We bought cafe appliances there and also the extended warranty. They told us if we don't use it we have $300 to spend after it is up. They DO NOT tell you that you have to spend a considerable amount of $$$ on 1 item to redeem. And forget about warranty. Cafe appliances are not cheap, but most of the lights are burning out already and they call that wear and tear. They do not service what they sell they give you an 800# just like Home Depot does and they have no parts. So we are now buying ours from the depot. Gave them 1 star because I couldn't give 0! Gave Agrens a 2nd chance, after 5years. After walking in the door on a Saturday & I accidentally knocked over a display sign. I found the store empty , finally a gentleman came out from the back room . I Stated what size stove was needed & with storage draw and Knew & was ready to spend $4000-6000. With only 1 floor model to look at , we escorted brought to a computer screen gave a couple of options. We were quickly told , of their No Return policy. I thought with their new distribution facility , they would be stocked fill...Wrong Again . Nothing soften the blow & found myself waisting my time , & the so called Non-Sales person . I have shopped at Agren Appliances for over 30 years, and I would not consider going anywhere else. Their selection is great. Their costs are very competitive, especially when you start looking at all the additional charges - delivery, installation etc. The staff takes the time you need whether you are buying a $10 part or outfitting an entire house. 3/28 I ordered a full suite of Whirlpool appliances. Delivery was 4/21 we received all but the refrigerator but an appointment for delivery 4/28 was made. No one showed. My husband started looking and when he clicked on a attached link it said canceled. This set off alarm bells, we got no call not contact at all about any problem with the order. This is poor customer service. At this point we drove 45 miles to Auburn location. We were not given good customer service there either. He said we were called but there was nothing on my husbands call log. He did not offer other options and did not try to make good on the situation. Which to me as a customer would have been to offer a product that was comparable to the item we purchased and offered the next available delivery. I suggested this path and the delivery date given was another 2 weeks away. At this point my trust in Agren's was already waning and his poor attempt at making it better quite frankly sucked. Next Monday the 5th I might have been amenable to but to not make an attempt to get that date or one sooner tells me that Agren's was happy with my $2k and no longer cared about the fact that I had already waited 5 weeks and now it was going to be 7 weeks to get my refrigerator. I ended up requesting a refund and took my business elsewhere and I am getting the 5th for delivery. Agren's has lost my business. Zero communication, zero follow-up and underwhelming customer service. I have purchased 6 Refrigerators in the past 8 years and this has been by far the worst experience I have ever had. Sales and installation are excellent. Service is nearly nonexistent. They say they will service anything they install, but after several nonrefundable fees, you will be scheduled weeks out, leaving you without an appliance. Be forewarned that you will be on your own after the installation. You will need to search for repair work elsewhere. read more

the only thing that works well is sales. Once they have your money you are unable to get any assistance. Delivery and installation on 4 out of 6 appliances had major issues including reversing hot:cold on washing machine, damaging fridge door (it's been over a month and still no word on replacement), taking away appliance that was supposed to be left and SECOND range arrived damaged and was taken back, though I was not informed and the company verified everthing went fine when I called to check how it went. Now it will be 2 months at least without a range I paid for on Labor Day. Voice and emails and texts not returned. I paid in full months ago so I guess they got what they wanted and I am up a creek. read more

No one greets you, they hardly look up from the desk. The place is filthy. But as we wait for our washer/dryer that we paid $45.00 for delivery and that was supposed to be early afternoon (between 11am-1pm) we have seen nothing (now 5:45). I purchased all my appliances from Agren for my new kitchen. I was very happy with sales, Kevin in S.Portland is terrific. HOWEVER, the service side of Agren has been a nightmare. First, I was told my year and half old Thermadore refrigerator was off warranty and they billed me $180 for service call. Turns out fridge has 2 year warranty but I had to tell Agren that. After appointment Service tech told me that my practically brand new fridge needed all electronics replaced and it would take THREE WEEKS for parts to arrive, this on top of the week I had to wait for service call was crazy but luckily I was going away for two of the three weeks. I left instructions with tech and service coordinator how I could be reached and how to access house to do repairs. I called tech and service department to confirm the day prior to appointment. I was told appointment was on. I just returned home with guests to a still broken refrigerator. It has been 5 weeks!!!! Either the repair was done incorrectly or it never happened but I didn't know yet because no one has called me back. I'm livid. They had my number, if there was a problem I should have at least been notified. read more

