They have been difficuly to deal with, closed my claim before I even gave additional documentation and they are giving me a hard time. It's been 3 weeks. Took a trip to Scandinavia and experienced a missed connecting flight resulting in overnighting and 2 more cancelled flights the next morning due to heavy fog. AIG says our initial 3 hour flight delay which resulted in the missed connection did not qualify under their 6 hour delay excuse. Will never use them again. read more

I agree with every other review here. It is a totalscam. They are going to find a way not to pay no matter the legitimacy. I purchased a flight from North Carolina to St. Louis for my granddaughter. The night before she was to take the flight, she experienced a medical emergency and had to seek treatment. She was unable to fly the following day due to the medications she received and unable to walk on her own. AIG wants "proof of medical ability to fly when the flight was purchased" ( 3 days before the scheduled flight). She was "medically able to fly" UNTIL the medical emergency! So how do you prove that??? I only filed a claim for the extra hotel charges for one night and the difference between the original flight and the rescheduled flight the day after. I have always felt that trip insurance was useless at best and a scam at worst. I was right. I went against my better judgment and paid $48 for a segment of a complicated international trip, because there was a close connection involved. Bad idea. After missing the connection (4 hour delay on United Airlines - of course!) I was stuck in Guam for 26 hours and missed most of my planned stay in Palau, including 2 nights hotel stay, for which I was still billed. I recently planned a hotel stay for a night in New York. I purchased the insurance policy just because I have had to cancel trips in the past. ZERO STARS!! I got that worthless travel insurance just in case! My father's brother passed and his service ended being schedule for the days I would be traveling! I hardly ever have to cancel nor I event get insurance! I have been waiting for weeks now to get reimbursed for around 300 dollars! I purchase an AIG insurance via Expedia for my car rental. On the second day of my trip, I had severe accident where I broke my foot. Despite having medical records, police reports, and all the documentation from Alamo rental car as required by AIG, they denied my claim stating I was committing fraud, which for me made no sense for the reasons stated above. I purchased a round trip United Airlines ticket from Virginia to California to visit my terminally ill uncle and added travel insurance through AIG Travel. When his condition worsened, I changed my flight, ultimately spending $1,775.33. Sadly, my uncle passed away before I could travel. I notified AIG of the situation and filed a claim. Bought tickets for my family to go on vacation months in advance and bought AIG travel insurance. My girlfriend then got pregnant and was under going health issues due to pregnancy complications. I bought travel coverage through Expedia with the assumption that if I had to cancel the nonrefundable hotel reservation i would be covered. Within a day of making the reservation and purchasing coverage I found that I had made the reservation at the wrong Hampton Inn. It was a location 9 miles from my event rather than 1 mile. To make a claim with AIG travel I had to cancel the original reservation which I did assuming the insurance would cover. However the claim has been denied as not meeting their criteria. Now I have a cancelled reservation because I had to cancel to be informed that travel insurance doesn't cover an error. This travel insurance is worthless unless you fit into their box. AIG Travel Guards processing practices are not compatible to other companies. My experience was cumbersome and lengthy. Documentation was excessive and files were not monitored closely causing the insured to resubmit requested paperwork. Each time new documents were submitted a full 10 business days was at play and I, the insured would initiate 50% of the follow up on the claim. It took 2 months to process my claim.
