Osteria Broccaindosso - Tagliatelle Al ragu (2nd of the 3 pasta sampler) and the best I've had yet. The ragu was meaty and really flavorful.

We split the platter of meats, lasagna, tortellini, tagliatelle and ragu, and grilled veggies. The lasagna was soft, pillowy, and decadent without being heavy, the tagliatelle was al dente and flavorful, and the tortellini stuffed with creamy ricotta. For dessert we split a generous portion of tiramisu, which was creamy and rich. We had a couple bottles of Chianti. The ambiance is relaxing with a neighborhood vibes. This is a wonderful osteria, everything was chef's kiss.

They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.

We booked ahead, but actually besides us there was only one other table that night (a weekday). It's a comfy, cosy place with a nice courtyard. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. We ordered the fried seafood and the octopus meatballs for starters. A bottle of Pigato (white) with the meal. The fried seafood was really nice. Tasted fresh and crispy. A good mix of different fish and seafood. The octopus meatballs were very disappointing. Didn't taste fresh unfortunately and had a strong flavour. Not sure it wasn't very fresh or just frozen. We love seafood, but this wasn't it. For the mains we chose the Pesto Gnocchi and Shrimp Risotto. The Gnocchi were pretty good, the Pesto was ok. The shrimp in the Risotto were really nice, but the rice for our likings a bit overcooked - we do enjoy a bit more bite. The wine was nice though. Pigato is always a good choice. The food was a bit on the disappointing side then. We had higher expectations, and this town has so many choices of restaurants. Not sure it was a slow day or we were just a bit unlucky that day. The reviews are very good - but not our experience. That said, I have to point out that our waiter was fantastic. A really nice guy, took care of us very nicely. That was really great. And the prices are fair too.

The dining area is decorated with candles, flowers and nice old fashioned mirrors, which makes the place very quaint and welcoming. It is located on the main boulevard that runs along the water, but you have to walk down a small alley to get to the entrance of the restaurant. Definitely a place to stop by for dinner if you are in Santa Margherita.
