As a person who has drug testing done at least 10 times a year for the past 9 years, it has always been my experience that patients are given a plastic specimen collection cup which is about 3 times wider, and with that cup they would pour the specimen into to testing tube that she provided me with. Knowing this, I asked Cam if she had any other cup that I would be able to use, as the one she provided with was way too small, and she told me no. I knew this would be a problem as I do not have male genitalia and would not be able to comfortably and accurately urine in the tube. Because I had already checked in and started the process, I was no longer able to walk out and find another labcorp location that provided their patients with the appropriate supplies, lest I'd be automatically failed. I went into the bathroom and it went just as expected: the specimen went everywhere except for the tube that I was provided: all over my hands!!! And because of the top that is attached, some of the specimen spilled out of the floor! I was called out of the restroom, with urine on my hands that I'm certain transferred to the restroom door, I immediately looked for a place to discard the tube and washed my hands. I threw the tube in the trash bin next to the sink and Cam shouted for me to take it out of the garbage even though she saw me washing my hands. I told her what happened in the bathroom and she provided me with water and told me to wait to try again. I asked her once more if there was anything else wider that I would be able to use and she shook her head "no". I told her that I would not be able to provide a specimen and she explained that the test will be marked as a refusal and failure. She then wanted me to sign and I refused to sign as I did not agree with her marking me as a refusal as that would surely make its way back to my employer. I DID NOT refuse to take the test. I was unable to get the urine into the vile provided due to inadequate collection supplies. Cam was not the most helpful or accommodating. As a female herself, she should know that those tubes are inappropriate and as a woman who is a bit on the bigger side, I can not see my urethra and would not be able to accurately put the urine in that small tube without a mirror! I may very well have lost a job opportunity due to Cam's apathy and failure to provide adequate supplies for all patients. Please clean the restroom's door knob.
