I want to take the time to thank the technician john. I have a boiler system that i have been having problems with for 3 months. I keep having another company out which is a big name here in town and there techs kept charging me saying it was fixed but same problem occurred less than 48hrs later. John came out found that my temp setting on coil was same as the boiler which will cause it to shut off after 2 min. Only caused problem under 39degrees outside. He adjusted it $95 (min fee) later it has been working great for weeks now! Very happy camper! Highly recommend! read more

They were the first company to call me back when my hot water heater failed (most companies never even returned my call), and they squeezed me into a busy work week and got me going again. Their plumbers are great, but the billing practices are terrible. After being quoted a rate of $110/hour, I was charged $195/hour because there was a "helper" on site. I contacted Janice to request an adjustment to the bill and she would not budge, telling me that she was being "fair" and that if there was no helper I would would have been charged even more. I would NEVER RECOMMEND AJAX MECHANICAL! I had a dispute for an unauthorized charge of $747.50 for the following reasons: 1. ILLEGAL AND UNETHICAL USE OF MY CREDIT CARD: Ajax Mechanical is not allowed legally to randomly charge my credit card without my permission which they did for $747.50. They tried to charge me $1000 for the installation of a toilet! 2. SENT AJAX A CHECK IN THE MAIL FOR TOTAL PAYMENT WHICH THEY DECLINED: I mailed Ajax a check that they refused to cash for the verbal agreed upon amount that their plumber had quoted me for $300.00. 3. QUOTED THE JOB AT ANOTHER PRICE: They quoted one amount when they bid the job, but then raised the price after the job was over saying it was a defective toilet. It went from a verbal quote of $300 to $1000.00. They ultimately charged my credit card $749.00. 4. MISREPRESENTATION OF FACTS: They lied and tried to say that there was something wrong with the toilet and it was defective out of the box brand new from the distributor Kohler, which was never represented or presented to me at any time until they wanted three times the money for installation. They had to turn a valve to the side, which, took Ajax hours to figure out. There was no problem as it turns out. They did not know how to install the toilet which they represented they did. 5. UNETHICAL PRICING: They first tried to charge me approximately $1000 for this toilet installation, which is absurdity. They quoted $300-$350 when the plumber came to my home to inspect the toilet and the installation instructions several times. 6. NO WRITTEN CONTRACT: They have no written contract with me. I trusted the word of their plumber since he had done another job for me. 7. INCOMPETENCE: The owner who is accusing me of the toilet being broken etc. was never onsite. This toilet was straight out of the box and brand new. 8. UNFINISHED JOB: After several hours and their becoming totally frustrated and unable to install it correctly, they informed me they were leaving me with an unfinished install because they had to go to another job. They said they would be back in the morning. They admitted they did not know how to do the total install on the toilet at the time they left me high and dry. This seemed totally absurd & unprofessional to me. They also told me they could not install the computer aspect of the job. I then had to hire another plumber and pay Ajax approximately $137 to finish the job by programming the computer control. When I asked questions (What if it doesn't work? How will they know it is installed correctly if they can't finish the job?) they didn't have answers. They seemed to insinuate it would be MY problem to figure out. I had to hire another plumber to come finish the job. (Bishop Plumbing Inv #177784 in the amount of $137.18 ) 9. NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY: The toilet is still not installed correctly. It is rocking and does not have a strong seal. 10. BOILER FLUID: The plumber put fluid in my boiler, which I gave him $100 for even though he was here installing the toilet, which is far more than I should have paid. But for the sake of the business relationship and getting through this I gave Ajax the money. I was trying to be peaceful, fair and just. 11. PROOF IN WRITING: I have proof in writing from another plumber who did the computer install on the job, stating the install for this toilet should have been no more than $275 in total with the computer aspect included. 12. NO AUTHORIZATION TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD: I NEVER responded to authorize use of my credit card for payment of the invoice, they simply charged the card number on file even though they had been paid by check. We called Ajax and we wrote to Ajax NOT to use my credit card. They refused to speak to me on the phone or discuss the matter like professionals. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. THEY LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND MAY REPRESENT THEY CAN DO A JOB WHEN THEY CANNOT. IF THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER, THEY MAY USE IT ILLEGALLY WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. read more

Highly recommend! Originally got a quote from Bishop Plumbing and Heating for some kitchen sink work at $900. Knowing the price of parts and time required this was too high so I called Ajax (who I didn't tell about the other bid). Ajax sent Brian who assessed the problem and fixed it right then and there (including parts) for $199. I was thrilled. Not only reasonable but great, competent work! Highly recommend Ajax! Very satisfied with the services. My furnace went down this winter during our last cold snap and the technician Mike managed to come over despite being exceptionally busy and get it running same day. Janice Sebald was extremely rude on the phone when I called to have a broken (frozen) line replaced. I agreed to pay $150 an hour (New Years weekend), starting from when her tech left his house and then I was called back and told that she couldn't get a tech to come out. When I mentioned that I just paid them nearly 2K, which included the pipe that broke as a result of the insulation not being replaced when her tech installed a new pipe through an exterior wall, she turned into a monster and told me to go elsewhere which I did. I was willing to pay to have the same pipe replaced and this woman treated me as if I were her worst enemy. Who does business this way? Please consider my treatment prior to hiring a plumber from this company. Their tech Brian was a nice guy but this woman needs a different job where she isn't allowed to deal with customers directly. read more
