Air France: A Decent Flight to Paris, But I Missed Delta! I recently flew to Paris on a flight booked through Delta but operated by Air France. While I knew it was a partner flight, I was a little annoyed that my Delta status didn't fully carry over, which meant my chances of a complimentary upgrade were basically slim to none. As someone who flies Delta pretty regularly, I definitely missed those perks! The plane itself was nice and HUGE -- I don't think I realized just how large it would be until I boarded. The downside? The economy seats were tiny and not particularly comfortable, especially for a long-haul flight. The meals were decent, but in my opinion, they didn't compare to what I've had on Delta. I requested a gluten-free meal, but I guess one wasn't available. Thankfully, the chicken and rice dish they served was gluten-free, so I was still able to eat. I just left the couscous and the hard, cold dinner roll right on the tray. One area where Air France definitely delivered was the in-flight entertainment! There were tons of movie options, TV shows, games, and plenty to keep you occupied throughout the flight. The flight attendants were pleasant and professional, although I didn't interact with them much because I slept for most of the flight. Overall, it was a perfectly fine experience and got me to Paris safely and comfortably enough. But between the cramped economy seats, missing gluten-free meal, and limited benefits from my Delta status, I'd probably choose a Delta-operated flight next time if given the option. read more

Staff was very rude and hostile. One attendee yanked my seat aggressively. Highly do not recommend this airline.

THE WORST, they don't even deserve one star. I recently took a five hour flight from Paris to another European city. It was the most uncomfortable flight: first they did not weigh all my luggage at check-in, my one large piece of checked-luggage was actually underweight and was no problem. They took it and gave me my boarding pass. However, when I got into the security line, just before the X-ray belt the aggressive Air France agents weighed my carry-on, which was the proper size and my small backpack and they told me I was 7 kg overweight and that I had to check my carry-on. Had I known they were going to weigh my small pieces of luggage (which I have never seen in all the years I've been traveling all over the) it's strictly by size and piece...in this case I would have moved some items into my larger bag before checking it in to stay compliant. These crooks made me pay a $250 fee which was almost the cost of my ticket and screwed me over. The proper thing to do would've been to weigh everything I had at the time I checked in so I could've had the option to move some weight into my larger piece of underweight luggage. Then before taking this flight, I went to the Air France lounge in Paris Charles du Gaulle, and a nasty attendant rudely said "this lounge is only for business class passengers" which was not true. Anyone flying Air France could pay a fee and use the lounge and its amenities. Business class passengers had complementary access but all others could pay and use. I had to escalate this matter to management and register a complaint and I was eventually allowed to do so; but only three hours before my actual departure time. The experiences before, during and after were horrific. This airline only cares about it's business class passengers because that's where they make the most money. Coach passengers are packed-in like sardines in the most uncomfortable airplane seats I have ever been in. After this horrific experience, I vowed never to fly Air France again, even if I have to make a connection. in the photo below, you can see the pathetic meals they serve the economy passengers on a five hour flight mind you...A Dixie cup of warm Coke, a tiny sandwich with one slice of ham and a half slice of cheese, and a biscuit. Never again! read more
I have flown AF many, many times - all around the world over the years, short and long haul...my favourite trip was always Southampton/Paris - so handy...and then they stopped it. It has always been an iffy airline - you are never too sure how its going to work - how abysmal the food will be, or whether you will be delayed (most times - why can't they sort out the too much baggage issue BEFORE you get on the plane!!!) or whether everything will be smooth and problem free But this is a 5* review for something completely different We flew CDG to Stockholm and back last December - we were getting married in Sigtuna (review follows). On the return flight, as we went onto the plane, the stewardess saw I was holding my wife's hat - she said how amazing it was; I said it was her wedding hat and I needed somewhere safe to put it During the flight, another attendant came around with the sandwiches (ugh) and drinks...and spilt a little water, apologising profusely...it was nothing really, but he returned later with glasses of champagne for us...I erroneously thought he had spoken to the Stewardess, and said aha is this because we got married...he said no, and looked puzzled He obviously spoke to Stewardess and they put 2 and 2 together - not a wedding, but our wedding...next minute, the Captain was on the tannoy and told the whole plane - and where we were sitting - so bedlam, everyone cheering and whistling -- so embarrassing, but fun The attendant returned and asked for our details and said AF would send us some gifts...nice thought...but they did...2 things each, including 2 very useful, decent wash bags Lots of thought and initiative by the crew - very nice to enjoy read more

Air France has degraded considerably the last couple of years. We've done this trip (SFO to CDG) - same time of year (Fall), same time (3:30 PMish) - for 10 or so years. At least 3 to 4 of those times, including this year, I had no choice in meals because they ran out of the only meat option by the time they reached us. They no longer offer you a drink after takeoff. Instead, you wait until dinner, which is a couple hours after takeoff. Worse, my meal, a vegetarian chili - was cold - and the cheese was a processed American Wisconsin cheddar that tasted like compressed Kraft singles. The bread roll has been terrible for ten years. The ubiquitous cold lentils are flavorless. In the past, when the lights were off and most people were sleeping, Air France used to bring chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bars to those who remained awake (and they were good). This too is no more. (Also note: flying back to SFO at the end of the trip, our plane sat on the tarmac for over 2 hours past the scheduled departure time.) read more

Horrible airline! Even if you have to pay a little more for another airline it's worth it. Airline does not care about customers. Misplaced luggage, delayed flights, customer service with an attitude. The only staff that were nice were the flight attendants. read more

Never, ever fly Air France. Horrible customer service and unethical business practices. My return flight from Paris was cancelled and I filed a request for a refund on March 27, 2022 prior to the return flight scheduled for April 3, 2022. The amount of the refund is around $1600 USD. I have documentation of confirmation of the refund request dated 3/27/2022 from AirFrance. After calling AirFrance customer service line (on hold for over two hours) a month ago, I was informed that it would take 7-8 weeks to process my refund after submitting the March 27 2022 request. I called today (6/01/2022- over 8 weeks later) for an update and was told that "there was a glitch in the AirFrance refund system and my refund had not been processed". Now I wait another 8 weeks for a refund of a flight they cancelled and a system issue that is AirFrance's responsibility and ?????? No email communication about the refund processing "glitch", no updates, and I can't access the original reservation on the AirFrance website. And they have been collecting interest on my money for months. These are problems you can expect to have if you choose to fly AirFrance. read more
