A wise man once said "what is meant to be will be." My fiancé and I began working with Akel in January of 2022. Little did we know how long and challenging this road would be. We chose the most crazy time to start our search - during the pandemic! We had already been looking at houses for a few months and day dreaming of owning our own one day, so we started our search for a realtor. This review is long overdue! I reached out to Akel on IG on a whim when I randomly seen a condo that I had to have. I messaged him at 8:19pm and he responded thoroughly at 8:23pm with a smiley face and next steps. There are a couple of things that stood out to me during our very first conversation. 1. He suggested I use a lender he's worked with and respected my decision to decline. No pressure at all as he understood my loyalty and desire to work with my lender. They actually worked really well together. 2. His level of involvement was everything. He never pressured or rushed me to do anything, yet he was proactive, thorough, and calm. I've been preparing for homeownership for awhile and have interacted with some realtors who were either extremely pushy or uninterested so his demeanor literally set the tone for the buying process. Akel listens, is very transparent, and a great advocate. He negotiated for things I didn't ask for, know to ask for, but was in my best interest. He never made me feel like a commission check. He encouraged me not to offer too much and was honest that if the buyer didn't accept our offer, it wouldn't be worth it and to look else where. The buyer had other offers, some more appealing than mine, but Akel worked his magic and got my offer accepted with the buyers willing to contribute substantially to the closing costs. Logistically, the buying process went relatively smooth. However it was still an emotional rollercoaster for me. I had lots of questions, some doubts, and maybe more than a few moments of panic where I reached out to him hella late at night, hella early in the morning, and on Thanksgiving. He responded promptly, professionally, and personably. Not an ounce of irritability or urgency his tone. He goes above and beyond. The day he handed me the keys, he offered to help me move. He actually insisted on helping me move and when he didn't hear from me a few days later, he followed up. In late September I contemplated selling my home but didn't know if it was the right time or whether it was something I wanted to follow through with. After doing some research and being referred to Akel, he quickly reached out to me. Our initial conversation went really well and I immediately felt that it would be in my best interest for him to meet me in person and do a walk through of my home. Side note: I had originally planned to meet 3-4 other realtors prior to making my decision of who to work with. However, after our initial meeting, I knew that he would be the perfect person to represent me. After I decided to work with Akel, my house was staged (by a great stager - thanks Veronica!) and ready to hit the market in a week and a half. No joke. My husband and I have known Akel since high school, so when we decided to become first time homebuyers, he was the first person we reached out to. We honestly had no expectations that he would actually become our realtor, seeing as though we hadn't spoken in years, but he responded immediately, with so much enthusiasm. We had been searching for a home to call our own for about five months before we ran into Akel at an open house.
