After a couple of nights having a delicious Granita I finally tried the ice cream. I can't tell how…read morethey compete against the other places in Sferracavallo and I won't find out. It just cannot get any better.

Oh. My. Dear. God. Not sure if I'm doing you a favor of telling you about this if you don't live in…read moreSicily, because you will be dreaming of it and suffering the torture of your inability to find anything to suffice for even a remote substitute. So, granita is best in eastern Sicily, but Palermitanos told me that this place is the closest to that style. (And I can confirm that no other granita I've tried in Palermo or rest of Italy have come even close). You could eat gelato here, but you can find great gelato throughout Palermo. The granita here is unreal and you won't find anything close, it's an art here, so I recommend that... I had the Mandorla (almond) and pistachio with whipped cream and brioche (I recommend always getting any form of ice cream with brioche when in Sicily!) and it is life changing. It is this HEAVENLY consistency in between ice and cream and it is simply something you must experience. There is a nice, cozy area to sit and enjoy it next door, so don't be turned off by lack of space in the shop itself. Not so easy to get here though...I once tried to bus from mondello, and none of the bus lines were working so I started the hour long walk...a car pulled over to ask me for directions and I helped him, he then came and found me 15 minutes later and drove me the rest of the way, ha, worth it and a half!
