Had lunch at Al Santo today...here are my thoughts: Ambiance: this restaurant is very rustic and eclectic, but not really to my taste. I prefer a more uniform look, which to me always seems cleaner! The open windows gave the place a nice feel but the menus could use a very good clean (they are filthy). Service: food takes a while but servers are all nice enough. Food: -- Greek salad was good but needed salt. -- Seabass special was excellent! Loved the capers and olives. -- Chicken salad was just okay per my husband. I didn't try this. -- Spaghetti with tomato sauce was excellent - my daughter nearly finished an adult sized portion (I'll admit I had more than a few bites....) -- Calamari seemed fresh but I didn't try it. Overall Al Santo was a nice, affordable place in an area we are not familiar with. Not sure we'll return but I recommend visiting if you are in the area. read more

Al Santo is a classic example of a fusion restaurant done well. The gnocci was soft, pillowy and delicious. The carbonara stayed true to tradition, only using only eggs, parmesan and black pepper. Lastly the seafood pasta was light, refreshing and perfectly spicy. Not only was the food spectacular, the service and decor gave Al Santo a unique identity that left a lasting impression. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Al Santo. The restaurant has been touched up a bit - maybe they're catching on how brilliant of a place it is! Still an easy 5 stars! Atmosphere is 5/5. Super cute and down to earth. Dining at Al Santo really really makes you feel like you're in Italy or Greece, not London. The staff are friendly too. This is a great romantic place for a date. Food 5/5 (Tiramisu was 6/5. Honestly the best I've ever eaten.). Al Santo nails the slow cooked dark meats. Boat, lamb, meat are all superb. And blended perfectly with the pasta. Only downside is that potatoes weren't brought with the lamb (even though they were specified on the menu). Good news is that we didn't need the potatoes - it was great without it. Also, Al Santo didn't seem to receive my Yelp reservation so make sure you call ahead just in case! read more

We stayed in the flat next to Al Santo during a recent trip to London and could not have been more pleased. As a family, we try to keep gluten-free and were amazed Al Santo had fresh pasta for our kids! The food was so good, we actually ended up eating here for three straight nights! They put their menu on old jazz record albums! The staff was incredible. Gabrielle, Simone, Franchesca, Frederico and Roberta made us feel like family (the good kind!) and even gave my son a tour of the kitchen. Thank you to the Al Santo family! I've walked past this place since they were putting it together, replacing a somewhat neglected and unloved posh shoe store. And I'm pleased to say I've always seen it consistently busy. Finally got around to having brunch there. With a rustic feel to it and a cramped, 'thrown together', shabby chic interior it tries to transport you to a little street cafe in the Mediterranean. And it does to a certain extent with board games tucked away on the shelves and kitsch and gaudy posters, even a cut out of Quentin Tarratino from Reservoir Dogs for some reason... Service was friendly enough considering they just had one person really working the room, although my friend who arrived before me was apparently shooed away from one of the two larger tables that seat around six, which is assumed are communal eating tables. We plumped for the breakfast menu as it was brunch time. Menu options are Mediterranean in tone (there's a strong sway to Corfu - which suggests the owners are possible Greek) and limited. So don't expect a full English fry up. My friend went for Kyr Anna (a traditional meal of egg, tomatoes, feta cheese and green peppers) which was not bad at all. My cheese and mushroom omelette was free range and tasty, but rather small. A bill of £19 for the two dishes and a couple of coffees. Neither outrageously expensive, but not what you'd call cheap either. Not sure whether a return visit is forthcoming. But can't put my finger on why as all the elements are there for it to be a local haunt... read more

