I'm assuming that the work that is done here overall is better than my experience at this facility, therefore I'm giving these folks 3 stars instead of what I'd give them if they had been a for profit type establishment. We came in with an injured bat. The staff instantly took the bat away. My kids and wife were kind of surprised at the quick cold cruel efficiency of the process. The room was dark, and the staff all seemed like they were being distracted from more important tasks. Later, we would reflect on how unwelcoming everyone was. My advice would be to slow down. Allow the kids to properly say goodbye. My eight year old daughter loves animals. In our brief meeting you gals had the opportunity to inspire our younger generation, but that opportunity was all but squandered. read more

The Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) strives to enrich the lives of Albertans by nurturing a strong appreciation and respect for wildlife. AIWC is a registered charity and non-profit society that has been operating since 1993. We are an accredited vet clinic through the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, specifically dedicated to admitting injured and orphaned wildlife. We are located northwest of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and serve the Calgary region and southern Alberta. A team of wildlife biologists and technicians manages AIWC and receives critical assistance from 2 volunteer veterinarians and over 100 highly trained volunteers. We accept native injured, orphaned, and contaminated wildlife ranging in sizes from hummingbirds to baby moose. Each year the demand for our services increases. As a non-profit organization we rely solely on successful grant applications and donations to operate.
