My daughter and I were fortunate to find this lovely bistro on my last night with her in London. I can't say enough good things about our meal there. Our server was most attentive, (but not overly so), gracious, and pleasant and took pride in the menu. We enjoyed delicious, fresh burrata with roasted peppers, eggplant, zucchini, and pesto with toasted Italian bread, as well as calamari with harissa and garlic mayonnaise as an appetizer. We shared a reasonably-priced, pleasant Argentinian Malbec.
For dinner, I ordered one of the Specials from the board: lab rib chops with fondant potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and salsa verde. When my beautiful plate arrived, the vegetables looked so fresh that I was concerned they were undercooked, but they were not; they were perfect, as were the medium-done lamb chops. They and the potatoes were exquisite with the salsa verde. My daughter raved about her meal from the regular menu: roasted chicken with chard and mushrooms in cream sauce. I tasted her dish and the chicken was so tender and tasty (we noticed that the chicken in England was not overgrown and is so much more tender and flavorful than the standard grocery-store chicken in the U.S.). She made a point of only eating half of her meal so she could take it home and look forward to reliving the experience the next day, since it was "the best meal [she had] ever had."
As if all that weren't enough, we also treated ourselves to truffle & Parmesan fries! They were generous with both toppings and we were over the moon.
We were quite satiated but had been looking for a just-right cheesecake since we had arrived in London three weeks prior. When we saw it on the menu, we decided to push our gastronomic indulgences a step further! It was perfect--light and creamy, with a variety of berries in syrup. We were truly delighted, and followed up with an aperitif of Disaronno (Italian amaretto liqueur).
We were fortunate to have chosen a delightful place with an interesting menu at which to enjoy our last meal together for several months.
I thoroughly enjoyed Alcedo Bistro and Bar. I won't forget such a pleasant experience. We were warmly welcomed and we look forward to returning; my daughter plans to return regularly and was pleased to hear that Alcedo is open seven days a week and also serve breakfast! read more
