picked her up, I had the same cold customer service as when I dropped her off. They went and got her and didn't say anything. Just handed me the leash. She looked thin and scared. Once home, she drank water and ate like she had not been fed in days. She was super skidish for several days afterwards. She wouldn't bark, didn't want to be touched, just acted scared and traumatized. I have no proof she was mistreated or neglected. I got pretty bad vibes from this place and will not be taking my baby back! read more

Horrific experience. After a four night stay, my dog had to be treated at the vet for horrific, oozing pressure point wounds on his front legs and all four feet. They didn't notice these or advise me of the wounds which my vet said were either chemical burns or, more likely, the result of having been confined to a hard, abrasive surface for an extended period of time. This is inexcusable!!! Please spare your pet this terrible, traumatic experience. We are heartbroken. read more

Dale and his staff are excellent! I adopted a dog a little while back that had been mistreated, so he had some scars, hotspots, dry skin, and would not let me touch his paws to trim them. They were not ony able to trim his nails, but also had products on site for the skin/hotspot issues. They also have daycare/boarding available (I have not used these services yet) but I ave seen how attentive they are to the animal there. read more

I recently took my puppy here and when I returned to get him, his lower eyelid had been cut open and he had a gash on the top of his head. The only explanation they gave is that he did it to himself. My puppy Is very happy and friendly to other pets, so I don't understand what happened to him while he was there. On top of the fact that when I asked to see the facility that my puppy would be in, they referred me to a facebook page to look at pictures and wouldn't allow me in the back to see the space. We use Affinity for day-care and boarding services, and our dog loves going there. He gets very excited in the car when we get near Affinity and always wants to come back. He loves to play with the other dogs and he always comes home tired. Sometimes he comes home pretty smelly from all his play after being boarded, but they usually wipe him down to fix that and they offer excellent bathing services as well that are reasonably priced. Their prices are VERY reasonable for day care and boarding. Overall we love Affinity and are so grateful for their business because our dog is everything to us and we trust them to properly care for him. read more

Please do not support this establishment. We went to see if this is a place where we could board our dog for the week. First off, the smell of air freshener at the checkin counter is overwhelming and a sign that they may be covering that they do not clean regularly. There is also no grass near the vicinity. Where are the animals relieving themselves? As with any boarder, ask to take a tour. We asked and they declined. Red Flags all around. Please be cautious before boarding your animal at Affinity Retreat in Hattiesburg. Our sweet pup stayed there for 4 days and when we got him back, he had a severe infection in two spots on the back of both legs. He was supposedly groomed 1 1/2 hours before we picked him up and when we brought this to their attention, they denied they knew anything about it, even though the sores were covered up by some kind of powder. The vet had to shave his legs just to see the sores and had to have his legs treated, lasered and put on antibiotics for two weeks. Richard came over next door to the vets office (just within 2 hours of us picking up our pet) while we were there and looked at it with our vet and when the vet questioned what kind of powder/medicine they had caked up on his legs, Richard denied they had any type of medical powder or ointment at their facility and said it was not there when he groomed him just 2 hours prior. The vet stated the severity of the infection was at least 2-3 days old, and our pet was there for 4 days. We got a 2nd opinion from another vet who said it looked like severe chemical burns. The bottom line is - if a pet is hurt while in the care of a facility, that business should take responsibility. Not only did they NOT do that but one of the owners, Dale, was extremely unprofessional and yelled at me while standing in their lobby when I requested for them to pay the $113 vet bill. Richard was sympathetic and professional and was willing to work with us to figure out what happened but Dale was a complete ASS and handled the situation all kinds of wrong and refused to let us see the kennel on video where our pet stayed, as well as refused to pay the medical bill, even though our pet was hurt in his care. After seeing his anger issues by a simple request, I can only imagine how he treats pets if he's annoyed with them or if they piss him off in any way. read more

We have been taking our dog to Affinity Retreat for daycare and boarding for several years now. He LOVES this place. He gets so excited when he realizes he gets to go play with his friends for the day. When we arrive, if they are helping another client and are away from the desk, he barks until they come get him. We have never had an issue here or worried about our baby in their care. We highly recommend them. read more

When I picked my dog up, he had feces/urine on him, had a large scratch on his face, and was thirsty, to the point of dehydration. I called to notify them of this, and they seemed un-phased. At check-in, these folks are nice, but I would not trust my pet turtle with them. read more