I have a new Smart GE Washer which I purchased from Agren's. It stopped working and it took over 3 months to get it repaired. It has stopped again and I have left a message that may or may not be returned. My clothing is inside the washer. The only way to unlock the washer is to take the top off. Well, I watched the repairman struggle to get the top off so how the heck will I be able to do this? All of my appliances are from Agren's and this is now scary because I am sure they are all out of warranty. Seems like they have their own scam going on by not signing customer's up for free extended warranties and then when the piece of junk breaks down they charge ridiculously high prices just to have someone come look at it. They can stop blaming the pandemic for no service or no delivery or whatever the issue. We have heard it all. I am done with this company and I have been their customer for over 20 years! They can have their washing machine back and I will go somewhere else to get a simple plain dumb washing machine. read more

Worse service ever! I've been waiting to have my dishwasher repaired for over 4 months. 5 visits and they still can't figure it out. Each time they have to reorder the same parts but they never install them and then the parts are returned to the manufacturer, only to be reordered again? Nothing but run around and "they only support products they sell", I say they don't support anything. Extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at the Auburn Agren. After not one, not two, but THREE attempts to deliver a Samsung stackable washer & dryer set, I had to ask for my money back and cancel the entire thing. I understand the busted machines were not the direct fault of anyone in sales or the delivery men, but where I hold them accountable is how they handled the issue. Machine after machine was delivered to my house only to discover the washer was too bent to stack the dryer on top. It took multiple calling attempts to even get through to someone while the delivery men were standing in my driveway and I was missing work. The best they could tell me was "we will get another one delivered". After the third one arrived, Ben Gauthier insisted the delivery men try to assemble the damaged machine in my house anyway and "make it work". He didn't offer any discount or anything. I had to bring up the fact that if I were accepting a busted washer, I didn't think I should pay $900 for it. He offered me $100 off (after I had asked). Sorry, I would not pay $800 for a busted machine either. It turns out after stacking them the dryer was teetering on the large disfigured bump and couldn't connect to the stacking kit. So it was useless because my house only has space for stackables. I called Ben Gauthier back and said its not going to fit and there was a pause on the phone (he probably didn't know what to do) and I finally said just give me my money back. He said ok and that was it. The ONLY reason I am giving a star on this review is solely for the demeanor of the two delivery guys Ben (not sales Ben) and Payton. They were good sports each time they came to my house and truly felt bad for my inconcenience. They even spoke to me about other brands that were even better than Samsung and gave me a ton of good advice for what to look for when purchasing these appliances. I'm so grateful for their advice, but I also can't help but wonder why that did not come from anyone in sales?? They have other brands, they knew there was an issue with the specific Samsung I was ordering, but no one offered any help at all or even an apology for the inconvenience. I was not looking for any freebies, just some guidance on how to make the situation better. As a new homeowner, I'm going to find myself needing to buy many appliances down the road and I really hoped Agren would be my "appliance guys". Now I am without a washer and dryer, still waiting for my $2k refund from them, and a whole month of my time wasted. Not to mention I have a Samsung stacking kit that I purchased on my own, specific for these machines and is now basically useless, so I am out $50 more. If anyone from Agren reads this, I really hope you do better. I've been in customer service so I know it's tough and a lot is out of your hands, but I was willing to work with you and make things right as I know it wasn't your fault. Your sales people made it clear I was an annoyance and not their problem. Also note Ben (delivery guy) and Payton both deserve a raise because they were put in an awkward situation of delivering broken machines, but managed to have me laughing and looking at the bright side of things. I purchased over $5000 worth of appliances, which included delivery and installation. The kitchen was not ready for appliance installation, so the pieces were left in the garage for later install, which saved the delivery crew about 1 1/2 hours of time. I paid my builder crew to carry in and set up all pieces except the washer/dryer, which they put in place and didn't hook up. I asked Agren if they could hook up those 2 units when they had a crew in town for any other delivery, in order to save them time and trouble. They wanted to charge me for hooking up the washer/dryer after I had paid my construction crew to finish the install of fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher that had saved their drivers 1 1/2 hours by not doing on the initial delivery. Still need another washer/dryer which I definitely will NOT buy from Agren. Have heard other stories about disappointing service since then. read more

Just called Agren "the largest appliance dealer in Maine" to see about scheduling a repair for the household dryer I purchased from them. It is October 29th and they cannot get a service person to take a look at the dryer until November 11th. Try going for two weeks without doing a load of laundry in your family. This is not the only time they've been unable to schedule a timely repair for us. Last year it was three weeks - supposedly because of the summer tourist season here in Harpswell. I'll look elsewhere for my next appliance purchase. read more

