And, we could not have been happier with our decision to hire him! From our first interaction with Don, his wife Lauren, and his contracting worker/partner Jeremy, to our last, we were completely impressed. Their work ethic, attention to detail, and craftmanship were so impressive and their responsive customer service was second to none! Any construction project that displaces you in your home can be stressful, but if you are going to have contractors "living" in your house for an extended period, Don and Jeremy were a pleasure to have around. Their fun senses of humor, and their calm demeanors did not get in the way of their ability to stay on track with our projects. Don timed everything really well, from cabinet arrivals, demolition, and installation, to coordinating with the other company's flooring, countertops, and painters. He came early and stayed late whenever needed, and never left before cleaning up and leaving his workspace spotless. Don and Jeremy worked together with us to come up with a great design for our kitchen remodel that came out absolutely spectacular! They brought their creatively collaborative ideas for our Master Bathroom (working with Volpe Tiles, also terrific!), that involved breaking through a walk-in closet (which they rebuilt) and building us a new closet along our bedroom wall. The result was a beautiful bathroom "oasis" and two great organized closets. We are so grateful to Don and his team - The joy that these two remodeled rooms have brought us is immeasurable! As great as the designer was, the craftsmen were equally excellent. Demolition went off without a hitch. They made sure to constantly clean debris, dust, and other bits. The highlight was the tile workers' expertise: they were EXCEPTIONAL. The quality of their work still astounds us. They made the bathroom. Our master bathroom is now the best room in our house. They prepped and painted two rooms, including the baseboards, trim and ceiling. They replaced and painted a set of closet doors and replaced the rickety attic stairs. They also fix the bedroom door where it is now fully functional. The work took two days, but they transformed the two bedrooms. The crew was polite and professional. They worked quickly, quietly and with skill. I could not have asked for better. Mr. Grubb was very responsive to emails and quick to address all our concerns. Thank you for the good work.

We hired Reico (and worked with Cindy) for a full kitchen redesign, and the most important element…read morewe asked for was an island that would seat five people comfortably, with storage on one end. We were extremely clear that the seating needed to be unobstructed--essentially, a counter-height table extension from the cabinets. The final design we approved included an apron, but no measurements were provided to explain how it would impact stool clearance. The rendering even showed five stools at the island, which gave us confidence that it would work as intended. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Because of a poorly designed apron, it is physically impossible to fit standard counter-height stools under the island. The clearance is so low that no stool exists that both fits under the island and allows you to sit and eat comfortably. In other words, the centerpiece of our kitchen--the island seating--is a total failure. It is appalling that a professional kitchen designer would overlook such a basic and critical detail. We assumed we could trust her expertise, but that assumption has left us with an island that cannot function as designed and no reasonable options to fix it without a major renovation. If you are considering working with this company, be warned: do not assume the designer has considered the practical details. Double-check every measurement yourself, because we learned the hard way that they do not.

When we received the design and estimates, we did get a sticker-shock with respect to the markups of the costs. Based on our designer/contractor interactions, however, we were still considering Reico, even with the markups! But, the level of responsiveness dropped dramatically. Before we knew it, we were informed that our designer (the great lady) was "no longer with the company" and I now have all these spam-type calls from random people I don't know at Reico. Rude.
