L'Alchimista - We had a lovely dinner last night. Menu in English, great food and nice atmosphere. Easy walk from the Quid hotel.

I had the mushroom and prosciutto pizza. It was very good and better than what I had in Venice. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was modern and clean. Additionally, I walked there from my hotel (which is located in a business/industrial park only a quarter mile away). It was dusk when I walked there; but fully dark when I was done eating. The street lights along the path back to the hotel don't work, and the area is desolate at night. A creepy guy in a van followed me and started catcalling me; so I ran back to the restaurant and tried to get an Uber since I was by myself. There were no Uber's in the area so I asked the owners of the restaurant to call me a cab. The male owner did not speak English, but his wife did. They insisted on driving me back to my hotel! They felt sorry for me and were so nice. I am very grateful for their hospitality....they went way beyond the call of duty!

These folks have huge calzones and the restaurant is really nice, and it's close to the Quid Best Western Hotel.

It was a little off the beaten track, next to a small canal and a bridge. They had a seafood bolognese set menu with deep fried seafood and veggies for my secondi and a salad for 19€. Seemed a little in the cheap side to be good, the food came so fast that again I didn't think it would be good, but it was great. My kids had the gnocchi in truffle sauce and the carbonara and both were divine! Like I think about them and wish I could go back. My seafood was fresh and tender, the pasta was perfectly cooked and it all just had flavor! The best meal I've had in my trip so far. If you're in Venice, do yourself a favor and try out this very affordable very flavorful restaurant with the nice ambience and super helpful English speaking waiters. They'll make you feel like a million bucks

For the main course we had a pizza veneta (with salsiccia) and penne arrabiata. Then there was also a delicious sorbet, donated by the house! The food tasted delicious, also the wine, and the friendly staff contributed to a pleasant evening.

Colors - Stupid shelf sticking halfway into the bed. Can not be removed. Have fun bumping your head into that during sleep.

We stayed at Colors for one night before our flight back home. This place is on the outskirt of…read moreVenice and is relatively close to the airport. You can have the frontdesk call a taxi for you. The night of our stay, we ate at the restaurant. The food here isn't exactly Italian. As a matter of fact, it's actually more American. Since it was the last night in Italy, I decided to go all out and splurged on a filet mignon. I was very satisfied with how my steak came out. It was perfectly medium rare as I ordered it. I'm always annoyed by how restaurants mess up on the rarity of the steak. Luckily, Colors did a good job at keeping my annoyance at bay. It was 20 euros well spent :) We got a room for 4. It was quite spacious with a sink. The common bathroom is at the end of the hallway shared by everyone on the floor. There is only one bathroom per floor, so accessibility is quite limited especially in the morning when everyone is trying to take a shower. The main complaint I have is the bed. Whoever thought to build a shelf that sticks halfway into the bed should be fired. The shelf can't be removed and you can easily bump into it during sleep. Not bad if you don't have an alarm clock. The service here is extremely friendly. They accommodated our fourth friend who wasn't originally booked without a fuss. On the morning when we were about to leave, the frontdesk staff gave us free pastries despite the fact we didn't purchase complimentary breakfast. She even asked if we wanted coffee. The service here alone would make me want to come back. In the end, I would still recommend Colors for those in Venice. Just be sure to wear a helmet when you sleep because you will definitely hit that stupid shelf!
