Hotel with low prices. The rooms are ok, but could be renovated. Friendly staff. The breakfast is typical French style.

The hotel looked to be in good shape, and nicely decorated. The room itself was nice and comfortable. My favorite thing in the room was the reusable water bottle. I wish they would have put two bottles since the room had two occupants. Having the refillable water fountains are environmentally friendly and a nice touch. I thought about asking the staff for another water bottle, but I didn't. The water bottle was driven to Barcelona, flown to Copenhagen, and cruised through several Nordic, Baltic, and Scandinavian countries. The room was clean. The stay was comfortable.

Special shout out to Jean-Michel for remembering to mention all the things I forget to ask at check in. It's invaluable to have someone remind you of everything you need to know after 36 hours of travel time. The restaurant has typical European hours, more limited on the weekend. I heard absolutely no sounds while in my cozy room. Stellar experience! My only suggestion: I wish they had more water for purchase options and the room temperature was limited by presets.

I was checked in and upgraded to a spacious business room with a balcony. The room was clean and spacious. The bed had a small throw pillow which was removed and placed on the couch. Hand soap and body wash were available. I did not use them as I carry my own. Lotion was not available, and again, not an issue as I carry my own lotion. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but they do have a list of restaurants nearby. There's a bar onsite. There's plenty of parking for guests. To enter and exit the property, a keycard is needed. The hotel offers free breakfast which includes a variety of sweet and savory dishes. Fresh fruits, eggs, pastries, and fruit juices are available. The staff were inviting and kind. The morning of my departure, I was greeted and asked to stay for breakfast. I wish the hotel had a reusable water bottle to use. The breakfast was okay. The presentation of the food was really nice. I had a 4.5 hour drive to Barcelona, so I tried some fruit and eggs. Overall, it was a good stay. I had a personalized letter from the staff with my name, but it said, Mr. Dudine :).

It is for this reason that the Radisson Blu concept hotel is so remarkable. As soon as you pull up in front of the hotel you can feel it oozing quality. The reception service was crisp, friendly and multilingual. The room was immaculate and overlooking a beautiful multi-coloured courtyard. The gym, although sparse in terms of equipment, was very comfortable and the spa, steam room and sauna was awesome. The downsides are that the video services, minibar and food (room service) is quite expensively priced - however the quality of the food was good and there was a wide choice of foods on the menu.

I made the mistake of underestimating the size of the portions. I had a foie gras terrine entreé which turned out to be two of the largest slabs of decadent, fatty, deliciousness I've ever had. Then my main, a magret de canard, turned out to be comprised of two massive grilled duck breasts, one sliced and one whole. Both plates had such massive portions that I couldn't finish. My wife got the salad: five chunks of cooked duck plus the biggest jiggling square of grilled foie gras I've ever seen, with a few leafy greens beneath. The food was rich, decadent, and plentiful. The restaurant is brightly coloured, and flamboyantly modern, much more modern and less rustic than is typical in this part of France. Service was good. Prices decent, with each course in the EUR13-EUR15 range. Great for carnivores, the very hungry, and those who've had enough of rustic restaurant interiors.

But the "inner" values" do count more: rooms are simply way too small, they even do not have a small working desk. I like the way the rooms are laid out with their adorbale and super efficient bathrooms that have toilet, shower, sink and corridor with mirror all packed into a rectagular module. You get the sense that they wanted to create maximum bathing comfort while keeping the sleeping area as spacious as possible. Too bad though there's only a little curtain separating the two spaces as it can get a bit nippy in the shower area in the morning. My one major regret about this place is how noisy the side street can be in the evening because of all of the kids leaving the bar drunk at night. They should do a better job sound-proofing the windows. Every night I've stayed there I've been awoken at some ungodly hour by the sound of screaming, bottles breaking, or people singing drunk in the street. It never lasts long, but still, for the price point of this hotel they could do better to help their guests sleep a little more soundly.
