My daughter was craving for egussi and fufu, I decided to try this restaurant near my friend's house. They have a big menu that offers a variety of entrees. We called in the order and drove there. This restaurant is busy, when I walked in there were 5 people in line and few people waiting on the side for their order. Small restaurant, no dine option. They have some pastries under the heat lamp, otherwise wait 20 minutes for the food to be cooked. I also ordered the sambusa and the meat inside was delicious. I went before they closed around 7:45pm (they close at 8pm) to get food for my daughter to try, but they were already closed. But this kind lady behind the counter (didn't catch her name) made it happen. I ordered the egusi soup with yams, so amazing and flavorful! Definitely recommend! This is the best African food you can find in the cities area. So far I've tried the egusi soup, pepper soup (very spicy!), curry, fufu, jollof rice, plantains, and beef patties. It's all been consistently made fresh well and perfectly seasoned. Staff is always super helpful even though I butcher the pronunciation of some dishes. There's plenty of meat options but you can get them all vegetarian if you want. My personal favorites are the beef patties and sweet plantains. You'll find that this place gets extremely busy right around lunch and dinner time, but always stays clean despite it being small and seating maybe 7 groups at a time. I ordered food for my daughter's birthday party. $144.00 to be exact. I have ordered from here before the food is usually great. Last night we purchased egusi, plantains, and greens - not great but ok. But the Egusi Soup was her main request, we bought 4 large containers of it and It was awful. ALL OF IT! I have never had egusi that tasted so bad - it was bitter with a sour aftertaste. And surprisingly, no seasoning, no peppers, nothing. Of course, I called the restaurant and no one answered the phone. It was too late to return the food. I was so surprised by the taste of the food - it was not edible. This ruined our dinner party and I will always remember to not buy anything from this restaurant again. Order from them at your own risk. I would give them a zero on last night's food but the program insists that they get one star. they really did not deserve one star - this dinner was a complete failure. A ton of options. I recommend deciding what vegetable entrée that you want first. Then, you can add whichever meat to the veggie entrée. They don't really allow you to add veggies as a side, so it's best to pick the veggie first. A great thing about this place is they allow you to choose multiple meat options without any extra charge. I've been here before and have ordered some delicious West African Food. Unfortunately, today this wasn't the case. My order was mixed up, and my greens were burned. They added beans to my jollof rice when I asked for a side of beans. I wasn't satisfied with the quality or taste of my food at all. When I informed the staff of the taste of my greens, they taste them and agreed and provided me with a new batch. The customer service was fine. The environment was clean. I am extremely disappointed and don't know when I will give them another chance to redeem themselves due to such a poor experience. This place is from the heavens. We stop in at least once a week. My loyalty goes back to when they were on Regent Ave and it makes me happy to see a mom and pop grow to what they are now. This place is busy, wait times are up to 20 minutes, but everything is cooked fresh and is always worth the wait. Call your order in ahead of time to avoid the wait. I typically order the rice dishes and the fried chicken wings. The spicy puff balls are good too, if they don't run out. I order the collard greens with goat, spinach with chicken, or the potato greens with chicken. You can add up to 4 meats, but I keep it simple. They also ask if you want it spicy. If i could put 0 stars i would. My order was wrong, they put turkey in my egusi and i specifically said i did not want turkey. My cassava leaf tasted horrible no seasoning or even salt. The pounded yam had a texture like mashed potatoes i couldn't even pick it up with my hands i had to use a spoon. I called back, they were so rude on the phone. African Deli was my first love. It was refreshing to find a Nigerian restaurant in the state as we lacked those. Loved the meat pie, and the suya. I just always had a problem with the spicing of their meals. Their moimoi lacked spicing/red bell peppers to give it taste, the rice also lacked the appropriate amount of tomatoes, and the fried rice lacked the right chicken broth/vegetables, but I must say that their Liberian meals were great. I especially enjoyed the Liberian pepper soup made with roasted turkey. I also hope that they improve their sorroundings, but this is a problem I know all the restaurants face. read more

The food is always so delicious. They never steer me wrong when I stop. You have the ability to choose no spice, mild spice, or very spicy.

I love this place for when I need a fufu fix. The spinach stew is also delicious. The owners are friendly and we can call our order in ahead and its ready in 20 minutes or so. Prices can't be beat and the portions are huge. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more
