Islamic Institute of America - Scarf I had when I asked if I could cover with this since I did not own hijab

For over a year now I have educated myself on Islam & have taken interest in converting. I have…read morereached the point in my journey where I no longer felt connected to my catholic teachings and wanted to observe prayer at a mosque for the first time. I was accompanied by a friend who has converted and was willing to guide me into learning wadu & prayer. When entering the mosque we went to restroom to make wadu. Automatically approached by a woman whose aura was hostile towards us. Sandy A board member. She said "She has to wear hijab or she has to get out" I wont elaborate much on that interaction as we explained I was new & I am learning. When leaving the restroom Sandy sent a gentleman over to me. Mohammed another board member. Automatically I said "I am new, I am learning, if you are coming to me to enable that lady's behavior I dont wish to discuss any further may allah forgive her for her behavior and judgement." Mohammed did not like my response as the first thing he said was "you must wear hijab or get out" I explained I have my scarf I do not own hijab, I am not muslim yet, I am here for guidance so I can learn." He got aggressive and moved in closer to my face yelling "get out" while pointing his finger to the door. I stated "allah encourages guidance to his teachings" Mohammed said "Get out" I said again "i am new, I am learning, im seeking guidance i am here with my friend" Mohammed stated I was disrespecting mosque without hijab again I tried to explain I am new to islam so I lack some information. He then called another gentleman who I asked if me wearing my scarf is okay to cover my hair since I don't own hijab. He said yes. Mohammed was still not satisfied. I asked for a woman to discuss the matter with and he brought me Sandy who was hostile at the beginning. I asked for someone else. The situation got out of control with both of them. I did not hear what she was lecturing me about over Mohammeds yelling but she was aggressive as well then his final words were "you need to get out, police get this woman out of here" As someone who found peace and has been guided to Islam by Allah through life events, this behavior I received was unacceptable. I felt discriminated, humiliated, and discouraged from Islamic teachings. Islam does not reach every being in this life but when it reaches those who have no knowledge it is always encouraged to welcome non-muslims and guide them in the process so worship towards Allah is respectful and set with intent. As a potential revert this will forever be tainted as my first experience at a mosque. Although Allahs self-guidance is stronger than their behavior they were not able to push me away from Islam. It in fact has guided me to speak out until they are held accountable for their behavior. I pray no one else ever experiences this at any mosque. I pray that Allah guides both Mohammed and Sandy to rightful human kindness and removes any negative energy they may have attracted into their aura. Inshallah. Below I have posted what scarf I had taken with me and how I was trying to cover to compromise for not having hijab.
