    Le Calette - Sunrise

I love everything about this place…read more It was my and my brother's second time there, my father's eighth, and my husband, niece, and sister-in-law's first. We all felt the exact same when leaving: when can we come back?? I loved my room. I loved how updated it was from my previous visit. I loved how much care went into every single aspect of our stay. They are so incredibly good to my family. They, of course, treat one-time visitors amazingly; but they treated my family -- and my father -- like royalty. You can tell they really value loyalty, and go above and beyond to ensure you want -- no, NEED -- to come back again and again. Aside from the five-star treatment, the location is perfect. It's easy to get into town (you can walk or taxi there). I love going into town once or twice during my stays to get some souvenirs and bring back a stacked sandwich to eat on my day bed while overlooking the water. BUT, you could never go into town and have just as good of a visit. Every day for lunch, I had the same thing: chicken Caesar salad with a mojito. I'm surprised I didn't turn into a chicken Caesar salad mojito mashup. Everything -- the food, the drinks, the service -- was five stars. If you're thinking of visiting Sicily and want to be near the water, head straight to Le Calette.

This year I returned with five family members for a truly memorable family holiday. If you are seeking excellence in personalized care, service and every other aspect of hospitality, you will never be disappointed in selecting Le Callette. This family owned resort is a rare gem in the international world of hospitality. It has not been consumed by the corporate cookie cutter care and treatment prevalent today. They provide the definition of a 5 Star resort. Their physical facilities are technologically modern. The grounds are impeccably kept. All public guest areas are spotless. The rooms and suites are spacious with the most comfortable beds, pillows and thread counts. The natural ambience is stunning. The grounds cover a great expanse of natural beauty from the exterior breakfast (which is amazing) and evening dining area at Cala Luna to the pathways that lead to private coves and the private outdoor massage area overlooking the cove with the majestic cliffs and rock formations reaching from the sea. The private "Reef Club" with comfortable day beds on an elevated deck will give you the feeling you are on a Mediterranean cruise. The staff at this area is incredibly attentive to your needs. The outdoor bar and eating area is the child of an even more complex restaurant built above and into the cliffs that create the cove. They provide an in depth dining and wine menu. The Cala Luna dinner restaurant, outdoor and romantically overlooking the sea, is of Michelin Star quality. The only element which exceeds the high quality management, maitre d and staff is the absolutely remarkable Chef Pandolfo. His intricate creations celebrating Sicily are meals to savor and enjoy in the memories of your finest of dining experiences. He is well deserving of every accolade received to date. A full service spa and wellness area is not to be missed. They provide an endless menu of services to enhance your stay. The pool area is beautiful with full service for dining or drinks. Of course, at the peak of this resort of perfection is a management team with a never ending commitment to your total satisfaction. Treat yourself with a stay at this resort.

Cefalù Sea Palace - The beach across the street

Large room with a balcony and a huge bathroom (for Italian standards). The lobby was open concept with a nice breeze. Staff was very helpful getting us checked in and helping us with the parking gate. Parking was free and around the corner but the dirt lot is small and likely fills up quickly when it's busy. We enjoyed the free breakfast buffet in the morning and were able to walk across the street to the beach, walk to town, and walk to the famous hike up the hill. Everything is very close together in Cefalù. And by staying on the outskirts it is quiet, and way less traffic to get in and out of town.

Review of Sea Palace Let's start with the good. The rooms…read morewere large and the parking was free. The beach is right across the street...... That's it. The place is horrible and it is far from 5 star - 2 or 3 star AT BEST. Let's start with the beach across the street - possibly the WORST beach in Cefalu. Small, bordered by a rocky prominence that makes it tiny. While chairs are included - you go there to find out you have to get your towels at the front desk of the hotel! The chairs are old and uncomfortable and it was just about as uninviting a beach stay as could be imagined. We stayed about 5 min and left for the pool - which was large, clean but unstaffed, again no towels, water ice cold, but at least better than the pool. Our room was nice and large and decorated in early 80's worn out wood - there were large chunks out of the laminated tops, we actually were missing light bulbs from all the floor fixtures, and the ceiling looked like it had had a number of leaks. The bed was about as comfortable as sleeping on a board with a comforter on top of it. Worst of all was the electricity in the room - it was infected with what is all to popular in Italy with the need for a card to be placed in the slot at the door in some ill-conceived Greta Thunberg inspired plan to save energy for the electricity to work in the room - but this took it a step further and required the actual room key to be read in order to give the room power. This device was not working properly and required the key card to be inserted multiple times to be read properly - and it did not give a good indication when it had been read properly. Even worse, it would deactivate randomly and require the card to be reinserted - which happened to us at 3:45 am and 5:30 am when I was awakened by my CPAP machine not working. Then, this hotel bills itself as "5 Star" - what "5 Star" hotel has ONE person working the desk in the evening to handle the desk, power problems in the room, deliver food trays upstairs, help people checking in with baggage, and walk you to the parking lot? Shouldn't a 5 star hotel have a BellMan to take care of your luggage? No, we had to handle all our own luggage (including a very accessible non-friendly staircase at the front) by ourselves. That was after trying to negotiate an entrance semi-circle blocked by two staff members cars parked on it the entire stay that caused me to hit the curb with my rental car and do some damage. And the parking lot was a muddy dirt field with a gate on it that was very difficult maneuver out of without hitting the side of the car. Breakfast - the setting was very nice - a rooftop terrace overlooking the water. But the breakfast itself - canned mushrooms? Pancakes pre-made sitting on plate out in the open with no hot plate? The same person making the coffee as bussing tables? I counted three people working a very busy terrace restaurant. Just another example of the cost-cutting by management. I could not in good conscience recommend staying here - its not "5 Star", not even close.
