I was incredibly pleased to find Dr. Gerber and his colleagues in Littleton.... and they accept my insurance - another feat! This practice is amazing. I've seen Dr. Jennifer Hooker several times now and really appreciate the attention she gives me. She's interested in not only the data (labs, bloodwork, vitals, etc.) But we talk about my lifestyle, my diet, how I'm managing stress and my quality of sleep. When was the last time your doc really listened to you? The office is very comfortable and offers magazines that support your health (cookbooks, LCHF research and articles). This alone made me smile when I first checked in. The office staff is also super friendly, patient and also very attentive. I appreciated the atmosphere they create. After all, generally when we're visiting a doc's office, something's up. South Suburban Family Medicine also offers a free support / networking group once a month on Friday afternoons for those just learning about the keto / LCHF lifestyle. How cool is this?!? From my very first interaction, I have been incredibly impressed with how organized, professional, and genuinely kind everyone has been. Every single person I've spoken with has treated me with compassion, patience, and respect. I made it a point to remember some of their names because they all stood out: Essence, Erica, Rachel, Brittany, Dr. DeFrancisco, and Dr. Tyler (and I know I'm forgetting a few others who were just as wonderful!). What truly won me over was an experience that reminded me of how doctor's offices used to be--when people genuinely cared about the patient, not just the appointment schedule. While I was receiving an infusion, I desperately needed a cortisone injection. Even though Dr. DeFrancisco wasn't at that location that day, he responded to my message almost immediately, coordinated with the staff between offices, and arranged for Dr. Tyler to see me right then and there without a scheduled appointment. That level of teamwork, communication, and patient care is rare, and it meant so much to me. Dr. Tyler was absolutely hilarious and instantly put me at ease, and Dr. DeFrancisco has been everything I hoped for in a rheumatologist--knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in his patients. Dr. Strohl was at the hospital the day of my cerebral hemorrhage. She spoke to the neurosurgeon when things didn't look good, and he chose to operate even when others said I was 'too far gone.' I am convinced that if it weren't for her, I wouldn't be here. She is passionate about her patients. She advocates for them. That's what you need in a doctor today. God definitely broke the mold when He made her.

Each time, I left messages for the provider, and the message I got back was, "the provider says you have to come in." These were relatively minor issues that, in the past, other offices were able to answer over the phone. We all know that health care is now big business and the providers don't get paid unless they have someone come in. Recently I called to set up an appointment with an alternate provider (in the same office), and I was told that wouldn't be possible. They even put me on hold to verify this. I have never experienced this before. After reading some of the other reviews, the providers might want to take a serious look at the office staff. It looks like the days of Dr. Welby are in the past (Google it).
