The only designations for the items were to go to my home or Goodwill. Easy, right? All the furniture basically was designated to go to Goodwill. I was told by Tony Lowe that it wasn't good enough for Goodwill. There were cherry pieces, a hutch, end tables and a nightstand that were original Pennsylvania House furniture purchased in Terryville, Connecticut. This was like insulting my parents themselves. The furniture was nicked up in the previous move as we went with a more discount mover. However, it certainly was good enough for Goodwill or better. This person brought about seven college-aged guys with him which I thought was ludicrous for a small move. So instead of giving my instructions once I had to say the same things repeatedly. The guys were very nice, although their boss was pompous, condescending, insensitive, and was even laughing at me. From the start he was a rude jerk. I never remember a move being this bad. I was in a lot of pain, soon to be followed by much more pain because the movers left a lot of stuff behind that I had to manually move myself. The whole job felt rushed because they told us repeatedly that they were on their way to another job which sounded much more important, a mansion as one of the guys said. My sister who hired this mover must not have read the other negative reviews. I had a simple request for a special litter box to be brought over. I bagged up the clean litter and put it inside the litter box. Things are expensive now, and I don't have money to waste. Tony basically laughed in my face, and they threw away the litter box, I'm sure. My mother's special pink stool that I shouldn't have entrusted to them, never made it to my home. I believe some special Christmas ornaments, as well, never made it to my home. It would have gone much smoother with maybe two or three guys at the most. Too many cooks spoil the soup! Many items were left unlabeled, and my sister had indicated that boxed items would be labeled. I did as much preparation as I could in advance. My sister, being the POA, received and paid the bill. I asked to know the amount, but I never received an answer. It's probably outrageous. Then I needed to tip the guys so they didn't get that much because I had $105 on me which had to be divided 7 ways. This bill and tip were my dad's to cover, unfortunately.

On the day the new roof was installed we arrived home from work after dark to a dumpster filled with old roofing material and on the top of the pile was quite a few empty beer cans and beer boxes, I knew this was a bad sign so I took photos of this. 3 months later the entire roof leaked because they forgot to put the water and ice barrier down. They also did not install the ridge vent (we questioned this via email and the owners response was he couldn't because of the pitch of the roof which is rediculous, you can put a ridge vent on any roof!) Due to the lack of ventilation it caused black mold in the entire attic. They came to fix it by installing the water/ice barrier material that they forgot to put on in march of 2019 but still did not install a ridge vent which is needed to vent air into the attic. I repeatedly voiced my concerns to the owner about the mold and he emailed me that it wasn't mold, just algae and it would dry up. Its now 14 months later (and we now have become very educated on roof ventilation) after several emails back and fourth to the owner and a final phone call to him which he became extremely belligerent, told me it's not his fault and told me to F off and hung up on me. We now have hired a very expensive mold abatement company and also had to pay a new professional roofing contractor to install a ridge vent which was in my contract with JS&R Roofing. They're thorough and meticulous, and treat your house with respect and care. Their method is go from "top to bottom" and though they literally start upstairs, they really mean from, say, dusting the top of the blinds to the floor. They use green products (though they will use Clorox in the bathrooms, for example, if you request that) and the right products for the respective surfaces (e.g., wood floors, quartz counters, leather sets, etc.). It was wonderful to step into an immaculate house, where it looked and smelled clean, and Jackee has been so responsive from the beginning -- she even texted me after they were done and asked if I had anything to critique. Hint: there was nothing. (They even helped give my giant package to the UPS delivery person who came by during the time they were cleaning... talk about wow!)
