The photos are very very expensive, which came as quite a shock to us but we still ordered some prints at the viewing, as they were so lovely. We live in Canada and had to organize everything with him via email, which was very easy with his in-depth checklist that he provided us. We showed up in York, England and hoped for the best. And we feel we got the best. The photos were beautiful. We had a general idea of what we wanted, and were impressed with his ability to think on his feet while we were walking around and find other beautiful shots we never would have thought of! We loved all the candid photographs he took that we had no idea about! While the groom and best man were being photographed, my maid of honour and I would be chatting and laughing... not even realizing he was photographing us every so often in between his shots of the guys! He walked through the reception area where people were milling about before dinner so unobtrusively that he was able to take so many wonderful candid shots without anyone feeling like they were being stalked by a photographer! He just blended in and truly captured the essence of the day! Turn around time was very fast, as well! The photos were ready before we even got back to Canada from our honeymoon! We loved the fact that they were more than happy for us to suggest what types of photos we had in mind and also used their photographers-eye to take some truly beautiful shots that had never even crossed our minds taking a mixture of formal, posed and reportage-style shots. They are really lovely people who put us at our ease on what could have been quite a stressful day, made sure that the day wasn't all about spending hours taking photos and have left us with masses of gorgeous photos that capture the day perfectly - our only problem now is narrowing down the selection for our album as we are so spoilt for choice. Didn't have time to check hair etc before shoot (in fact didn't see a mirror there to do that even if you had time ?), so we all had messy hair in the pictures (it was a bit windy outside). The pictures came out ok, but I think it's very important that people get the chance to see how they look before getting their picture taken. One of our group didn't like any of the photos at all, as her hair was very messy. 2. We weren't asked what style of photo we like, and they were all posed photos. We wanted more natural ones. We thought the natural ones would be taken after the posed ones, but we had the posed ones taken then were told the session was over. My overall impression was that the owner possibly doesn't enjoy doing her job as much as she used to ? For our family it just felt like a factory production line. For us asking the customer what they want, making sure they are happy with how they look before the session starts, and giving them the advertised amount of time are all important in a photo shoot.

From the very beginning, Sean was very welcoming, and listened to exactly what we wanted, every meeting we had was very professional, and he always had time for us. On the wedding day itself, Sean was very enthusiastic, and always had an eye for detail in every situation. He turned up at my parent's house early in the morning and started photographing very special moments of myself and bridesmaid's getting ready. The outcome of the photograph's were amazing, they really captured the emotion of the day. The quality of his work did not lapse throughout the day, from the church ceremony to the evening reception; everything was approached with a subtle mix of a traditional and contemporary style. If you put your trust in Sean, he will deliver the most amazing photographs. . When we first started looking for North East wedding photographers, we realised it wasn't going…read moreto be easy. All the websites of the photographers we stumbled across showed photograph upon photograph of formal, cheesy poses, brides and grooms peeping out from behind trees or set up 'wacky' faces from the bridal party. Not exactly photos you'd want to have on your living room wall for years to come In a moment of frustration, I think I typed something like 'relaxed wedding photography, no cheesy poses' into Google and hey presto, Dirk's name came up! From our first meeting, we knew we weren't going to have to look anywhere else for our wedding photography. Dirk knew exactly what we wanted, but answered all our questions, and he was even happy to meet the parents before the big day. Even though he encouraged us to look around and make sure we were happy with our choice, we didn't bother, knowing that Dirk would do the job exactly as we wanted. And Dirk didn't disappoint! Despite the torrential rain on our pre-wedding shoot, we had a fun and relaxed afternoon in Durham a few weeks before our wedding, and he settled all nerves by ensuring he stayed in contact right up until the big day. I was so excited to get a text from him saying 'I'm on site, will be there in a second!' on the morning of our wedding, knowing that he would get some lovely shots right from when he arrived! I'd read reviews on Dirk's website about how well he fits in on the wedding day and sure enough, every single guest we spoke to after the wedding commented on him. Everyone said what a lovely bloke he was one guest even said 'that was the only wedding photographer I've seen who I've actually liked I usually want to punch them by the end of the day after they have made the guests wait around for three hours before herding them into some ridiculous formal pose'. Dirk was the opposite the group shots were taken in about a minute and every single person is smiling from ear to ear! Dirk was with us from 11 until around 9 on the day of the wedding, and he was hard at work for every single second. He even became like a third bridesmaid (minus the dress), helping me with flowers and gifts when I was looking a little overwhelmed! He took us away during the lull before the disco for a maximum of five minutes to get some photographs of the two of us alone nobody even noticed we had gone and they turned out to be some of our favourite pictures! Because of our jobs, we had asked Dirk if he wouldn't mind leaving our photographs off Facebook and his BLOG, and we were very grateful to him for respecting our wishes. Our photographs were ready for viewing less than a week after the wedding, and a gorgeous box with over 600 photographs was waiting for us on our return from honeymoon. We love every single picture as they are so relaxed and everyone looks so happy the photographs really tell the story of the day and we've looked at them over and over again since the wedding.Thank you, Dirk we couldn't have picked a better wedding photographer!
