I meant to say "but" but my phone decided it prefers the word "butt." It takes after Daddy. Really though, Penfield is one of my favorite parts of the region. And one of my favorite people in the region looks here. I meant to say "lives" but "looks" is accurate too. Hottie. Actually two of them. One of them is a Yelper. Hi bae. There aren't too many good food options around here. For that you should go down to Henrietta. But there are lots of cute girls and a really good YMCA. And some nice Farms. But not Funny Farms. Just because I grew up on one doesn't mean I go looking for them.

In a part of Rochester that I would call "up and coming," this artwork is on the traffic island at…read morethe intersection of Lake Avenue and Route 104. It's hard to miss. Three painted steel arches joined at the peak, connected by cables. It was built in 2006 and incorporates solutions to engineering challenges as part of its aesthetic: the structural beauty of tension and compression. It is 36 feet tall. Maplewood Arch is by artist Dejan Pejovic and it has a small copper plaque at its base that is very hard to read. I believe some of it says, "This gateway protector which includes this sculpture and the welcoming sign at the eastern end to our community is the product of a generous spirit of support among neighbors who, in concert with local businesses, city and state governmental agencies and many private individuals have created symbols of pride which will enhance the Maplewood landscapes for all to enjoy." Rochester is an immensely creative city and this is the place to come to hear about unique and innovative projects and stories people share. This year, the conference took place at East High. It was fitting that the learning would take place in a school. It was inspiring to be back in a high school to learn after nearly 10 years since I stepped foot inside the school I graduated from. If anyone has an skepticism about Rochester's future growth, I recommend you sign up for TEDx next year. Your outlook will change and will inspire you to get involved anyway you can. The purpose of these TEDx talks is to shed light on aspects of our community that deserve some extra love or recognition. It's amazing to see people connect and discover the opportunities they now have after meeting just one person that can help take their project one step further. One thing that made this year awesome is that the event took place on a Saturday so you didn't have to take a vacation day! I hope they continue that trend for future years.

We had a great time at TedxRochester…read more The talks were all engaging. I genuinely felt that each of them were worthwhile and thought-provoking. The venders were all informative. The last-minute change of venue to East High School proved to be great. The space was perfect for us. We are looking forward to returning next year. My only critique was that we were frustrated with the timeline execution. We were happy to have time to network and mingle, but it could have been done much better. We arrived a little early but found that the "start" time was quite a while before the program start time. I'm forgetting now exactly how long - - but I think it was 90 minutes. And after that, we also had a very, very long lunch (2 hours maybe?). And after all the unexpected downtime, the program ran late. We ended up feeling very rude and ducking out during the last speaker because our ride had been waiting in the parking lot so long. But again, other than the timeline, it was a wonderful event. Thinking about contacting them to volunteer next year!

To Victor go the spoils. I don't know why anyone would send them here, but it's ok…read more I had some not-so-great experiences with the town of Victor. They managed to give me a ticket for not even doing anything on a number of occasions. And by a number I mean two actually... one of the times I was speeding, but not enough to warrant a ticket... or so I thought. However the Village Center is beautiful and quaint and typical Americana. So it averages out to a four but they need to stop taking my money. Thanks. Bye. Oh, my friend Alexis lives here. Except that he's abusive and creepy, although you know what? This is a classic old-style building that is part of the wonderful charm of Center City Rochester, so even if it's named after a Bill Cosby character we can still appreciate it. A little bit. I hope they never tear the old buildings like this down. While you're checking it out, head next door to Pizza Stop - the best slices in the region.
