It is probably my favorite dessert. I mean, how can you go wrong with cheese baked in a semolina crust and soaked in sweetness? I researched places to eat Kunefe near the Galata tower and Yelp showed me Tandir. It is quite close to the tower and we walked in during one snowy evening around 8pm. We were the only patrons in the small space and the kunefe was made fresh from scratch. No pre-prepared stuff here. Needless to say, it was delicious! It was not as mind-blowing as the ones I had in Akko and Haifa, but it is great. There are other desserts on the menu, but I went here to eat kunefe alone. I would highly recommend stopping by to try some classic Turkish sweets. All the menus come with English translations underneath each item, so it's very approachable for tourists as well. Additionally, there's a ton of seating and a clean bathroom available on the third floor. Knafeh (4.75/5): This was my first knafeh and it certainly won't be my last. It was hands down one of my favorite things I've tried the entire time I've been in Istanbul. It's sweet, crunchy, slightly savory with the cheese, and overall just an S tier food item. I'm going to be ordering this every time I see it. Tavuk Gogsu (4/5): This is the infamous Turkish chicken breast pudding and it's genuinely pretty good. It's also not a big chain so the quality is just that bit better. A good place to buy sweets in town. Just be prepared for the tons of locals in there buying and tasting and arguing :-))

If you're at the Grand Bazaar, it's barely a 10 minute walk down a hill, a straight shot on a street that is directly south of the GB and runs north to south. Look at a map. Off the beaten tourist path and in a local neighborhood. BTW I promise they didn't pay me to write this. I'm just a baklava fanatic and this was really just that good.
