Found this affordable solution for teaching drivers ed myself. I was a bit concerned because it's a good bit cheaper than the national brand I know about and isn't as well known. I went for it anyway and it turned out to be great. I had a bit of trouble getting logged in so I called the company and the phone was answered by a real person immediately. I've had a relatively bad experience at the school in some ways but not in others. Let me explain: I've had a good experience with all my instructors who gave me 2 hour instruction and with customer service at the front desk. However I had an issue with the driving instructor Mike Coady who instructed me through my driving test. Before reading more, please note that all my instructors have called me a relatively safe and good driver along with other people I have driven with under my permit. Me being already nervous to take my test, he was very rude to me the whole time when I was being as polite as I could be. I would ask questions and he'd give a snobbish answer and overall I felt as if I was being spoke down to and belittled. He failed me for a dumb reason, for to this day does not make sense to me. I was parked at a yellow blinking arrow ready to turn after all the cars passed ( just as I'm supposed to). It turned solid yellow and I went. As the rules follow: the vehicle's front two wheels can be in the crosswalk in the intersection as it turns red as I was told by another instructor. I executed my turn, as I believe, lawfully. I'm not making any claims whatsoever but I feel cheated and I'm left thinking, did I really fail? Which he did not explain in detail. As I was trying to schedule another appointment, my mom talked to Mr. Coady trying to figure out why he failed me. Instead of explaining nicely he interrupted her mid sentence and yelled "No, you listen up" twice. Tell me why an instructor is stuck up and mean, but not nice and understanding as they are supposed to be? Shortly after as I was leaving he failed another student, I see a pattern. Do not go with Mike Coady for instruction. If you get him instructing you, change it. Then this story does not end. As my second driving test in which I passed. My instructor was cold and unwelcoming on a test I was nervous to take. Then as he was telling me about my driving he toyed with me and made it seem like I failed. Overall, the moral of the story is: don't get your license through Affordable driving schools, go with A+ (if you live in Parker) or some other place. A driving instructor is supposed to be kind and welcoming. Not cold, or mean. Thank you so much to those kind people who do work at affordable driving schools, but the others please work on being better to those who are just trying to learn in a stressful situation. I tried to book lessons for my son and the staff promised to call me when they had their schedule for the next month. They never called. When I called back to follow up, they had no availability, I am so angry as I would have booked with another school and now I have no time. My son attended driving school with another company. We made a mistake in our scheduling of the actual driving test and could not get him into the other company. I was scrambling to find an appointment and called Affordable Driving in Castle Rock. They were AMAZING!!!! First, they gave me one of their last appointments, then through several phone calls they helped me get registered. (I was having a bad computer day and they were VERY patient with me.) On the day of the test, Emily greeted us with a huge kind smile that immediately helped quell my son's nerves. She went over two new laws that had been put into place after my son's last driving class. She assured him that her goal was not to "catch" him doing things wrong, and to just drive as he was taught. After the test she took the time to sit with the both of us to let him know that he passed and go over a few things he still needed to work on. This was seriously a positive interaction with this company, and I super appreciate them working so hard with us, especially considering that he was not a student with them. I sure hate to disagree with Erins review but I came away thinking this was a low budget operation. Gil's wife set up our first drive and then called and canceled. I stopped by to see why and Gil got mad and wanted to settle it outside, he later apologized explaining that he is Hispanic and get's excited. His words not mine. My kids first lesson included a stop at Petsmart so the instructor could get some dog food, yes they showed it to me. I'm sure glad I could pay them to go shopping. For the second lesson the instructor was going to take my child on the highway until I pointed out that the Dodge Neons tires had the cords showing through and I didn't want them going highway speeds due to the fact that the vehicle shouldn't even be on the street. The last lesson went OK, Gil seems like a nice guy but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Just my opinion read more

The owners have years of experience in teaching, coaching, and running their own business and it shows in their organization, curriculum and professionalism. In one phone call, you get all the info you need to enroll in a course or take a road test. Gil and Emily are such personable and patient people, they are the perfect ones to have teach you or your teen to drive. WHAT A SCAM !! BEWARE of this operation. In my opinion Affordable Driving School is set up to do nothing but take your money. (Cash Please !) My son (20 yrs old and Chemical Engineering student) needed a driving test to get his license. Since the State takes weeks to schedule he went here. Jason Salazar (apparently the owner) failed him for being too cautious. WHAT !! He also FAILED the guy before my son . Then Jason Salazar tried to sell my son lessons. Do you see how this works ? You pay $ 50....you fail....you come back with more money. What a SCAM !!!! When I asked the owner - Jason Salazar how many people a day he FAILS (after he takes their cash) he hung up on me. I signed my son up for their 6 hours of training and I am am no longer to scared to drive with my son in fact he has taught me some valuable lessons :0) I would say the only thing that was kind of inconvenient was the schedule, and even at that we understood because it was just a busy time of year and that was my fault for trying to get everything done last minute! All in all they were great to work with and very personable and flexible with our schedule. I will be sure to bring my youngest to them when he is old enough! read more

