We decided to grab dinner tonight at the newly renovated and under new ownership After Five. I've always LOVED their food in the past, so the standards were pretty high. Beautiful renovation. Couldn't have anything bad to say about the overall appearance. The menu is revised and smaller, but all the choices sounded pretty darn good. Because we were on a little time crunch (baby Kyle was ready to be done with dinner before it started) we both ordered baskets - sandwich and fries with a soda. The Sundrop was ice cold and delicious out of the can. The pulled pork sandwich was decent and the burger was, well, a burger (plain). The fries were cold and soggy. I would have probably asked for fresh ones but no one ever came back to the table (the big table had the staff attention). Went to pay the bill and nothing was ever asked about the food. So we paid and left. Stopped at DQ on the way home for fries and they were DELICIOUS! Three stars for the decor and small town atmosphere and because I really wanted this to be great. read more

But for nearby construction, we never would have found this gem. It's nothing on the outside, but when you walk through the doors you are welcomed into a very clean and well decorated dining room. Really trendy lighting and design, including a great corrugated tin ceiling. It would be a great event spot. They smoke their own meats. We had ribs. They were awesome. Tender but with a great chew. And the house made BBQ sauce is the bomb. It is a South Carolina style mustard based sauce. But a little less vinegary. It was also a perfect dipping sauce for the crispy tater tots. Yum. My brother ordered the ribeye. That was tender as well. Loved the optional sautéd mushrooms and onions. Most meals come with a salad bar and soup. When we were there, a woman delivered cherry tomatoes from her garden. Need I say more about the salad bar?! Oh, they have pop on the menu. Not soda, pop! Love it!! read more
