This is the worst customer service experience, I have encountered in a very long time. I had three prescriptions from my doctors office from Cleveland Clinic, and the person over the phone at Akumin, could not take the prescription information as it was not matching what they have in their system. They told me they would text me a link to upload the prescription, the link never came to my phone as they were not operating from the US. They sounded like they were from India somewhere. I spent an hour on the phone with an agent who had loud noise all around her as if she was at a bar somewhere. Her treatment was very unprofessional. I had to repeat myself a number of times . It was so frustrating at the end, I told her to forget about it. The worst experience ever with their customer service. If you want to waste your time , just call Akumin customer service. I went the first day and I waited 1 hour and a half. my practitioner was spaced out and she messed up my test and they called me later saying I needed to re-do the test because they messed up. I came for a chest x-ray to the one in plantation. I had surgery on my wrist and I am in a cast and can't write with my hand the gentleman GREG still told me to fill it out he did not offer to help me in anyway. My appt was at 7:45.pm after a hour and a half I was still waiting,again GREG was no help instead he was RUDE AND told me if i can't wait reschedule. I don't even want to leave 1 star. I have been rescheduled twice for 2 MRIs that I need taken asap. Todays adventure was terrible. The staff had me change clothes and go to the MRI room. There they proceeded to tell me that I needed a special card for a device I have in my head. I was never given that info after surgery. Let me stress-I have had annual MRIs not only of the brain but also of other parts of my body since 2012 at this location. Guess what? They were going to put me in a closed MRI machine, which I cannot tolerate. when you are severely claustrophobic you always specify an open MRI machine. With all of this chaos it is now 3 times being rescheduled since a severe fall in April. Thanks Akumen. You made my day. read more

This review is solely based on my telephone experience scheduling an appoint. Akumin's scheduling process needs attention given that it is the first contact a patient experiences. I called yesterday to schedule an MRI, the rep was was polite and professional after I provided ALL of the required information and had an appointment day and time she said "allow me a moment to process this" a few minutes later someone else picks up the phone and has none of my information and I had to start all over again. This is inefficient, poor service and a source of frustration. I went for an MRI of my wife's knee. While the waiting area is spartan, it is a very professional atmosphere with reasonable communication and friendly, efficient technicians that made for a good experience despite personal pain. I'm not sure about other locations, but definitely don't go to the Weston location. This place looks horrible, specially being located in a rich zip code. The office looks bad, everything broken, leaking in many parts of the ceilings, really not well maintained. I already notice in my arrival and it got worst when I was called inside. (check pictures) I was waiting to see any sign saying that they were or will remodeled the entire office, but nothing. The radiology machines are old and noisy, I did MRI's in other places and it was so much more modern and almost no noise. The front desk lady was chatting with a friend in her cellphone since my arrival and all the time that I was there, each time she needed to handle anything or I had a question she will say to her friend: one second (in Spanish, maybe she thought that I was not understanding as I don't look latin, but I do speak Spanish), and then she got back to her very interesting conversation, no respect for the people in the waiting area. The technician that did the MRI was not very friendly as well, when I was done he left without saying anything, and I though I was supposed to follow him to exit, and no he just walk away to his room. I needed an MRI of the brain. Their Wesley Chapel FL office stated that my portion of the cost would be $600, meaning they charge $6000 (yes, six THOUSAND) as my portion is 10% of their fee. Park Place MRI charged me $26.00, meaning their full fee is $260.00. Akumin should be prosecuted for gouging. They SUCK. read more

