The front desk people talked to people, not just me, as though we were annoying children. Since we were all adults and mainly seniors, that's uncalled for. I only got to see so much of the bad attitudes of the staff because I had come early, and got called back late. After I sat in the back until 30 minutes after my appointment time I got up and left. That same day I made appointments with two other potential primary care providers. Two weeks later I got a letter from Alabama Medical Group indicating that they were concerned that they might not be able to provide the best medical care so they would stop providing care after 30 days. I did not write back to tell them that the "care" I had received was not even adequate, and that anyone willing to put up with disrespectful treatment from people who were willing to let the patient know just how overworked they are, well, I do expect good health care and am willing to leave to get it. Btw, I do have Medicare and Plan G supplemental insurance, so lack of coverage is not part of this. read more

I've been using Alabama Medical for years. Everyone there is professional and courteous. The lab techs are always amazing. I have used Dr. Donald Sanders and he is a sweetheart and great PCP. He is friendly, down to earth and very knowledgeable. He treats each patient like family. You have to wait a while but he is so worth it. My Dad has started using Dr. Burden after Dr. Ashurst (whom we love) retired and he is so sincere, listens, has a great bedside manner and very knowledgeable and smart. I saw one of the physicians in the group, moved and decided to return to another physician in the group. It's not possible to do that but you don't find that out. I make another appointment and travel further, and as I am waiting with my service dog, Mystic; upper level management staff calls me into a conference room. This is my first review ever. I've calmed down enough to write this review now and I'm going to because it's extremely important to let others know what you will be in for if you go to the Saraland location. My family ALL 8 of us have been seeing Dr. McDaniel for 20 years. He joined AMG, for the first time we are having to carry a small balance that we are making payments on primarily because my husband was in an accident and we are paying 9 different clinics, Dr's, a hospital and labs. I was told that because of this 300.00 balance they would not see my husband until it was paid on by at least 100.00. They actually refused to see my husband. After 20 years of being loyal to our Dr. and many thousands of dollars from our insurance and other co-pays not to mention the economy and everything else that has happened in this country how dare they refuse to see my husband. NEVER again will any of us go back to Dr. McDaniel. I was told by a woman in billing that Dr. McDaniel himself set up this way of collection. All of these years he has talked to each of us at different times about prayer and what we assumed was his Christian values only to throw it all away over a small balance that we are paying on. My family does not need this or deserve this kind of treatment, especially after dealing with the trauma of my husbands accident. We are hurt and disappointed and will never EVER see this Dr. or any other Dr. at AMG. I have a prayer for you now. May God forgive you for choosing the almighty dollar over your patients. I have visited this location since before Alabama Medical took over. Dr. Rubenstein has been my doctor for the majority of my life. He is also the mayor of Saraland. He has limited number of appointments but his staff is exemplary & very helpful. The facility could use some updating but currently during COVID, everyone is strapped financially. Wait times are never very long but the staff is kind, patient, helpful and makes sure to answer any questions you may have and really shows concern. I highly recommend this office. read more

I had written about Alabama Medical Group in a prior review regarding their unprofessional and unethical conduct. I would like to now make an update. After 6 days of attempting to achieve some sort of satisfaction or at least discuss my issues I have yet to have the opportunity to speak with anyone regarding the problems. I have left at least two messages per day with my doctor and his staff as well as administration yet they do not return my calls, despite knowledge of the problem. As of today, due to their negligence I have close to $5000.00 in medical bills. read more

I just got word that Stacy Richerson will no longer be at the Saraland office? That she's being pulled elsewhere and it won't be possible to see her as my provider?! That's ridiculous! I heard about this crap from another patient that sees her, and quite frankly, I'm pissed! She's the first provider I've ever been able to stand, and the only one I've ever listened to. She tells it to you straight and won't let you fool around with your health, but is charming at the same time, and half the people in this town need that. I hope she goes somewhere else to where I can continue to see her, and I will sure follow! If you see this DO NOT WASTE YOUR DAY going to Alabama Medical Group this facility is completely unorganized and unprofessional and like a empty unkept building of closed down offices. I called 3 days in a row to get a medicine refilled and they assured me that it was called in. Until finally Monday October 21, 3019. That I needed to come in for a 6 month check to get a refill. This place can't be accredited anymore every since Dr. Howard J. Rubenstein retired it s has gone to SHIT!! I checked in the kiosk at 11:39am for my 11:45am appointment. I get a call from the nurse while I was sitting in the waiting room to see if I was coming to the appointment. I advised her I was there and she stated ok they was running behind. I said as always!!! They are unprofessional and the doctor office is dirty and unkept. More like a run down clinic for people without insurance. The furniture is old, dated, and worn out. It's takes at least 45 mins to an hour just to be called back for lab work. The wait is ALWAYS unreasonably long. The exam tables are dirty and rusty at the step. The paper on the exam table looked like it had been used before I got in the examine room. Do I asked the nurse and she just told me to sit in the chair in the room. As I looked around the room while waiting on the PA. I noticed Spider webs in the corner of the floors. Then the PA in training came into the room to listen to my heart and asked me what I had already told the nurse, now I'm repeating myself again after I seen the nurse write everything in my chart. About 5 minutes later the PA came into the room and did everything that the PA in training had done. I explain I'm just trying to get my prescription refilled and the PA advised I need to do blood work. But, because I was not advise not to eat it's not possible. So rude Stacy Richerson, PA-C advised she would only write a prescription for 30 days and if I couldn't do what needs to be done I can go somewhere else for my care. Stacy Richerson, PA-C was the absolute WORSE PA I have ever encountered in my life! She has the worst disposition, she was completely RUDE and unprofessional. She needs to be FIRED!!!!! I immediately called and scheduled an appointment with a new facility I will NEVER return here. I will let them request my records. read more

When you have insurance they are all for you. The moment you are down on your luck and can't give them MONEY MONEY MONEY they don't want to help you no matter how sick you are. I ran into a problem where it was taking a long time for my disability to be approved. They turn me over to COLLECTIONS. Then I get sick, ask for them to see me... THEY REFUSED. What kind of doctors refuse patients in this kind of situation? Really!?!?! When they do see you they kinda look down at you like you are beneath them too. I wanted to believe these doctors were good people.... but now I am not so sure. I thought a doctor took an oath to help those in need when they need it. These people just turned me away. "WE CAN CALL YOU AN AMBULANCE BUT WE CAN'T SEE YOU". I didn't need the ER, I needed a doctor who could help prescribe a medication to take a bit of bronchitis/pneumonia away. But no. They refused to help someone who had lost everything and was waiting for disability cause they wanted MONEY. Go see better doctors in Mobile these doctors aren't right. read more