Our refrigerator was dying so we decided to check Agren's for a replacement first. We went into the Topsham store and there were three men behind a counter. We had just stepped in through the door and one of them asked what we were looking for. I said that we needed a new refrigerator. He said, "I just want you to know we can't deliver for probably three weeks". We said ok. He pointed where the refrigerators were and we asked if he could join us. He said to narrow it down. We knew exactly what we wanted because we had already researched. He came over begrudgingly and then answered a couple of questions ... again, begrudgingly. He left us and we looked at what they had. We circled the store and then left. No one spoke with us again. We decided to go to Lowe's, found exactly what we wanted and purchased it. It was a great experience. During the sale we told Jenny what had happened at Agren's and she said we were the second couple THAT DAY with the same experience. read more

I'm saddened to write a less than great review. It's pretty small potatoes, since it's only a $50 dollar part: but 50 bux to us isn;t chump change, at this point in our lives. Part wasn't ordered when he said it would be(a day delay), and our fridge is dead: I told him that. I could have ordered online for almost 1/2 cost, but was in a hurry, and it IS good to support local business. Part weighed about 5 ounces, and they charged me $5.xx shipping, even though it came in along with a number of other things. Just not impressed. I also wonder, how long they would have been getting back to me with it's arrival, if I hadn't have called in? :( read more

Bought all appliances for two houses from them salesman great. Appliances have had lots of problems the most recent being one of the ice makers--called for repair---told no problem still under warranty but next appointment is 3 weeks out. Since it was a warranty I said ok. Repair guy comes---ice maker is toast, he replaces it and says that will be $240----oops sorry no warranty--- Those jerks I would have had the local repair guy fix it if I had to pay ---no need to wait three weeks.. Bought a $1,000.00 Bosch washer and purchased a service contract 2 1/2 yrs. ago from the Brunswick store, I like to buy local thought I would get better service, I was extremely wrong. The washer broke, it took them 2 weeks to come out and look at it. Now I am being told the part is national back order and they have no Idea when the part might be in IF ever. They proceed to tell me its NORMAL to wait weeks even months appliance repaired. WHAT? I have never heard of such a thing. This inconvenience is unacceptable. I have emailed them twice with NO response. I call and left messages for the Service or Parts Manager and nobody calls back. The attitude I get is they really don't care, and that I can be inconvenienced and go to the laundry mat. I understand they have no control over the Manufacturing of the part However they DO have control of CUSTOMER SERVICE or LACK there of. So buyer beware, just because you buy local doesn't mean better service. Lesson learned here. read more

Buy with confidence here. I got an unbelievable deal on a new house Maytag appliance package. Over the years I've purchased a total of 8 major appliances from Agren and 3 from the Big Box Stores. Agren almost always has the best price, and their service department is top notch. You can get a real delivery time from Agren, as opposed to a 4 hour window from the big box guys. And if you have a problem, and that's rare with Agren, they will stand on their head to please you. You can't go wrong buying here. read more

Called agren for service on my refrigerator I bought from them 1.5 years ago. The lady I spoke to told me that it was probably a bad compressor and it would cost more that a new one. I told her I still wanted it fixed she told me it would take 2 weeks to send someone to check it or I could buy a similar frig for 499.00 and have it delivered today. I was so angry that I hung up and called someone else and they came over the same day and fixed it for only 144.26 and it know runs fine. Do go there, they do not want to repair any more they just want to sell so if that is the case you should buy at the box stores. read more

Prices are fair, but delivery schedules mean nothing. What the salesman promises doesn't get conveyed to the warehouse delivery people. We were to be third delivery of the day, not later than 11:00am. I started calling at 12:30, got through to the warehouse, and they "expedited" delivery an hour later. The warehouse man said the delivery order from sales said "any time". A letter to the owner about the problem got no response. read more

I bought an expensive high end range from Agren. They needed to come out twice to repair immediately after purchase. Then, they started to drag their heels when it still didn't operate correctly. I said, I'm canceling my credit card purchase. They were irate. Finally, after bitter exchanges, they replaced the broken unit with another one and I insisted an extended 5 year warranty be included. Here's the good part. They didn't realize I filled out the warranty card in the packet on the broken (returned) one. One night I get a call from a local couple who just bought a brand new range at full price from Agren and they can't understand why I had filled out their warranty card (matching serial numbers). It appears my first, broken range was resold to this couple by Agren as new. read more
