Akershus Fortress is a fantastic spot if you love history, photography, and scenic walks. I spent my time strolling the grounds, taking photos, and soaking in the views of the Oslofjord. Along the way, I picked up a few cool historical tidbits: the fortress was built in the late 13th century to protect Oslo and the harbor, and it later served as a royal residence, military base, and even a prison.
Walking among the medieval walls and old cannons, it's easy to imagine the strategic importance this fortress had over the centuries. The cobblestone paths, historic buildings, and the waterfront setting make it feel like stepping back in time. The views of the city and fjord are incredible, especially on a sunny day.
Even without going inside the museums, wandering the grounds gives you a real sense of Oslo's history and a chance to feel like a medieval explorer for a little while. A must-see for history buffs and casual visitors alike. read more
