A young couple came in to order drinks at a quiet time for the pub in the afternoon. The card machine seemed to not be working and this couple after trying repeatedly to pay for their drinks were told to return their drinks to the bar from outside, as they like most people of their generation were not carrying any cash. I felt acutely embarrassed for them as they were obviously made to feel extremely uncomfortable by the lack of empathy shown both by the serving barmaid and by the manager who was called. The drinks were then disposed of and the couple left, I'm sure never to return. I certainly will not return myself either as this episode of lack of understanding, compassion and downright rudeness on the part of the Orange Tree left such a bitter taste in my mouth.

She told me it was regular coke when she obviously served us Diet Coke. My cousin ordered 2 meals and one was to go. She did not put in that order and when we were getting ready to leave proceed to tell us that "It's not like when you are in America and you get to order things to go and rice cannot be taken off the premises" I have never heard of this before in any of the countries I have visited yet alone in the UK. She was rude and unprofessional and the food was equally unimpressive. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

We were attended by a very well presented waiter who was able to put us at some ease and recommend both starters and main courses to us having little idea ourselves of the content or flavour of a very varied Indian cuisine on the menu. We ordered wine and leisurely ate the papadums and sauces whilst waiting for the starters. The garlic mushrooms were fine and very tasty, however my friend's samosas were rather overdone and so crisp as to be considerably resistant to the sharp knife supplied but on making a compalint a replacement dish was quickly served along with profuse apologies and the dish proved very enjoyable. The main courses as recommended were a Dhansak and a Jalfrezi served with mushroom rice and Naan bread. The mains were served from hot metal bowls and were absolutely delicious. I had some misgivings about a jalfrezi being too spicey for my taste but it was beautifully flavoured to just the right level and the dhansak was just as delicious as were the mushroom rice and naan bread which we shared. On settling our account we were offered a complimentary liquer and great interest was shown in our satisfaction on the evening's fayre. Saturday nights one expects a good restaurant to be busy and some waiting involved giving time to anticipate the pleasures of the dish ordered and in all we were more than pleased with the cuisine and service. Finally the price was perfectly acceptable given the surroundings, attention, service and concern in this establishment which offers a personal atmosphere with the tables set in different rooms not one noisy mass dining room. Extremely enjoyable and well worth a return visit if ever I am that way again from Lancashire.

Popped in, to find a lovely small eating area to the right, and the open plan kitchen to the left (more seating upstairs, but only really room for 30 ppl max). Was greeted by the owner, a 50+ year old Italian gentleman, who showed me to my seat and provided me with my menu, whilst taking orders from other guests. (The guests were varied; 2 older ladies talking to each other across the small room; a young Italian couple; and two university students from Hungary.) The gentleman took my order, a ham pizza (I'm rather boring I'm afraid, although there were some truly interesting and delicious sounding pizzas), and went off to the kitchen. To cook it himself. That's right. Owner. Waiter. And chef. The pizza arrived eventually (as I said; 1 man taking orders, and cooking it HIMSELF!). And it. Was. HUGE. Delicious. Crunchy pizza base. Fresh, well, everything. I looked around and everyone was enjoying their food as much as I was. So. To finish up: I made my interview in time. But even if I hadn't, I wouldn't have regretted waiting for my food. Thoroughly recommend the place. So much so, that I've created its page on Yelp! Lol.