This place is amazing! Modest little spot that you probably wouldn't think much of walking by, and when you walk in, you get this lopsided grin at the highly eclectic interior (pop culture mixed with authentic Italian/Greek and a big ass buddha on one wall). :P The staff are incredibly friendly and do their best to make it an enjoyable experience, without too much fuss. They make it a place to have some fun and relax and feel almost like you're among friends throwing a dinner party. Try the Contessa cocktail (I enjoyed it...). ;) The pasta is stunning. Cooked perfectly al dente. We had the ravioli and the sausage ragout special - both were exceptional. What really did it though was the dessert. They serve a warm cheesecake which is exceptional. And the tiramisu is absolutely the best I have ever had. Just amazing. Great place. Great atmosphere. Great food. Will definitely go back there for another feed. read more

I'm going to give it 5 starts because they made the best tagliolini al tartufo I've ever had. And I am Italian, and I make homemade pasta... The pasta was homemade, perfectly moist and the white truffle generously flaked on top, it was unbelievable. We also had their antipasto with cured meats and cheese and other kinds of pasta. Best tiramisu in London and they know it. Had dinner with as a party of 4, and both the food and the service was excellent. I asked for my dishes to be modified - to add chicken to the mushroom risotto, they obliged. I regret that decision, the mushroom risotto is best when it is just mushroom risotto. This new kid on the block near Fulham Broadway is doing all the right things. Set up like a rustic cafe/deli/butcher/specialty market, it has a really welcome, warm vibe. Most (if not all) of the staff are Italian, and were incredibly friendly. You can eat in and chose from a range of salads, paninis or main courses, or just a cup of coffee and cake, or you can buy food to take away, including freshly sliced specialty hams, salamis and cheeses. The food I've eaten here is absolutely delicious: fresh, high quality ingredients, simply prepared, and reasonably priced. The place was full of Italian customers when I was there, which I always take as a good sign. I'll definitely be back. read more

I had dinner here with a girlfriend on the 14th June 2012 on the recommendation of a work colleague who loved it. It is such a great little restaurant. We walked right in at 7pm on a Thursday and were the only people there however it didn't feel weird like some restaurants when there is no one else around. By 7.45 most of the other tables were taken. We were given tap water and some beautiful tomato bread (complimentary) as soon as we sat down. We ordered artichoke and some humous to share as a starter which came with some pita style bread - this was the nicest bread & dips I have ever had and wish I had asked for double! It was so lovely. My friend ordered spaghetti carbonara and i had lasagna - both were nice. Unfortunately we were so impressed with the bread and dips that we were not interested in our main dishes and wanted more bread and dips. The wine list looked really nice (although slightly on the pricey side for a glass - from memory as we didnt order any wine). Our total bill came to £31.70 and we added a nice tip as the staff were really friendly and attentive and our food was served in perfect timing - allowing a long enough break between starter and main for it to settle but not too long that we were left wondering where our food was. I will absolutely be visiting again - in fact I think it would be perfect not just for lunch or dinner but meeting a friend for a drink with some nibbles - the charcuterie boards looked incredible! Highly recommended for a casual meal - a smallish group would really suit here! read more

Could not recommend this place more. The staff are absolutely lovely as soon as you walk in, may be best to book as it is always packed and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is great, big ups to whoever designed it as the fairy lights, bike on the wall and records with the menus inside are super unique and I loved it. The food couldn't be any better. You can tell love and true Italian has been put into it. Highlight is the Gnocchi and the Lemon Cheesecake. Is reasonably priced and always get a handshake of appreciation on your way out from the beautiful staff. If we weren't holidaying and lived here, it would be my every Friday spot. Half empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and this was my first restaurant experience in London. Thank you for making a hungry traveller wait forever and leave with an empty stomach. I work around the corner and went for lunch today. Order a straight forward sandwich to take away and hung around for 10 mins till I got it. On the way out I took a bite to see they had given a plain ham sandwich. Went to back to get the correct one, but minimal apology and had to wait another 10 mins. Didn't bother offering anything while I stood around (e.g. a coffee or a discount) which you will get from a good customer service place like the Del Aziz across the road. And while I was waiting another customer had to come back and get a new sandwich as they had mixed up the orders so this ain't a place for great service, despite the appearance. read more