The school is good but when you are there just for the driving test, they are not easy going. My nephew was a good driver and he is being practicing for few months and I thought they would pass him but instead they told him to attend the class. I have been driving for overs 20 years and I thought they would easily pass him but they did not. Please don't try going here you will lose your money. read more

I had my twins go through the 6hr training and needed to get them done asap. Being from another state I was becoming frustrated because the laws are so different here. So needless to say I called around and a lady by the name of Krystal answered the phone and was so patient with me and was able to exam the State requirements in a way that was easy to understand. The owner of Affordable Driving school was extremely kind and understanding of my driving anxieties when it came to the road test. I did not pass the first road test, and after becoming distraught over not passing, the owner comforted me on the matter. She then offered to make time to retest me the next day! And I passed! She was very helpful on giving me pointers after the first and even second road test. She made the experience way better than I could ever imagine. This is a great school. Both of my kids came here for the refresher course and the driving test. My oldest went here a few years ago. The experience was very good, so just this past July my youngest did the same. Krystal and Gil are good and friendly people. I would highly recommend finding another driving school. My son had a horrible experience here (Aurora, off of Gun Club branch). When I tried to discuss my son's experience (one where he felt stupid at the end of the interaction) the instructor, Jason immediately became defensive, turning the conversation around to blame my son (who did have some blame in the situation, however he is 16 and the instructor by age, if not temperament, is an adult). Rather than coming to a peaceful resolution, he threw me out of the office. I've never been in a situation where I've been treated in this way. His immediate defensive reaction says to me he either has an anger problem, or there may have been truth in my son's statement (or maybe both). Some of the examples of how he spoke to or treated my son (as reported by my son - he's 16 so may not be the most accurate reporter, however given my own experience with this instructor, I'm siding on more accurate than not): First day of class I was called in to hear my son and the friends he was taking the class with were misbehaving - none of the kids realized how badly they were doing, in fact did not know I was being called in to talk about discipline, but they were told to get me to discuss the schedule. I think that yes, the kids should have behaved better, but if it's a problem, separate the boys, talk to them, don't surprise them later with threats of getting kicked out of the program before trying to manage them - really poor classroom management (in retrospect, probably not a good idea to have my son take a class with his friends). Before he took the written test Jason said, "when you fail this test, you aren't allowed back here to retake the class" (he passed missing only one on the written exam). During the driving lesson, Jason was condescending, pointing out where the steering wheel was, brakes were etc. He told my son how irresponsible he was (and he is, we're working on it) because he lost his permit. He accidently brought his dad's old temporary license because he grabbed a paper that looked like his temporary permit - he wasn't trying to "pull one over" on anyone, it was a mistake (one made because to be honest we don't have the most organized of households), later during my interaction with Jason, he accused my son of being unethical rather than to deal with my complaint of how he made my son feel. Again, I would highly discourage you from using this company. Not everyone has the temperament to work with teenagers (I have two and I want to stick a fork in my eye half the time). Because I always want to end a criticism on a positive note, my son had great experiences with Gil, and Kelsey. I always had positive and professional interactions with the front office staff (unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was very nice). read more

Total scam!!!!!! I called day before. I received a 7:30 appointment from the receptionist. I show up in parking lot at 7:02.. I wait. The owner drives up at about 7:12. I wait (the only car in the lot) ..He not only drives by, but looks me right in the eyes..(secluded parking lot) I atch him go in the building..I wait till 7:20 and decide I will check in early. I walk to door..its locked..I see the sign that says hours 8-5...I think I made a mistake...I go back to car..call number no one answers....I decide I come back at 8?? I get back and he says I was supposed to wait on curb..Charges me 10.00 for missing appointment.. I ask for another appointment and a 10.00 credit..He says NOOOOO You missed your appointment???? I said door is locked, hours say 8 am??? You looked right at me when you drove in in???? He said you should have been on curn at 7:30???? Ummmmm Did anyone mention this? He has a 7 am and a 7:30 everyday.. A NON REFUND APPT..yet he wasn't even there till 7:12....I simply asked for a 10 minutes test.. He said I have no time and you will need to pay another 10,00 for a test a week later?????? This guy is straight scam artist! ) read more

Beware!!! Don't go through this school!!! They are so unprofessional. The first time I called them and left a message on voice mail they never called back. The second time they called back a couple of days later. I had a test scheduled for my daughter for her drive test. They require cash only by the way so they are most likely pocketing the money. The morning of her test they called and said they didn't think they would be able to have her take it because it snowed and the roads were bad. I told them to wait and see if they got better closer to her test time. Jason kept talking over me and going over and over the same thing about the roads. I finally asked him if he was canceling the test and he said yes. I told him that she had an appointment later in the day at the DMV for her drivers license and he said I should call around and find someone else who could test her today. I knew that would be impossible to do. My husband called him back to ask him more details about why he was canceling and Jason became irate and hung up on my husband. Don't use this school. I am glad the test was cancelled and I didn't have to pay a cent to this shotty business! read more
