I am so tired of these places spreading myths about wildlife to scare homeowners just to make…read moremoney. I found this company while I was searching for a PDF file on opossums for educational purposes and couldn't believe the lies. I have worked with opossums for many years, and they are NOT aggressive, do NOT pose a threat to other animals (they get along great with cats) and most importantly do NOT CARRY DISEASES!!! They don't carry rabies (body temp too low), distemper, Lyme disease, etc. The only disease which is EXTREMELY RARE is EPM and that's for horses only). They are shy animal that stays to themselves and carries NO parasites, as a matter of fact, they exterminate them, especially ticks! They eat rodents, insects, berries, and worms (to name a few), and are excellent carcass cleaners. They don't live in burrows or hibernate, so if you see a hole in the yard it's not them. They also don't stay in an area long as they are fearful of predators. Opossums are VERY CLEAN as they preen like cats. What these animal nuisance businesses also don't tell you is that they often don't humanely relocate...they DROWN them in trap cages. So please, contact your local DNR or rehabber to properly rehome, or trap and relocate yourself.
