A true nightmare new car buying experience. I now own a complete lemon that's still under warranty,…read moreplus I'm $10,000 deep in legal bills. I factory-ordered a brand-new Santa Fe PHEV, which has a verified drivetrain vibration that Hyundai mechanics have acknowledged but cannot fix. As soon as I involved a lawyer, they backtracked and claimed this was a 'normal characteristic of the vehicle.' This doesn't even cover the two incidents where the vehicle endangered our lives: once when it completely shut down without warning while turning left in front of oncoming traffic, and another due to unintended acceleration--the second of which the dealer never documented. To make matters worse, I requested they store the vehicle in their back lot until the issues were resolved, only to be told I'd be charged $20 per day for storage. So now, I'm stuck making payments, paying insurance, accruing interest on an SUV that has been sitting unused in my garage for over eight months. One which I cannot sell. On top of that, I've had to purchase a second vehicle as a replacement. An ongoing nightmare. To anyone reading this: do yourself a favor and never buy a Hyundai. They do not honour their warranties or stand by their products, and their dealers are nothing short of crooks.

I have a hard time verifying which work was done or not, some visible items I can see they always do such as lubricating door hinges at every B service. but I don't know if everything claimed and paid for was actually completed. Seems like I walk away with very little inspection work. I just don't trust anymore. This is typical from most Auto shops, however, most don't claim that higher quality standard and all the multi-point inspections, also you don't pay as much for them. I would sooner just walk in and expect the bare bones oil change, rather than given false sense of security with multi-point inspections completed. If you ask for extra checks on certain parts, you may be charged for it, although you are already paying for the 'inspections' and 'road test' in the higher end service packages "B and Above".. I still have slightly higher trust in the quality of work for repair work, although I had to return for a re-work on some electrical, I have trusted their knowledge and expertise of their service manager and their senior tech's in the back. the friendly smile and great customer interaction is superb, the staff is great to deal with, and all walk around with smiles. Very happy place to visit, and I always enjoy my cup of coffee at their shop. So even though my trust on some quality of work has eroded in some aspects, they are always eager to have me come back - i just wish they didn't cost so much and I wasn't double paying for things that should have been inspected and captured in the inspections and ongoing maintenance. The only way that accountability would be driven home and the shop would ensure they inspected properly as claimed, would be if they took on the risk of repairing any damages due to missed preventative inspections and maintenance. I would love to see shops offering accepting that kind of risk, it's easy and a conflict of interest for a shop to tell you yah they did the inspection and charge you for it, but if they were accepting the risk and accountability with it, then they would make sure they do the job right when the promise so much. I would pay a lot more if I knew I was getting value and peace of mind, but right now it feels sometimes I am paying for nothing, and then I will be coming back to pay more for repairs. if you balance all things considered, Superb customer service, loaner cars, great coffee, friendly smiles, with ok repair & maintenance work, and weak inspections - they are still an "OK" shop... hence why I moved it up to a 3/5. Short of validating the work they claimed they did at another shop, or watching them do the work, I don't know how I can regain trust now.

I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately. After their inspection, I was informed that the steering wheel angle sensor was broken and the lower control arm was damaged. The dealership claimed these issues occurred after delivery--even though the vehicle was returned the same day--and insisted that I pay for the repairs. Given that these mechanical parts could not have failed immediately under normal use, I raised my concerns. The dealership's sales manager, R.C., refused to issue a refund and instead asked me to cover the repair costs. Based on this experience, I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership.

I came to Northwest Toyota prepared and completely transparent. I explained that I had worked in the automotive industry, understood the financing process, and was rebuilding my credit after returning to university. I wasn't expecting special treatment--I simply wanted to know whether I qualified for financing on my own, what the terms would be, and whether the deal made financial sense. I was also clear that any purchase would be conditional on a mechanical inspection and an auto body inspection because the vehicle had approximately $24,000 in previous accident damage. During the test drive, I specifically requested highway driving to properly evaluate the vehicle, but the route remained mostly on city streets. I also noticed the vehicle didn't feel as solid as expected, and shifting into Park and Reverse felt unusual. Combined with the accident history and the fact it was traded in only months after the repairs, I decided I wasn't comfortable moving forward. The financing process was the most disappointing part. I repeatedly asked one simple question: Based on my application alone, what financing terms do I qualify for? Instead of receiving a clear answer, I was repeatedly asked about a co-signer. I explained several times that if I didn't qualify independently, I was happy to purchase a less expensive vehicle or wait a few months while continuing to improve my credit. I wasn't looking for someone to "make the deal work"--I wanted honest information so I could make an informed financial decision. Instead, I kept hearing that I was "approved" while also being told I needed a co-signer. Those messages didn't align, and despite asking multiple times, I never received the financing details or follow-up email I had been promised. When I decided not to proceed and requested my deposit back, I was asked to return to the dealership in person. After arriving for my scheduled appointment, I waited approximately 90 minutes for a refund that ultimately took less than a minute to process. My disappointment wasn't that I may not have qualified independently--that was always a possibility. It was the lack of clear, straightforward communication throughout the process. Customers deserve honest answers so they can make informed financial decisions. By comparison, my experience at Sherwood Park GM Buick was excellent. Chris and Jahron were professional, patient, transparent, and never pressured me. They answered every question directly and treated me like an informed customer. That level of customer service deserves recognition. I hope this feedback is taken constructively. Customers don't expect every financing application to be approved--they simply deserve honesty, transparency, and respect throughout the process.

The bottom 2 reviews are all that I had to go on when I was looking for work done to my car so here it goes. In April of 2013, I needed an out of province inspection done to my 2006 Audi A3. Moving from Toronto I figure this shop will do since it's close to work. By virtue of not knowing any better of how this program works here in Alberta, I was needless to say taken advantage of. They charged $130 for the inspection and got back to me with a rap sheet of $2000 worth of repairs required to pass as follows; 1. Daylight running light 2. Wheel bearings needed to be replaced 3. CV Boot needed to be replaced on both front axles I wouldn't have a problem doing #1 myself since all I had to do was use my VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as my daylight running lights. Alas, this I feel was utter nonsense that they spent 3.5 shop hours ($800 including equipment needed from what memory recalls) installing a relay harness to activate my headlamps as the DRL when all they needed to do was use their VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as the DRL. #2 I really don't have much of issue with since they needed to be replaced but to charge me $500 for this. ON top of that they quoted me $1,800 initially but added a couple more hours because of farting around to bring my total above $2,000 to take me for an even bigger ride. #3 Total nonsense they had to change this out entirely as it does not facilitate any safety issue. So we are at $1,500 now, they charged me $500 because they felt like it and called it a day because they ran out of other areas to nit pick on. CONSUMERS, if you are new to ALBERTA...do not go here for an out of province inspection. They will see you as a DOLLAR sign to line their pockets because of this loophole in the system that allows them to use the out of province inspection as a tool to extort money from you simply because, you need to pass it to be able to register your car here. I brought this complaint up with the Better Business Bureau and City of Edmonton to no avail. If you want to get an out of province inspection done, look up INSPECTORS on the south side. I took my 2008 Mercedes R320 there that I bought from Montreal, they charge $240 for the inspection but they keep it honest. My rear brakes were less than 40% worn and they still passed it. Had I taken it here, they would have charged me $1000 to replace the brakes and god knows what other nonsense they can come up with. To me honesty and accountability is what matters most, if you take your car here for an inspection, GET A SECOND OPINION. Get as many opinions until you find a shop that will pass your car without any nonsense. Don't settle for their outrageous and dubious charges.
