Super communicative, she brought up and explained things in a way I could understand. I'd been told previously I was a night grinder, but with her 20+ years as a hygienist experience, she took the time to actually SHOW me the wear spots, explained that the little divits in 2-4 molars should look like mountain peaks! I saw & understood for the first time. I trusted her when she said she doesn't think it was due to the misaligned bite I now have from a bad dental experience I had in 2017-18. I won't go into that but it was my first bad dental experience, although I'd once before had a dentist I trusted who moved and sold his patient contact list, and the next dentist was super aggressive so I didn't go back, my radar said wait why is this all of a sudden when I've been being taken care of by someone who didn't see those issues. Suffice it to say I still have all my teeth and never a root canal or cap, not prior nor since. Back to Julie, she was kind, personable and informative.. she actually scaled my teeth rather than only using a power washing device which never felt smooth like after the old fashioned scaling by feel, by hand! I love Julie!!! Although I'm moving to BR you betcha I'm going back to Livingston to see Dr Patel & Hygienist Julie. I wish I'd found this group sooner, like 5 years ago. They are truly awesome folks, if you're like me and frustrated and scared from past negative experiences, then go here! I actually shed tears talking about my past teeth issues (trigeminal nerve pain for 2 months because of a rush job 1.5 years ago in DS) & my fear & tears didn't scare them they just showed me compassion by acknowledgment, and fully gained my trust with their combined experience, knowledge, patience and communication.

Very rude to her dental hygienists that help her everyday! Entitled attitude and will say with sarcasm "Don't make me be mean"? Who is going to make you be meaner than you? Over the years, I have attempted to schedule an appointment with this office on several occasions…read more However, each time I make an attempt, they provide me with an unrealistic date for my initial consultation as a new patient. During my most recent call today, 30th of May, 2025, they informed me that I would need to wait until December to see a dentist at their facility. Any one who faces a similar dilemma needs to realize this- you deserve better! A six-month wait for a new dental patient is a clear sign of poor planning or overwhelming demand, but from a patient's perspective, it's simply unacceptable. Dental issues don't pause -- what starts as a small cavity can become an infection, and untreated gum disease can lead to tooth loss or impact heart health. Delaying care this long risks preventable damage, worsens conditions, and fails the basic duty of timely medical access. No matter the reason, making someone wait half a year for essential care is not just inconvenient -- it's irresponsible and dangerous. Luckily the next place I called was in Baton Rouge and was able to take me the same day

The receptionist asked that I be there by 2:30 to "fill out paperwork." At 2:32 when I arrived there was no other patient in the waiting room. I filled out one form and provided my insurance cards. I was then told that the hygienist had "taken another patient" and I would not be finished in time to make my appointment. I was told that I should reschedule. I asked to speak to the dentist and then I was told that the dentist would do my cleaning and I would be done in time. After being taken back by a dental assistant and x-rayed, I was then informed that the hygienist would see me after all. An older and very heavy set woman introduced herself as the hygienist. I asked her why she was 40 minutes late for my appointment and she rudely shrugged her shoulders and said "I decided to take another patient first." She smelled bad and was not at all gentle in cleaning my teeth. She then squirted water all over my face and tried to downplay her obvious incompetence and rudeness. There is no chance whatsoever I will ever let that unprofessional, rude woman near my mouth again. On the other hand Dr. Mayer seemed very nice and competent. The young dental assistant was also nice and seemed very good at her job. Perhaps Dr. Mayer should look into hiring a new hygienist because the one he has is horrible at her job and very rude and nasty too.