I chose Akumin in Weston because it was close to my home. AvMed listed the company as Elite Imaging but the phone was answered as Akumin. When I asked the agent about the relationship between Akumin and Elite, he did not know. I explained that I needed to know because AvMed might refuse to pay for the tests. He made no attempt to find the answer to the question. I asked him to describe how the test would work. He told me that I would be standing for the ultrasound of my neck. However, when I arrived, I was told that I needed to lie down. Don't believe a word the agents say! When I arrived for the appointment at 7.30am, the desk agent was permanently talking on the phone. When I asked if she was talking to me, she told me that she was talking with a doctor's office. Which doctor's office is open at 7.30am? She took my ID and returned it. She was so busy talking with the "doctor's office" that she didn't even bother to tell me to have a seat and that I would soon be called. I stood at the counter while she continued her converstaion with the "doctor's office". After a few minutes, I asked: "Could you tell me what the next step might be?" My doctor ordered an MRI on my right knee to determine if I needed a knee replacement. My MRI was scheduled for June 15, 2023. I was told that the MRI analysis machine was not working at the time, but the analysis results should be available for my doctor's appointment. On June 22, 2023, I took my MRI CD to my doctor and was told not only that the CD could not be opened but also the analysis results had not been received. I immediately left the doctor's office and went to the Akumin Richardson office. I was met with two very argumentative office staff who told me that "It wasn't their fault the analysis results machine was not working, and I needed to call the person responsible." In fact, one of them even suggested that I had tried to open the CD on my own computer at home. Fortunately, I did reach a responsible person. I finally received a working CD and the analysis results were sent to my doctor four hours later. It is infuriating that a business, having the sole purpose of providing critical medical information in a timely manner, can be so callous and defensive of its incompetence. read more

The facility is nice. The procedure was very good. But there is room for improvement in the communication Department. After the MRI procedure the technician told me the results would be ready within 48 hours. She did not tell me to stop by the front desk and pick up a disc. No one told me that they would be sending the results to my doctor and then I should contact the doctor. I thought because they took my phone number and email address and that the results would be ready in 48 hours that they were going to be sending me the results. After 10 days I called them to find out what the story was and they provided the necessary information for me to know how their process worked. They told me to come by and pick up the disc. When I got there it wasn't ready so I waited 15 minutes for them to make the disc. read more

If I could give TEN stars I would , I had a MRI there,in Amarillo, the MRI machine and office was so pretty, and the little sweet technician, was the sweetest thing, she covered and lifted mylegs because I have other injuries, and made sure that i was comfortable, and , I just thought , as I was leaving , this is the best place, I've ever had an MRI and I have been to a lot of places, This was by far, The best experience I've had over the past ten years, They were all so sweet, the minute I walked in, and they had a funny Happyme channel, on , and it made me laugh and took my mind off everything else. Akumin was far better than I expected! The staff here in particular Iris (Front Desk) and Tenesia (MRI Technologist) put my nerves at ease. I'm an extremely claustrophobic person and didn't think I was gonna be able to get both MRIs done. Iris in the front desk told me not to worry, to bring in a sleeping mask and they were gonna provide me ear plugs. She said worst case scenario they take me out of the machine and I can schedule at another location. She also didn't overwhelm me with insurance or copays, but assured me everything would be in order the day of my exam including my authorizations. I was allowed to take the paperwork home prior to my appt that way I didn't have anything to fill out on the day of my MRIs. On the day of I had my doctor prescribe me Diazepam (Valium) to calm my nerves, applied Vick's Vaporub on my chest (eucalyptus helps calm your nerves) and headed in with my sleeping mask. Tenesia was more than understanding about my claustrophobia and explained everything to me in a way I felt at ease. She would check up on me using a mic throughout the procedure and let me know how long each sequence was gonna be. Definitely recommend Akumin and their amazing staff! Hope I don't have to get an MRI any time soon but if I do, I'm definitely coming back here. read more

