It was a no brained then to transition our two boys to the Tega Cay location. We were disappointed from day one. The infant room was good for the most part, attentive with food, breast milk, and diaper changes. Once in the Toddler A classroom they taught good nap habits and for the most part were great with my youngest. There were several teacher changes so after a while we received no updates from them, and saw our son no longer progressing with his speech. For our oldest, we told them he was just turning 4, but they put him in a room with 2-3 year olds. There was an immediate teacher change and the kids stopped doing any workbooks or had any control in the room. I complained and then suddenly he was moved to a room with kids advancing to Kindergarten for the following year. This was night and day and he flourished. Unfortunately the head teacher retired and they merged two classrooms into one. Almost 30 4-5 year olds with only two teachers. Again we saw these teachers overwhelmed and our oldest seemed to no longer be progressing. It boils down to poor administration. These was very poor communication from the Director who took a long time to respond to parent inquiries or emails. Teachers often complained to us about lack of support from the Director, hence the turn over. We ultimately moved our boys in less than a year to another local school and are very happy there.

How can they handle infants? I found my kid sleeping on the dirty carpet many times. They also show iPad during diaper changes etc. - front desk is a shit show... they are always all over the place. They upload pictures once a week because of some weird photo approval policy. No other daycares I know do this. - they say that they have video and you can watch in the office but it's a sham. The video is rotating between rooms and it barely stays in your child's room for a few seconds. We pulled out our kid very fast after seeing how terribly this place was run.

That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

They exceeded all expectations, and I am realizing what childcare SHOULD be like compared to the old daycare. Dogwood excels in the following areas that I find important: Communication: The staff is prompt to communicate on all platforms, through the app, email, and phone. Food: they send out the weekly meal plan, and it's always healthy and nutritious food that my son loves. He's a 99th percentile guy, and so he eats a lot and is never hungry when I pick him up (unlike our old daycare). He probably eats better than me most days here! Staff: I can't say enough great things about the management and teachers here. From the moment we walk in, there's a smiling face at the front desk available to help with anything we need. The teachers clearly love what they do, my son loves them so much. After a year of challenging drop off and pickups with tears at the old place, it's refreshing that there hasn't been a bad handoff since the 2nd week. He even tried to go back in after picking him up he likes it so much. Facility: it's a beautiful facility and CLEAN!! Ample parking, and well thought out. Photos: I have received photos every day, to me this is important as the old daycare I was lucky to get 1 photo a month. They even put little text with it sometimes. This makes going to work and leaving my son at school a lot easier. To summarize this very long review, Dogwood is excellent and my only regret is not coming here sooner. As he has progressed through the different age groups, each and every class room has been wonderful. Teachers are always willing to communicate, we have transparency into his daily activities, we get multiple photos daily of his activities, and he is learning so much. The food they serve is healthy and my son loves it. He gets breakfast and lunch each day. All home made right at the school. Their education programming is thoughtful and fun, with themed ideas each week/month that are great. They value sensory learning at a young age and keep children engaged as they get older with one on one learning each day. They also have as few plastic toys as possible, focusing on natural materials. Overall we feel like my son is in great hands each day!!!

The staff is excellent, she never had a teacher who didn't connect with her on a personal level and she always received top-notch personal attention. Her development both interpersonally with her classmates ("friends" in the parlance of Goddard) and her readiness for kindergarten was amazing. She was so well prepared that during her placement test for the public school kindergarten she currently attends the teacher giving the test came back after a few minutes and said: "Well that was the quickest test ever. Your daughter already knows everything she needs for Kindergarten." And it is not just the staff. Goddard attracts great kids and does a great job of teaching them. Every day when I dropped off and picked up my daughters I was surrounded by "friends" who would be just as excited to see me as they were my little one. It really is a great community of learners who are nurtured to do their best. I would completely recommend it as the finest daycare (honestly it is more a school than a daycare) in Rock Hill that I have run across and anyone who wants their child to have a successful start in life should seriously consider sending their child there.

Honest review from a parent who has had 2 kids here. One child for 3 years and the other child for…read more3 months. Stayed because there were no other daycares around with vacancies in the area. Pros: - The classrooms here are bigger than other daycares in the area - Flexible drop off and pick up times - Offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the kids included in tuition - Some of the staff like the assistant director and teachers are great Cons: - Staff shortages especially in the infant room. There are times when the ratio goes beyond the state mandated 1 to 5 - Tuition increases, multiple times in a year - Teachers are supposed to send 2 pictures per day per student. On average we would get 2-3 pictures per week. - Incident reports (reports to parents when child gets hurt) were no longer sent home to us. Our child came home with a quarter sized raw scape on her knee without any report. - Outdated security measures and check in - Director is not properly trained and does not do her job well. She did not treat parents fairly and would not respond to emails sent multiple times For the price you pay $1400 a month, you will find newer facilities that just opened in the area with updated security measures, cameras, much better student to teacher ratios, and quality management.

Basically my son attended the Gateway on Mallard when he was 1 and I gave that location 1 star and left a detailed review. I was shocked! During the 7 months my son was enrolled in the Mallard location he had 7 different teachers! That location was awful. The only reason he was there that long was because I had to wait for a spot to open at kids r kids. But I was still willing to give this chain a chance based on all the 5 star reviews the Whitehall location recieved on google. However, since this chain penalizes parents and children for leaving honest reviews on bad experiences, I have to question whether all the positive feedback on this location are authentic. I am thankful they exposed their true colors before my son could be enrolled. Thank goodness for freedom of speech!
