The best thing about this place was the lovely indoor/outdoor-ness to this place. You walk down a corridor to the dining room but then right before you enter there's no ceiling. We sat right next the door, which was nice because we're still masking to be COVID cautious, and it felt nice to be able to sit here safe and unmasked. We had the beef lasagna, canneloni, and mushroom pizza. I don't remember much about them but everything was good. We also liked the bread. read more

We had a great time here. I came with my Italian friends and they mentioned that it feels quite like you're in Italy. Such a verification! We celebrated my friend's birthday and the service was amazing the whole time throughout the meal. Nice little Italian restaurant right near Portobello Marker. It has the most idyllic setting. The outside seating area looks magical with its colored garden lights and plants- very intimate. It is the kind of place where you can dress up a bit and have special date or be casual and not feel out of place. Terrific Italian food in a wonderful little spot. Children had margherita pizza (the crust was very flavorful as was the sauce); the adults had a very tasty spicy salami and mozzarella sandwich, and very good pasta. Given its location in Portobello Rd, the ambience was very nice - quiet, sunny but dry, open area for a handful of tables. Just to get this out of the way; Notting Hill is done. Portobello Road Market is not the amazing market that it once was and has become a tourist trap, in large part due to the film. Tourists have overtaken the place and while once there were amazing antique dealers and what not, now there are throngs of tacky tourist shops selling magnets and union jack flags. That said, I was in a conundrum as to where to eat and came here based on Yelp! reviews. I'm glad I did. At first glance it's hard to tell that there is an actual restaurant here. It almost looks like a warehouse from the outside, but once you walk through the front area, you suddenly find yourself in a Greenhouse-esque restaurant with hanging dried herbs and flowers and an eating area that can only be described as charmingly rustic. Also, the Italian boys who run this place (at least on the day I was there) seemed a little frazzled and absent-minded (maybe they were short a person?) but managed to take everyone's orders and get them right. I had a Caprese Salad to start with and followed that up with Tagliatelle with sausage and mushrooms and of course Tiramisu. all of it was fantastic and as authentic as you could get short of hopping over to Italy. I think a lot of Italian ex-pats living in London come here because I saw lots of people who seemed to be regulars and everyone was speaking in Italian. Prices are beyond reasonable and the servers here are really sweet. As soon as I paid up and left, I had inadvertently forgotten my silk scarf on my seat and one of the boys came running after me across the street to return it which was really nice of him. Given that I will probably never live in Notting Hill (houses START at the 12 million pound sterling mark) but should I one day marry a Russian oligarch and we end up here, I'd probably be eating here all the time. read more

I still haven't had a meal at this lovely cafe/restaurant but finally popped in for a quick cappuccino the other day. They don't compete for the early morning trade and were only just opening up when I arrived. I almost felt guilty but all staff were super friendly and the coffee one of the best I've had in ages - you can always tell the difference when an Italian operates the machine ... The place is packed out at weekends and I tend to just pop out for a sandwich during the week, but I am sure to find an excuse to return soon and spend a little longer - love the decor and overall feel, all very bright and happy. read more

So cute! Stumbled into this colorful cafe during our day at the portobello rd market. Such a nice break from the crowded market. We got a few drinks and the porchetta platter and some olives as a snack. Really delicious. I loved the chill vibe and friendly staff. Unbelievable. It's quite literally a hidden gem as it's not fully visible from the street. You have to walk through a vintage store to get to it, which somehow makes it more charming. The restaurant itself is in a little greenhouse-type place with lots of natural light and natural decorations. The food here is authentically Italian. We could see the chef making our meals from where we were sitting, which was cool to see, and during our meal he came over to ask if we liked our food. We got paninis which were bursting with flavor, and a really great smoked salmon appetizer. My only regret is that we didn't go more than once during our visit. read more

This was an outstanding find with a lovely garden ambiance. Everything seems to be freshly made to perfection. Was traveling solo in London and came here on a recommendation from someone who had eaten here a few years ago. I'm so happy I did! I walked in on my own at an off-peak time, around 3 pm on a Thursday. It's so lovely inside! Sort of like a greenhouse, with lots of light and plants hanging around. Part of the kitchen is open to the dining room as well. There were a few tables seated. I was looking for a light meal, and ordered pomodoro e basilico bruschettona, and the zuppa del giorno. They also brought be a small piece of some sort of veggie pie to start - sort of like a zucchini quiche? I ended up cancelling the soup, as the bruschettona was huge and so filling! The tomatoes were super fresh and wonderfully seasoned, and the bread was rustic and delicious. I wish I could have tried the soup - I'd like to go back here when I hopefully return to London. I was asked after if I'd like to order dessert and I said I would love to but was too full, but he brought me a small sample of I think a biscotti. It was a bit burnt, but the parts that weren't were pretty good - I'm not a big fan of biscotti, but it was a nice gesture. Highly recommend this place based on my limited experience! read more

If you're ever in notting hill this is the place to eat. Two beautiful Italian ladies run this place and the make some of the most delicious Italian dishes right in front of you. We stopped by Portobello Garden Cafe back in May, and Ive been meaning to write a review. We were only in London for a couple of days. I ordered Lasagna and it was the best I have ever had, and perfect portion size. I am not normally a fan of Tiramisu but the manager recommended it, and it was one of the best desserts I have ever had. The manager was very nice, and gave my wife and I free Limoncello shots. Its a nice atmosphere and very casual, the staff are all quite friendly, and very Italian! We live in California now, but I always send friends visiting London here. read more

This was our best meal while visiting London and we nearly missed it as it sits well off the street in an unassuming building. Dried meats and wheels of cheese sit on shelves and hanging overhead as they do in Spain or Italy. A little prosciutto, a bit of morto, some Parmesan, grilled veggies piled high to gnosh followed by fresh pasta and plenty of wine. We were there late on a Saturday and every seat was filled.