I don't even want to give them one star. I was supposed to be in and out in an hour. The entire appointment for a simple MRI was over 3 hours which wrecked my word day. They also failed to inform me that I would owe $1500. I understand that that goes toward my deductible but they didn't tell me this before I arrived so I was unprepared. I called them a few weeks ago and they said they currently don't have a mammogram person at that facility (silverlakes) I called again this week and now they say they have no appointments for mammograms for the rest of the year, they are booked solid. I went there twice so far since I moved to FLorida. What a terrible system they habe! I called 4 times trying to set up an appointment; I left my name and number twice and they never returned my call. Then I went on line to set up an appointment like the message says. I got a return call 2 weeks later. In the meantime, I scheduled another exam somewhere else and so far this place far exceeds akumin. Also had to wait outside under an awning separated with a mask on with many other people last year because of Covid. It was like a factory!! Hope I never have to go back there! read more

Horrible experience and never received service!! I scheduled my son for a CT scan ordered by urgent care. Akumin made the appointment for me, took my son's info and insurance info. I had the Rx from the urgent care center. Day of appointment, my husband took my son to Akumin. They said they couldn't take him, because there was no authorization. No one informed us we needed auth prior to arrival. Next, they asked for visit notes. Again, they never asked for them prior to arrival. Had they said anything on either account, we would have brought records and known we needed auth. They rescheduled my son for two days later. We had records faxed to Akumin so they could obtain auth. We didn't get any calls before the second appointment. My husband called Akumin before driving out to them to see if they did get authorization for the CT, and they did. That's when they told him my son needed to do a special preparation for the visit!!! Again, this was the first time he was informed of this. After all this trouble, and having been in their facility the first appt attempt, they still couldn't take care of my son!! I would strongly recommend finding another diagnostic facility to take care of your needs. This has been the worst experience my family has had. This is all these people do, day in and day out, and they can't seem to relay proper and necessary information to patients coming to them for testing. My son said that the same thing happened to people arriving after him the first day he was there. This is not an isolated event. Couldn't put ZERO STARS. read more

I had an appointment for today 01-18-2024 for 7:00AM to do an MRI for my entire back. My doctor submitted to me three seperate order requisitions via email over three weeks ago which I faxed right away to Akumin to move forward and schedule my appointment. They waited until yesterday the day before my appointment to call me and tell me they needed PCP Authorization. The young lady that called to give me this last minute information was very rude and had a TOO! BAD! attitude and said I would have to reschedule. She blamed it on my PCP but I had never had an issue like this before. Contacted my PCP and was told Akumin would normally do the insurance authorization part and could not understand why they called me last minute. Also telling me that they never received any authorization request from Akumin. Honestly spent an hour and a half trying to resolve this to no avail. Everytime I called Akumin the customer service was very dissapointing. Fustrated and tired of doing someone's job that should have been trying to be helpful in expediting my appointment situation, I just gave up and went ahead rescheduling for a future date but not going to Akumin anymore. If I could give this clinic a zero, I would. I showed up for an appointment yesterday that I had made 2 weeks ago. The greeting at the front desk was "you're late". I apologized for being 5 minutes late but I was told I was 35 minutes late. The email that I had received from their scheduling department was for 2:30 but according to what they had in the system, I was supposed to be there at 2. Before I could show the girl at the front desk my email with my appointment time, she got up and walked away and got on her cell phone. She came back a couple minutes later and said she was sorry that they would have to reschedule me. I was scheduled at 2:30 at the Weston location to get contrast for my CT arthrogram scan that would be 30 minutes later at another location 5 miles away. She told me the tech left at 4 and wouldn't be able to stay an extra 30 minutes to do my scan. I kindly explained that I had not only taken half a day from work and lost pay, driven an hour and 30 minutes from Homestead, and was on a regimen of medication that was prescribed to me in order to facilitate the scan since I have an allergy to iodine (which the meds were giving me horrible side effects as it was) which made the situation that much worse for me. I was given the wrong appointment time by their scheduling department and they didn't want to fix the problem? That doesn't seem right to me. The stress of knowing for 2 weeks that I was going to be injected with something that could potentially put me into anaphylactic shock, the terrible side effects of the meds I was experiencing, the hour and thirty minute drive there, the loss of wages from taking time from work, the loss of wages from my wife taking time from work to be with me in case I had any allergic reaction, was not enough to remedy the situation. The solution, "sorry, you'll have to reschedule". I walked out extremely upset and received a phone call 2 minutes later from the diagnostic center where the scan was supposed to be done. I explained the situation and the girl told me " hang on, give me a couple minutes and let me see if there is anything I can do". I waited in my car for an hour for a phone call resolving the issue and never received one. Then I drove back in almost 2 hours of traffic with no scan and no resolution. What low quality service. There was no resolution for my issue or anything even offered or anyone to even talk to. Akumin should be ashamed at how they treated this situation and treated me as a patient who is paying for a service. I know they don't care and nothing will be done, but I wanted to share my experience with the community. I will be posting this everywhere including all social media outlets, and I will post this review on all platforms and file a complaint with the BBB, as well as write a formal complaint to my health insurance company. The fabric of our society has been compromised by poorly run businesses and people who simply don't care. It is sad to see how Akumin handled this situation and I hope they don't treat other people the way I was treated. When a company can't take ownership for something they messed up on and they make the patient suffer and waste their time and hard earned money shows that they do not have their priorities in order. I have gone to this facility twice now, not that I like these procedures. However, on both ocassion the staff was great! I suffer from claustrophobia, to which my doctor addressed this issue for me. I am disabled and was concerned about help getting on and off the machine, but I had no concerns as they at Akumin, in Sarasota, were very accommodating. I have another MRI to which I requested this facility to my doctor, and to my delight will go to this facility again. Thank you to all the staff. I went to the Clark Rd., Sarasota FL location. Received a referral to this place through Tricare more than 3 weeks ago. I am an active duty service member who had an ACL reconstruction surgery, was referred here specifically because my surgeon has access to the systems Akumin uses. Due to COVID 19 this was an ideal choice so that we could conduct our follow up via tele-health. I did not even make it through the door. When I called to make my appointment the lady at the call center or whoever books appointments was extremely rude and came off as awkwardly aggressive. Needless to say I decided to not use their services. Would not recommend and will notify Tricare of this unfortunate encounter. read more

