The rooms are very nice and clean and the outdoor seating is great for hanging out. They provide dinner the night before, breakfast and lunch. The food is always good but you better be hungry because it's a lot of food!! We have been with several different captains over the years and they are all great. If the fish aren't biting, they will keep moving to other spots so we can limit out. We have been with Carl most of our trips and he is awesome! They also clean and filet your catch. We like to keep our redfish on the half shell. We always look forward to our trips and have invited friends and family to join us. They have been equally impressed as well. We came in from California with a group of 10 people. We stayed at Zach's amazing fishing camp…read moreright on the water out in Port Sulphur. This is one luxury camp, more like a beautiful condo on the water. Due to the size of our group we rented both their boats, so we had Capt Zach as well as Capt Brad as our guides. The first day was right after the storms and the water was cloudy but what a day. We first stopped out in the Bayou for on the on-the-water bait shop to pick up our shrimp bait. That day we landed a monster Red Drum it was so large we needed to release it but what a fight, and we all felt good about doing the right thing. The next day, we limited on speckled trout, caught more Red Drum, one again so big we needed to release it, and sheepshead. It was fantastic, and they had set us with amazing food and beverages on the boat. The camp has a perfect kitchen below the cabin (as well as a luxury upstairs in the living quarters) and we fried up all this fantastic fish that night and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. I cannot recommend this guide service more! Both Zach and Brad are exceptional guides who know how to have fun while still fishing hard!

Could not sleep after the trip, pondering on how great the people were and the fishing was unbelievable. Caught more fish in four hours than caught in 45 years on the pacific out west. This is an excellent little spot in the park to fish. Coming from mid city down Carrollton/Wisner…read moreand turning left onto Harrison into city park, this fishery is easily accessible and offers parking right on the side of the road basically anywhere you see fit. I always park on the left side of Harrison right after the fist bridge and walk along the canal back towards midcity. As an avid fly fisher, I've fished a lot of spots along this canal with many different flies. Right off the road I've pulled in nice bluegill on small top water flies. About 50 yards down from the road is a footbridge that crosses the canal. The bluegill and rio grande cichlids are abundant right here, and I've also caught a few nice bass (and have seen even bigger bass) from this footbridge. About 75 yards down from this bridge is another footbridge. Walking down the left side of the canal (the wisner side) there are some very nice spots to cast under an old oak tree that stretches out over the canal. Bluegill and bass abound here. From atop the second footbridge here you have access to one of the most abundant rio grande holes in the park. I've seen many rios in this location every single time I've been here. Use an olive or brown wooly bugger (non bead head) to hook into a fish you won't forget catching! Farther down from this area the spots are few and far between. Most of the bank in this area is overgrown and extremely hard to cast from. If you're lucky enough to have a kayak, you can paddle down past the second footbridge and reach some really productive waters. It's not uncommon to catch 5lb+ largemouth bass if you can get to an area you can fish. Almost all the rios in this area break 1lb, as well. This canal is also home to spotter gar, blue catfish, black crappie (sac-a-lait), red ear sunfish, and red spotted sunfish. No extra size or bag limits other than the statewide size and bag limits apply. Keep in mind that Rio Grande Cichlids are an invasive species and it is encouraged you keep any that you catch. They are extremely tasty, though, so this isn't really a bad thing. Keep in mind that I wrote this review from a strictly fly fishing based point of view. It's really the only experience I have fishing this part of city park. All these waters are much more accessible if fished with bait and tackle rods. I've personally caught and identified all species I've mentioned in this review in the 200 yard or so stretch of canal reaching towards midcity from Harrison. I hope you all catch a lunker!
