When I planned my trip home this year I decided I would finally try to get my license. The only thing is, I would only be home for a week and I had never driven a car in my life. I called Paul about a month in advance to schedule a lesson for every weekday that I would be on the island (5 total). For my first lesson, I expected to be driving around an empty parking lot, but Paul had me driving on the road right away. Took a few lessons with Paul and he was awesome. I learned how to parallel park in just 10 minutes! He told me I already knew how to drive and just told me I needed to brush up on things. The day of the road test, I was extremely nervous that when he took me on a practice round, I kept messing up and even considered cancelling my road test. It's not an easy task teaching someone to drive! Paul has the knowledge and skills to make it happen! My son needed someone to teach him the rules of the road and how to drive on all types of roadways. He also has strategies and techniques for both parallel parking and in stalls. My daughter passed her driving test today thanks to Paul. She had previously taken a driver's ed course from another driving driving school but she did not pass the driver's license test. Even with all of the practice driving hours that we did on our own and correcting the mistakes that were made on the testing, she still didn't pass the following driving test. This guy drives during lessons with the darn radio on. Plus he has his phone connected and whenever it rings, it's just loud. It's just rude when he's talking to his friends when he's supposed to be helping the driver. These both can be distracting for newer drivers. I'm military and new to Hawaii and have never driven or had a license before. I would recommend anyone who is new to driving to call Paul and make an appointment. I was able to pass my road test today after the five lessons that I had with him, a lesson per week. I was amazed during my second lesson that I was able to parallel park within ten minutes of his instructions. However I highly suggest practicing on the car that you will be using for the road test often so that you are use to how the car drives and you know which points on the car you can use to help you park. The amount of lessons you take is up to you because everyone learns differently and at their own pace. Paul is patient and he reminds you and tells you exactly what you need to be aware of because the examiner will definitely mark points down for situations such as if you do not make a complete stop or fail to use your turn signal to indicate which direction you are turning and if you fail to cancel your signal. He will continue to work with you on areas where he sees you need improvement. For example, I had a problem with making wide turns and so on the first and also the second lesson we practiced turning right and turning left until I felt confident and had more control. He also goes over the different possible routes that your examiner will instruct you to take. Do not be afraid to ask him questions, he prefers that you ask so that you know how to correct your mistakes. I am really grateful for his help and for encouraging me to continue to practice. I think the way that he instructed me helped me to push myself to doing better each lesson. Thank you Paul for working with me to reach my goal. read more

My daughter is 22. We thought she would never get her license. She's been renewing her permit since she was 16, and yes, she took drivers ed in high school. She has tried for her license once before on the Big Island and of course flunked. So I decided its time. I Checked the Yelp reviews and decided Paul was the one. So I told my husband I had found someone in Mililani and his name was Paul, so he looks it up and makes an appointment and I thought nothing of it. So the day comes for her appointment and my husband says we gotta meet him at Zippys in town and Im like huh?? I thought he was in Mililani but I was thinking oh well and went along with him. We get to Zippys and we are waiting inside when my husband mentions the guys name and it wasn't Paul!! I was MAD!! For the past week I had been telling my daughter of all the wonderful things she would learn. Anyway my daughter stayed in the Kewalo Parking lot for 2 hours just driving around. I made sure my husband called Paul and he came to my home to pick up my daughter and made her drive that first day.
