Where do I begin? I guess with some ground work. I'm a 100%…read moredisabled military veteran who was traveling through the state of South Carolina in an effort to make it to the birth of my son in Georgia. After being pulled over in August 2017 for a license plate light and arrested and jailed for driving without a license the Prosecutor/Solicitor decided to substantiate charges of POSSESSION of CANNABIS with INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE. Why did this happen you may ask? The reason is simple, I choose to medicate holistically, and not through the use of harmful and addictive opioids or other drugs the VA pushes on vets that don't have quality long term testing and often have harmful side effects. I brought a months supply of cannabis through South Carolina and was threatened with a 5 year prison sentence for what is perfectly legal in more than 25 states either medically or recreationally. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO TRAVEL THESE LANDS UNMOLESTED. It took more than 18 months after securing representation for the prosecutor/solicitor to bring the case forward, and when finally it was set for a date my schedule wasn't consulted nor my attorney contacted to see if it fit his schedule. Now you may be asking yourself WHY DO I FEEL ENTITLED TO HAVE MY SCHEDULE CONSULTED? That reason is easy, with the epidemic of veteran suicides as well as overdoses from opioid consumption in our Country it's imperative to consider previously scheduled mental health appointments when you understand that I live more than 2,000 miles from their jurisdiction and need to plan travel so that it's cost effective as well as not triggering of my PTSD. So as soon as I'm made aware of the date and it's conflict with my previously scheduled mental health appointments I reached out to my attorney to have him inform the Solicitor of the conflict. The response from the solicitor was that he wouldn't respect my mental health appointments that were scheduled out months in advance and instead request that a bench warrant be issued for my arrest. I've never heard of a jurisdiction that didn't acknowledge the right to request a continuance, not to mention the circumstances surrounding the situation. HOW'D IT ALL TURN OUT???? A $200 fine plus court cost for a total of $690 WHAT ARE MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS??? Bradley McMillian is a trash human being Aiken County doesn't support veterans SC as a whole needs to wake up and stop living in the 1900's CANNABIS SAVES LIVES I BETTER NEVER SEE BRADLEY McMILLIAN AGAIN OR HE'LL CERTAINLY GET A PIECE OF MY MIND.
