Central Philadelphia locksmith actually was able to arrive in 45 minutes and take on what ended up being a significant project. They did great work that night, I later hired them for another project and even referred friends there. This has become my go to locksmith in Philadelphia. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Showed up on time a few days later with a lock I didn't pick out, beyond the color (black), but didn't mind how it looked; it was fine. Replaced the lock and was charged OVER DOUBLE the price ($380). The locksmith was very nice but the work was done, so what was I going to do? I told him I was quoted closer to $200 and he said I had been communicating with his mom, and it was her call. Also, black locks were more expensive, apparently. I will take responsibility for not confirming the amount before the work was being done but I felt totally taken advantage of. The process of moving is stressful (and expensive!) as it is. Was very happy to call a small, family owned business but this was a terrible feeling and was completely price gouged. Two stars because it's been a few months and the lock is working just as expected.

I like the fact that he called to tell me he was on his way and the time it would take to get to my house. This was important because a friend offered to drive from a great distance to sit with me until a locksmith arrived but with a short ETA, it wasn't necessary (saved my friend time and gas). Russel was friendly and worked quickly on that rainy evening to replace the lock on my security door. Unfortunately, because the lock was a deadbolt he had to drill through the key hole to remove the entire unit. Although a bit expensive, I'm very happy with the quality of service received from Jefferson Locksmith from the time I placed my call up until the end of the service call and I highly recommend them. If you don't think so, call someone from the burbs and find out the hard way. Joe the Lockman charges a fair price, provides excellent service, and runs his own business. He goes calls in the am and operates his store in Styvesant Plaza on Elmwood Ave in Buffalo, NY in the afternoon. He even can order and program your car key without charging and exorbitant fee like a car dealer would. And yes- he likes to eat dinner with his family. So if you need his services, leave a message.