This facility is highly unprofessional and irresponsible. I was referred to them by my rheumatologist so that's why I booked with them. When I first called for an appointment, even though they have multiple locations they didn't have anything available for weeks out. I ended up booking an appointment at a facility relatively far from me (even though there were other locations closer) but it was their first available so I took it. The day before my appointment they called and left message telling me that they needed to cancel my appointment. I called back to ask why, which by the way, it's the main call center operators you speak to not the actual facility, and she wasn't sure why they were canceling but mentioned that it's probably because they don't have a technician. I informed her that I had already waited for weeks for this appointment and my follow up with the dr was the following week. I asked to please be rescheduled quickly. The operator informed me that there was nothing available anywhere for weeks. I went ahead and asked her to just give me the next available and that I would push back my follow up appointment with the dr. No problem. She ended up finding me an appointment 2 weeks later at a facility much closer to me so at least that was good. I pushed back my follow up appointment as well but still not too happy that this whole process was now going to be delayed for my diagnosis. Now, the morning of this 2nd appointment (20 mins before), I receive a call and message again from Akumin stating that they need to cancel my appointment. Whaaaaatttt! I couldn't believe it. I called back right away and of course, you get to speak to the main call center, so they don't know what's going on. I informed the operator what had just transpired and she asked me what was the reason for the cancelation? I said I don't know. The young lady didn't mention a reason. She says, oh, it's probably because the machines are down or there is no technician. How do you run a business like this? I was so annoyed. I told her how unprofessional and irresponsible this company was in handling patient care. She asked me if I wanted to reschedule and I told her absolutely not. What's to say that the following appointment also gets canceled. They just did not give me any confidence to rebook with them. I cannot continue to delay my medical diagnosis and treatment because of their incompetence. I will be informing my dr's office as well of these issues with Akumin and recommend that they no longer recommend patients to this company. read more
