She was warm and an encouraging during my cold reads which helped ease my nerves a bit. I got some great feedback and inflection advice as well as some experience reading in front of an actual mic. Both September and I were pleased with the progress made during the session. The session left me feeling excited about taking my next steps towards becoming a vocal talent. I came to Atlanta looking for a new group of actors to hang with and hone my skills. I had great…read moreexperiences with my former coach but I needed a local group. I looked at a few places and didn't find a reason to settle in anywhere. UNTIL I audited two classes at this newer studio called Atlanta Hollywood Acting Studios. The first two classes I sat in on were with Miss Erin Bethea and found her script breakdown to be in line with mine and had a great time as I watched her instruct her actors in preparation for their live debut in another month or so. I enjoyed her light hardheartedness and the love she has for the craft. I audited the Classical Meisner class with Dave Cox. He is a gentle person who thoroughly enjoys his work. I noticed that he was auditing closely the actors as they ran their scripts, not only to guide them, but to analyze where they were on their personal learning curves. GREAT! It was the end of the session and he grabbed me to run an improve scene with another actor. HE was auditing ME! FINALLY a studio that was concerned about, not just filling a seat and getting some cash but whether or not the student would be good for the studio and it's name in the long run. Good business minds! I was so comfortable with the class that I did quite well and now I am part of there MORE THAN REASONABLY PRICED Classical Meisner class. Ready for this? After one audit and one class in which Mr. Cox adjusted me, I booked a national commercial for a well known network, over the phone! Now that should speak to you volumes on the effectiveness of their instruction. Every ones journey is different buy walking on a rocky path isn't necessarily the best way to travel. I didnt…read moreknow if i was an actor before i met him. after i got up in front of the class and did my first scene ever he looked at me and said "youre an actor" that was 5 years ago and he is still someone i know i can call if i ever need help with an audition or anything acting or non-acting related. He is an amazing actor himself and knows the work inside and out. He will push you, make you mad at times, make you cry, but he will always make you laugh. He is not the "guru" type that makes class about him. it is always about the work and the students. He doesnt embarrass you or make you feel small. He makes you feel like youre 10 feet tall and can do anything and will guide you in a way that you respond to. He practices mindfulness in class and we used to always start the session with a group meditation and to say our name and why we were there. Its a way to be clear with you and everyone else what your intentions are. Ive never done that in any other class. Its powerful. He will never ask you to do something he wouldnt do himself. His studio is a safe haven for artists to come and work and fail and fail better than the last time. I was in his master class for a year and it was a little family that cared for one another and we always pushed eachother to work and hard feel safe to try new things. Great lighting( a must have), great camera quality and he can do play backs right on his TV in the room. He can provide suggestions or not. I like that. Sometimes you know exactly what you want and sometimes you could use an extra pair of eyes looking from different perspective. Very efficient. Edits your audition and slate right in front of you to make sure it's how you want it and sends off if you need it done then. Also have to mention he is flexible. I've gotten quite a few quick turn arounds and he's accommodating, which is a life saver. Highly recommend him for your next taped audition! P.S. He also does quality headshots. Best place to develop as a latin dancer in Atlanta IMO…read more Niya Patel is my favorite dancer to watch from Atlanta; her mix of afrocuban, mambo, and western forms of dance (ballet, jazz, etc) is sooo sweet to watch - and learn from. Allen (Albert) germaine has a great knack of growing his students while keeping the classes fun. Best musicality as a lead in the city IMO. Best atlanta salsa and chacha student dancers come out of the dance schools here. Period.
