if you need to use AMA then you already know that it is bad. I was privileged to wait for six hours and 30° heat. They kept delaying the time when they pick up my vehicle and were bullying me to leave my vehicle with my key, even though it was not a area that was safe. They were very aware that safety was an issue, but that did not matter to AMA Fees for licensing and incorporating it are substantially higher too. So what do you get long lineups expensive. This seems to be the largest AMA location I've been to. Parking here is pretty easy. It's brightly lit inside. Washrooms are clean and handicap/baby friendly, but space is tight in there if you have a stroller. There is concierge at this location since it's busy here. I find this place sells a good variety of travel gear and has a decent amount of sitting areas used by companions waiting for those members who are in the lineup. They are more efficient too, with a self serve kiosk for buying discounted movie passes & placing the travel maps/guides on display at front for easy access to help yourself to instead of waiting in line. Passport photos are guaranteed here- it was a bit of a hassle to return to get the money back, but the refund covered the difference of the retake photos' cost from the place who did the photo correctly (in the Canada place building which is more expensive anyway). I've usually found service here to be friendly despite being busy. Even just stopping by for some travel questions is helpful. There's no pressure to book through them & they can give you quotes on their prices for theme park admission tickets as well as tips on when price increases occur (they were actually only a few bucks more than the official theme park's website). I don't do my insurance through them or travel bookings, but I haven't been disappointed with services I've used yet (roadside assistance and locksmith). If you have a vehicle and don't have AMA you really should consider joining. There are a ton of member benefits and all of the employees we have interacted with have been awesome. This location. Is on my way to work so I stop in here most often to do registrations, get travel insurance, etc. I bought my new luggage there for my last trip even. I most often stop in during the middle of the week and during the workday so I haven't had to contend with many big lineups. I can't attest to how busy it is on weekends. I like the AMA. I've been a member for years. I like the perks that come along with being a member. I get cheap movie tickets and good travel deals. As far as insurance goes, I just switched from the AMA to another company who is cheaper but I like the AMA for almost everything else it offers. I really like the travel services here. They are great. The consultants are very helpful and I always end up finding what I'm looking for at a decent price. The building itself is beautiful. They underwent a bunch of renovations a few years ago and they turned out really well. It's a great looking building. read more

This is supposed to be the best insurance company out there, but it is also super expensive. I did a quote online twice and did not get a call back for my quote, so I decided to phone them to get a quote. The man I talked to on the phone said even though I answered all of my questions truthfully, he doubled added an extra $1000 to it and then requested to call me back. So we decided to go to the AMA registry, because I'm the past they have always provided better service than other registries. Today that was certainly not the case. They have a greeter and line director (2 staff members) to manage customers coming in, but only three staff members serving customers behind the counter. Luckily there was only three people ahead of us, but it was still a 30 minute wait. The line grew behind us and being that it was an hour before close, I am sure some of these potential customers will be sent away. Does it really take two people to direct customers to follow the stickers on the ground?! I think not. Don't come here. Edited to add: ok, so the review was a little harsh. After having been insured with AMA for 16 years, they hiked my policy by $800 for the upcoming year! Did the same thing to my mother after twenty five years of being a loyal customer. She switched to another company last year and I cancelled my policy with them today and switched to TD who are giving me the best rate I've ever had! It's like AMA doesn't give a wing ding about its longtime customers who have been loyal to their company for years and they don't even bother to try to give you a good deal so they can keep your business. Thanks for nothing AMA, hopefully TD will appreciate my loyalty and business more than you ever did! I have put up with the horrible service for years(especially at registries)but only because I though I was getting a good insurance rate. I have 2 properties insured through them, and one car. My husband has another property, and two vehicles insured through them. We even booked and planned our wedding through them. But we have never received any kind of customer service, only an annual phone call, threatening that our accident forgiveness will be cancelled if we don't renew our memberships. Finally, this year I had enough. I called a different insurance company and they are doing my insurance for OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS CHEAPER A YEAR! And that's just mine, not my husbands. So I really enjoy having a ama membership. Not only for the peace of mind if I am travelling but for all the perks that come Along with a membership. Cheap movie passes 'A night out at the movies' 2 movie passes 2 reg pop and large popcorn for like 27 bucks.. I have booked 2 trips through them and they were awesome and helpful. I took my class five driving test a month ago and I was too furious to write a review. The driving instructor was very rude and treated me like a kid, he never told me his name so I'm not sure who to addressed this too but He raised his voice several times at me during my test and I was of the impression that testers can't talk to you unless it's telling you the directions. He had no idea where he was going because I was in the right lane on Calgary Trail and he told me to get into the far left line as soon as possible in heavy traffic and then deducted me points for it, then when we finally stopped he looked at me and said have you ever had lessons before in a rude and sassy tone, he also made up points for doing my parallel parking too slow which is not even on the sheet to deduct points on so he made them up. After switching from AMA a few years ago I thought I would stop in and get a quote. I originally switched because of their rate hike was double what I found elsewhere. After sitting in their waiting room for over an hour and watching them bring walk ins in before me I asked them for a quote for my motorhome insurance(I did buy a membership this year) I was told that if I don't have my house insured with them then they can't insure my motorhome. I have been with this insurance company for 24 years I purchased 2 older vehicles my insurance went up over $160.00 a month without collision my young kids pay less So I found a insurance company for just about half the price I went with them I cancelled my insurance with AMA today I got a letter they were telling me I owe them $170.44 I asked what for and they said it was a cancelation fee I was told by another girl when I cancelled I would get the rest of my policy back I guess that's what you get for being a loyal customer for 24 years read more

Repeated HORRIBLE Service. Been member of AMA for years. Great company UNTIL you need the services you have paid for... Road-side assistance is a joke. Service trucks do not have the proper equipment to help you or tell you that they won't come as you are out in the country. Insurance claims are a bigger joke. Spent an entire day at different body shops having the AMA appraisal thrown back at me as it is about 1/3 the actual cost of repair. Adjusters send form letters - cannot pick up the phone and call you to advise the status of your claim. Adjusters who can't be bothered to collect the proper information in investigating your claim, such as contacting RCMP to obtain 'full' reports - call and advise they have 'looked on google maps' and the liability is going to be shared 50/50 (for a claim which is clearly the fault of the other party, had they bothered to perform their due diligence and obtain the necessary information - RCMP confirmed no one from AMA had requested any information on the file). I think NOT. Messages left with 'Supervisor' are again NOT returned. Never have I had such repeated, pathetic service. Will be the last year we ever deal with AMA!! If you need insurance or services - LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. AMA wants your $$$ but don't really care to provide you with the services that you are paying for. Their 'Services' look great on paper/internet - BUT TRY TO GET THEM WHEN YOU NEED THEM... .... GOOD LUCK!!! read more
