I love this event and I'm so glad they were able to do again. Looks like more people are taking notice too. Not only is it free and a chance to see some amazing color at the end of winter (a time of year that can a look a little drab), but even the food and venders are reasonably priced. I just got a large slice of pizza from Salvatore's for $4 and a bag of popcorn from Doc Popcorn for $3. A nice lunch for a Friday afternoon. I love walking around and finding all the little details that Airigami has included in their installation, it's like a life sized look and find. There is also a small store, with a photo booth ($5 for a keepsake photo). Just like last year they have created some events to tie into the exhibit, including an Enchantment Under the Sea Dance--with a nod to Back to the Future (2015--get it?). The dance is sponsored by Yelp Rochester. There will also be another popping party this year, where participants will get to pop the balloons (with golf tees I heard) and discover prizes inside the balloons ($10 a ticket). Can't wait to come back later this week with my family and my good camera. I always love seeing the creative things Airigami can do. They also do custom installations for meetings, conventions, parties and even weddings--in fact they created a piece at the Rochester Makers Faire for the NYSCATE Convention at the Convention Center back in November, which was really fun to watch them build. Balloon mania! Great temporary exhibit that is fun and very clever. The creativity is awesome - it is amazing what they can do with balloons. This is the second year we have gone to this exhibit in the Sibley building. Kudos to all of the sponsors of this event! read more

Awesome to see what talented people can do with balloons. We got there on March 8 at 230p with hopes to do the Balloon Popping but then found out it was Sold out - we were super disappointed. Next year we will buy tickets online before hand. We really enjoyed visiting the Yelp table and had some great Karma water samples. What a cool thing. Rochester has so many amazing random events and this is one of them. It generally takes about a week or so for the balloons to be all set but you can watch them being set up the entire time and they always have a kick off date when it is done and all of the balloons go up and into their places. Once the balloons are set they are generally up for about 2 amazing weeks. I loved being able to walk there from work on my lunch break and just hang out and take everything in. I always found some new little detail after seeing it again. The themes are also always amazing. I truly loved the Under the Sea theme from a couple of years ago. I was able to go to the popping party in 2016. It is an awesome idea but the execution needs a little work. It took ALL DAY LONG. That wouldn't be a big deal if it was full of adults, but it was full of children who were getting hungry and missing their naps. You got a number and you had to wait for your number to be called to have a chance to pop any balloons. Once your number was called you got less than 1 minute to pop. If you found a rolled up piece of paper in a balloon you popped, you could claim it for a prize. Once they go through all of the numbers, they will start the process again. You may get 2-3 turns but like I said, it takes all day long. They can truly make the popping party a bit better. It would be great if they let the time you got to pop for longer so this way there is only 1 round of popping. It would also be great if you could pick a time for popping ahead of time so you there are less meltdowns. Overall, the balloons themselves are amazing. I loved seeing them and I will miss that but the popping party leaves something to be desired. read more
