On the last night of a two week holiday in Spain we checked into a typical airport area hotel and ventured out for one last dinner in Madrid. We slid Into Al Traste looking for a cold beer, chilled white wine and some night before an early flight comfort food. This is great place to get it. Pizza and a goat cheese salad is not traditional Spanish cuisine but it was exactly what we craved. They have burgers and sandwiches too, basic pub fare but a very friendly staff and sold food was a great way to end our travels around southern Spain. read more

Great casual dining find. Their motto is fun and food. As part of the fun they promise not make fun of your spanish. I assume that means we will not make fun of Their english, which is still better than my spanish. Only reason we found this is that it is close to the Madrid airport where we staying for the night. Yummy nachos in Spain. Felt like an American bar and the food matched. The goat cheese salad was surprisingly yummy, despite our misgivings when they brought it. A taste of America in Spain! Well we are American and decided to go here out of convenience. In the end we wished we had driven into the heart of Madrid for traditional tapas rather than bland salads. We got the Caesar salad, the goat cheese salad and an order of their nachos. The nachos were fantastic! While the salads paled in comparison. Maybe we ordered wrong, but it just wasn't that good! Sad that I wasted one of my last meals in Spain on food I could have gotten at home. Just not worth the trip. Won't be back! But it is an American restaurant in Spain--so it cannot be expected to be what we exactly expect. Also, we're not sure where the fun is in the restaurant? We were expecting some arcade games or maybe a pool game. But I guess not... read more

Tasty food- we had Garlic Bread, Combo Nachos, a Tuna Sandwich, and the 3-cheese Pizza. My favorite was the Nachos. Nice decor- dark wood furnishings, well lit by large front window, projector screen which was showing F1 racing at the time. Good service as well. read more

I was desperately looking for a place to eat in the neighbourhood when I found this place. Eagerly I ordered the irish burger and I was keen to eat! The burger did not take lobg though! When I got it it was crisp on the outside, but completely raw on the inside. My stomach turned on me the day after. Nevertheless, I ordered desert and I got a completely different one than I ordered. I'm a little embarrassed to have my friends see that I went to Spain, and on my last night I had a hamburger at this restaurant in Madrid. It was half a block from my hotel the Ibis-Aeropuerto, so it was efficient calories before an early turn-in and a long flight home to L.A. in the morning. I had the Doug Burger (caramelized onions), which was simple and excellent! But the star of the night was the coarse-ground steak/beef that formed the patty. It was THE most delicious burger I have ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of hamburgers, trust me! I was told they grind the fresh meat daily, so I took a chance an ordered it rare (something I would never do in the U.S.). At 8,95€, it was a steal! The waiter told me the beef came from the cool mountain meadows surrounding Avila, the home of St. Teresa the reforming Carmelite nun of the 16th century. The cows are reputed to be genetic descendants of the herd that supported her nuns in independence from nasty, covetous clergy and Spanish noblemen. I joked to my friends on Facebook that this gives new meaning to the phrase "Holy Cow". But legends and marketing aside, try one of their burgers, and have it rare, they are heavenly! read more

Very pleasant place to grab some 'American' food before flying out of Madrid. In the USA, I would have given this place 3 stars, but our two-week visit to Southern Spain was so ridden with crappy food, that I bumped this up for at least providing some FLAVOR. I had a burger (asked for medium, but there were RAW places in the meat; ask for med-well if you just want it pink. Also had the chorizoqueseo, which was a gooey fondue like thing with crumbled chorizo. Chorizo over here is not spicy at all, at least not like Mexican chorizo in CA. And no Spanish beer!! What's up with that??? Aye carumba!! Food in Spain has been a major disappointment---maybe we're just too spoiled in California... This place is trying, and wait staff very attentive to non-Spanish speakers. read more

Very good food and friendly wait staff. Open when most of the cafes aren't open for those of us from the U.S. That are used to eating before 10 pm. Also Spanish food has been quite blah and at least at this restaurant it's more "American". read more
